Picks are quite bony but have a good meat that makes great fish patties. Here in Maine we can find them near 3 feet long; and buddy you do not stick your fingers in those fishes mouths if you want to keep counting to 10.

Northern pike are excellent to eat. They have Y bones in them. When you clean them you can find a video on how to cut them out. Sometimes I just leave them in and take them out as you eat them. Awesome.

we make fish cakes out of the larger ones , also dare devils work great for pickeril

I had a buddy I used to fish with, he looked at it this way. If he only caught one fish for the day, he'd say "hey at least we wouldn't have starved today." Good luck in your tournament!

Weather along the Ohio River has been rough indeed. Severe storms, flooding, 70 degree temps today, and snow expected for the weekend. One of the roughest Aprils I can remember. Anway, nice to see you out fishing.

I'm gonna say you did it right, you got you a pickerel sandwich!! That's how we do it up here, they like minnows and frogs too! Those fish are great, they have a Y bone like pike. It's fairly easy to get around them, you end up with like 2 backstraps and 2 side fillets.
