I've a question about tap downs. Is it about the material of the tap down you use? or the hammer you have? I've a bunch of push marks after some pushes I did to lift low spots but tapping with the paddle doesn't seem to work nor does a tap down and a hammer. I'm using a plastic tip on my knock down tool.
@LearnPDROnline
@LearnPDROnline 3 жыл бұрын
A little bit of both, the main difference between knock down material is weight and also how hard the knock down is but when it comes to k coming down highs it’s more to do with the tip size for a sharp high you usually needs a sharp tip, a soft high a soft tip. Metal ones carry the energy/momentum more so can be used when more force is needed. 👍🏻

@@LearnPDROnline Hi thanks for the reply, I'll shop about and see if I can find a decent metal tap down. :)

@@kamiwolf8356 you do have to be a little more careful with a metal one, make sure the tip is always clean as there is a higher chance of chipping paint 👍🏻

Is this how they remove hail damage from the other side of the panel? Thanks.
@LearnPDROnline
@LearnPDROnline 3 жыл бұрын
Usually dents will be pushed from the inside or pulled from the outside, in this video I wanted to show just how much the surrounding panel moves on impact, whilst the tap down I am using is pretty small the majority of the panel moves on the impact showing that even though a dent may be small its good to check out the surrounding area for secondary damage or tension.

Tom, after your suggestion I made two different line boards today. In the process I found another dent in front of one I intend to repair. White with black lines like yours are the best. I did some neon yellow/black which were okay but the white was best specially on a yellow fender I was playing with. Do you have or recommend a set of tools for a beginner/novice ? Thanks
@LearnPDROnline
@LearnPDROnline 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rodney, Yes white and yellow backgrounds are the most common, I do usually stick to white but sometimes yellow and black lines can be helpful particularly on black cars and whites... We do not sell tools here but our tool checklist will show you what the minimum tools are required to start learning, this is free and is access via the website www.learnpdronline.com

Hello. nice job. I'm having difficulty tapping down dents. Any chance you could you please let me know the make and model of that line board?

Sure, the reflector board I use is the 'tight line' board from PDR Pro Tools in the UK you can also get the suction cup and arm here too, also check out TDN Tools and BLE Tools!

why would you tap down on the center of the dent? thought you tapped on the edges to push the dent out Hitting in the center only will keep denting it in more.
@LearnPDROnline
@LearnPDROnline 3 жыл бұрын
When tapping down high spots you definitely need to hit the centre however as you'll see in the video I am not tapping the centre only I am making very slight adjustments all around to work the whole area. 👍
