I been doing Aikido for year and I love it and Sankyo is my best hold ever
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
+K Media In my opinion sankyo is the most realistic and practical wrist lock. Especially if applied off of a yubi dori (finger lock). Even tho I personally love nikyo, it's extremely difficult to apply in a real world situation. Sankyo can be applied fast and the attacker rarely ever see's it coming.

Lenny, your production values keep getting better. I watched the first 5 minutes of the video without seeing how you had applied sankyo and then you did a great job with going “tai ch” slow motion to clearly demonstrate the transition to the nikkyo grip and then grab the thumb for the sankyo. I totally missed it the first 2 times you did it! Awesome variation. Great detail in your description. Love stepping on the foot to handle troublesome students...lol You've got a good sense of humor. Keep up the outstanding work! I'm bringing this one to the mat this week.
@BiggLordofTigers7 жыл бұрын
wow that is a nice new idea on sankyo. nice!!! i also loved that this was less high energy and swearing and less responding to the trolls for the first 2 minutes of the video. this was serious and professional and also just enough of the "usual lenny" to lend it the street cred.... and this really is the first aikido ive seen with street cred outside of early seagal sensei. Keep up the great work. love the vids

Lori Powell Yeah I know we've had this discussion before. I've been taking a break from KZbin to focus more on the TenShin Aikido online class series. We now have over 200 video's and unfortunately only a small handful have made it to KZbin. You might want to consider becoming an online member. The online classes are very detailed and broken down for step by step learning, more so than the KZbin video's. www.roguewarriorstc.com

Sensei, never in 20 years have I seen anything like this sankyo technique. Fantastic! What will the haters say to this one? That said, I guess I'm the only one asking you to show your foot and hip positions and tai sabaki. I used to train and I think I've got it but I like to see it for sure. Of course the old masters hated to show them....

you no longer need to do the traditional aikido sankyo lock?
@fastend7 жыл бұрын
good question but he still seems to lock him quite well. This variation supplies the invisible lock:-). I am convinced the sankyo pain will not be different so therefore same principle. Beautiful.
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
PUshift Actually the pain is more than the the pain you feel from a regular Sanyo, it's a different kind of pain.
@fastend7 жыл бұрын
thxs, much appreciated:-) I also thought it may turn into a yonkyo-feeling. Does this match it better?
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
PUshift Actually no it doesn't, it's worse. It feels like your thumb is about to be dislocated.

lenny sly. I need a little help here. for IrimiNages. Some tai sabaki, tenkan around the attacker and throw. Some don't. Some push the lower back of the attacker while throwing. some don't. Some hook the elbow around the attacker's chin, and make a big circle while throwing. Some just push their arms right across the attacker's neck. Which one is the most efficient for a straight punch? We want something powerful and fast.

What advice can you give someone who wants to start training in aikido but has heard so much bad stuff about it? You may have proper technique and training but not all schools are good. I'm in the Queens, NY area. thank you
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS137 жыл бұрын
willc32917 Yeah that's tough to give you advice. I would look for an ASU affiliated aikido dojo under Shihan Mitsugi Saotome. That's my former organization that i was with for along time. I would NOT recommend a USAF AIKIDO DOJO, I don't think their aikido is any good.
