Hello Annie! I absolutely love your scrappy string quilt. Definitely will give this a try. I could make a couple each day.

It was lovely to see all the different versions of this people shared pics of in the ARty Farty Annie Group on Facebook, I'd love to see yours as well if you make some. We have a free Discord community now as well, where youcan also share your creations. LInks to both are in here - linktr.ee/artyfartyannie

❤ Good morning. Just found you Annie and I'm thrilled with your tuition. After patchwork quilting for many years, I've recently been introduced to slow stitching ad have felt so inspired to try this ideal hand craft. Now in my 80's with some eye sight loss and arthritic hands, I find machining a reasonably straight line has been frustrating with many unpickings! ... so this hand slow stitching will be a godsend and bring me much pleasure and satisfaction. Bless you Annie and I hope you have many years of showing others how to achieve such pleasure. With greetings to all others from Sheila in Devon.

Good morning Sheila, I'm so glad you enjoy my videos, it makes me very happy to think that I might inspire someone and help them get to know the pastimes I enjoy so much. Slow-stitching is so forgiving - any imperfections just add to the charm I think, and it's just so relaxing. I have lots more slow stitching projects in the pipeline, so watch this space! I'd love to see pictures of your projects if you'd be happy to share them - if you go to my Linktree in the description box, you'll find links to our Discord community, the facebook page and my email, whichever you prefer. Thanks so much for watching, take care and happy stitching :)

Thank you for watching Cynthia, I'm so glad you like this project, I've since done another video showing the final stitching in more detail and another recently where I show how it turned out if you'd like to see. I hope if'when you get to tick this off your bucket list that you'll show me how yours turns out :)

It would make a beautiful cushion cover too.

Funny enough, I very nearly did make it into a cushion, but in the end decided it would be easier to find a space for as a wrap. I do like making something useful out of my stitching - cushions, wraps, little baskets and so on, so they get used and enjoyed :)

I discovered your channel through Susan ( suzieqmakes) and she mentioned your string quilt. I love the concept, and you mentioned making a neutral colored quilt. So I'm starting one with whites, creams, tans, and grays. Will add lace as embellishments later. 3 squares done, I don't know how many to go.... Thank you!

P.S. I love your colors, but just finished a purple quilt for my daughter and my eyes need a break!😊

I'm still with you Annie now on square number six 😂 now I understand why raw edges are not a problem. Who would of thought I would enjoy slow stitching and still manage it.I have cushions under elbows for support then a lap tray with another cushion to support stitching all whilst lying on my bed but it's working taking ages but I am in no rush!!

Hey Diane, I'm so pleased you're stitching along and discovering the joys of slow-stitching and the whole point for me is to enjoy the process at your own pace, whatever that might be - otherwise it would be called quick-stitching wouldn't it? I might do another one using small scraps of silk and show how to do it without the raw edges and with just straight stitches. I'm SO looking forward to seeing how yours turns out - enjoy your stitching xo

Thanks so much Andrea, I'm so happy you like it - ah yes I also have a long list of things I'm going to get around to and even now I'm retired, there's still never enough time in the day is there?! :) I love Tori's channel too, she always has brilliant ideas and makes them very accessible and I think we have a very similar taste in colours :)

I’m still with you Annie, still playing with me square placements (so nervous about this bit didn’t want to get the placement wrong) today I will get in and sew them together. Right know I kind of know we’re I’m going, was thinking of doing a flower garden type embroidery accents so way different from what you’ve done, more of a picture rather than stitches, so can use these so thank you for showing us, feather stitch I got told was Y stitch very weird, but not to surprising as things are called different names for other craft. I’ve got some pretty cute buttons so watch out world here come Paula and I have a jolly big needle 🪡 lol.

Hey Paula, I'm happy you're still stitching along with me, I know from the pics you shared that it's going to look fab and I love the idea of a garden-themed embroidery on it, can't wait to see! Ah that stitch could well be called Y stitch for all I know, makes sense and honestly I'm very far away from being an expert embroiderer :)

Annie, did you stitch your square to the backing fabric before starting your decorstive stitcching? Thank you so much! Janet
@artyfartyannie
@artyfartyannie Жыл бұрын
Hi Janet - yes I did, it's the decorative stitching that helps to meld it all together and cover all the joins between the squares. I also added more trims and fibres along with the decorative stitching. I think there was a video after this showing that process in more detail. Hope that helps :)
