It's true. This is a 3 chord song, but those three chords are put to fantastic use. So much movement between all the interlocking parts. That's what funk is about.

i'm a '70s/'80s kid and i never get why my so many of my peers insist the '80s were better. the '70s were just fun as hell, across the board, and were far less superficial. the vibe was so right. i do have more '80s albums overall in my pile of music though ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ ah well none of us are perfect but anyhow i can't imagine anyone outdoing 'songs in the key of life'. at least not in my lifetime. whatever there is left... ope
@dukecraig24024 ай бұрын
@@EconAtheist That's probably because your albums from the 70's had one more decade of opportunities to get trashed and thrown away, like me, in the 80's since my Led Zeppelin albums were for the most part already trashed they were far more likely to be sacrificed when I needed an album cover to make a gasket out of for my Harley, I can't think of a better way for one to serve me one last time.

I'm a metal head. Having said that, THIS is my favorite song of all time. This may be thought of as funk but it's actually a metal song masquerading as such. I hope some metal band covers this song properly so we can hear it as it needs to be.

This particular version is lacking in sound quality, obviously....but the use of the synth is like the 5th Beatle for this number. Similarly, EW and F s version of Gotta Get You Into My Life shines because they happen to specialize with the horn sound....good music has high replay value, irrespective of genre
