Hi Again Keith and thanks for the info on the plywood that's best used. After a week of pulling my hair out and getting no where on trying to figure these mitered angles I ran into another fellow turner that experienced the same. Had to share his comment he made to me since I no longer feel in the boat alone. His quote, " There are a few gaps here and there. Making one of these is tricky because you can't just check that things are square. Until final assembly, you can't be sure that it will all fit at all. The whole thing really is miter joints from hell". I keep hoping as you stated months ago that one day we may see a more detailed description on making this. Just trying to make one to say I did it. I certainly commend you on the time I know you put into this. These truly are "Miters from Hell"......ha

Very cool. I make origami dodecahedrons every Christmas for the tree-- never thought of using plywood instead of paper, but I might have to try this. If you're feeling insane, you could go for the 390 unit model. 12 pieces with five, and the rest are blocks of six. It would be about twice the height of the bigger one you made, so there won't be anywhere to store it afterwards. ...unless you have a spare bedroom with double doors you never use. Great vid. Thanks!

Very cool, I like it. One thing I did notice is when you tilt the table saw and set up to rip those strips you should be tilting the blade AWAY from the fence instead of toward it to prevent wood binding and a possible kickback. Put the fence on the other side of the blade for safety!
@cblanton425 жыл бұрын
@John Sadler Correct, that's why you have to move the fence to the other side of the blade. I taught shop class for several years and just trying to show how to accomplish this as safely as possible.
