We have a 99 year old home with a laundry chute that is original to the house, if you can believe it! The chute empties into baskets right by the washer/dryer....which eliminates me walking about collecting laundry. The "no hamper" plan works amazing, I agree!!!

I have a similar bathroom layout to yours. We maximized space by using a pocket door. That allowed us a larger vanity, with more drawers for storage. I love the cabinet solution you came up with, so functional!!!

I've used the container system to manage bathroom clutter for years. So easy to know exactly what you have and not buy extras. When I have a cold and want meds, I just pull out that container. All the toothpaste and brushes together (yes, take them out of the packages and use zip bags for more space). Extra cosmetics all together and shaving stuff in a separate bin. The plastic bins are great, but I used shoeboxes for years until I "upgraded".

Impressed by the small bathroom for 6 people. I've gone through our bathroom (and only 2 of us) and thought I was pretty good, but there is still stuff in there I know we are not using. After watching your video I feel like that was the incentive I need to tackle my bathroom again. And I too like to see empty space it is freeing. I don't like clutter. We have a small linen closet with a 2-foot wide door, I hang a shoe organizer on for extra storage space. But we also keep our beach towels and the laundry basket in this closet as well. **I see blue on the kitchen cabinets... can't wait for the reveal.

Two challenges that Ive found when simplifying our bathrooms (and believe me is never going to be perfect) is that guilty feeling about the mistake... is really true... and not feeling guilty of the empty space... lol is so true but there we have to change our mindset bc otherwise it will get back to be huge mess again.

Great video! I loved the question you ask yourself, "Do I really want to handle this again?" That's a great question to ask about everything we go through. When we sort through things we have certain items that we don't even question. Either we know it has to go or we know we want to keep it. We need to use that question when we stand there contemplating whether we want to keep something. As I spend get rid of more things, I am more comfortable defaulting to getting rid of something rather than keeping it if I question it.

May I add a suggestion? Long ago when I worked in a retail bath shop we did this one wonderful thing and I’ve done the same from time to time-when you have bath items you are getting rid of (not expired) -things you tried once or twice but didn’t like, things that you just aren’t going to use , take them to a women’s shelter where women and children who have been in abusive situations live. Just to know, you wild need to call first because the shelter is actually normally not where you would take it because it is a secretive place normally, but they will have an office or other place you can take it. Sometimes they have to leave with just the clothes on their backs and any bath and body (and clothing and anything else like that) they can use. Even the guys stuff can be used because sometimes they leave with their children and some of those children are boys. Just a thought to help out others while we al clean out those items we don’t need.

The blue on the cabinets looks so good! We don’t have a lot of product so our bathroom is easy to clean. Soap, shampoo, conditioner and extra razors, that’s about it. We only have one set of white towels which I wash every couple of days. Love your bathroom and Hillary’s too. Tom is so fun!

bathroom org requires regular maintenance... i guess like everything else. we are in a large condo but with two small bathroom. each one only has a 24” sink vanity. we are able to contain all our bathroom things plus towels inside these 24” vanity cabinets for our family of four. and nothing is stuffed (bc it doesn’t work if it’s stuffed). real honesty though, it’s taken me FIVE years to get this org. it’s the concept that you realize you need/want to maintain less and less. thanks for your channel! it always makes me want to go back over an area and purge!

Love this you guys are ace! I literally did my bathroom last week because we had to downsize from a big family bathroom that was ALWAYS a mess to much smaller shower room. My Tom bought a wall of ikea mirrored medicine vanity cabinets. They are pretty shallow and everything had to fit. I totally love it. My tip is to re-use clear plastic fruit or vegetable containers (the small kind you get blueberries or raspberries in). These are the perfect size for shallow shelves but high sided enough for medicine boxes and tubes. 👍

Your home looks so clean and beautiful. I can't believe it's an older home - I thought it was practically new ! I loved your video, and I also loved Hillary's. I've been subscribed to her channel for years, and I've recently subscribed to yours. We're able to keep our bathrooms organized mostly by large medicine cabinets on the walls. I don't think people like to use medicine cabinets in their bathrooms anymore, but it works for us !

I'm gettin' the hang of this! In our bathroom cupboard I have deodorant, hairspray, q-tips and an eyeliner pencil! Each with their own spot! Champion!! That cupboard used to be CRAMMED with so much junk that I was SURE I needed. I'm working hard to keep our bathroom drawers minimal too. Now, getting ready in the morning is SO FAST...and satisfying...and way less stressful!

As a nurse I would caution keeping any medications in the bathroom. Medications do best in a cool, dry, dark space. For eg: I keep ours in a medicine bin in a linen armoire ( my home lacks closet space). I do not have a linen closet anywhere. TFS. My hubby works a lot of hours so remodeling will never happen which is okay. Simplifying needs vs wants helps me keep bathrooms clean and clutter free easily. Also I do use a pretty and closed up hamper. I store our towels and nightclothes in there. No one is the wiser, and that leaves me with more area in our smallish bedrooms to run my small business and do my 9-5 work from home job

I want to know also? You shower every night, I guess after everyone finished you wash them and put them away. I like to reuse my towel sometimes though, I dried off with no reason to call it dirty to me. Take more to wash and dry it on electricity than what it worth lol. I have 3 in my home and we have 8 towels lol. I dont wash towels every night, I dont have time for that. Well maybe I make time idk..
