My experience of spoons (extensive) is the gut ruining combo of about 8 pints before someone inevitably starts coming back with trays of jaegerbombs and then everyone locks into double vodka red bulls until its time to stagger into a reallllly inhospitable looking club or late night bar. Then wake up fully clothed in bed with your shoes on feeling like you got flashbanged down town around 4am and teleported there in the few seconds of disorientation....burping red bull fumes. You should try that!

Wetherspoons don't water down their drinks. You get what you pay for, literally. If you order a gin and tonic, you get 25mm of gin (a single measure) and some tonic. If you go to independent pubs and bars they may be more liberal with their measures, but not always. The beers are anywhere from 3.5% to about 5.5% abv which is pretty standard in both the UK and the US. It depends which one you get. The spirts in Wetherspoons are anywhere from about 37% to 45%, depending on which one you get.

The thing with Wetherspoons is, whoever set it up managed to rescue a lot of historic old buildings by buying them and turning them into Wetherspoons locations.
