The CPU in the Switch is really ultimately its Achilles Heel (though the memory bandwidth/amount of RAM aren't doing it any favors either), particularly for games like this. It's also why so many Switch ports have unstable framerates.

The problem is that the cpu is too underclocked by Nintendo for good battery. In handheld it has 1.0 GHz and in Docked mode it goes t0 1.8 GHz without additional cooling. Because I have a modded switch this game runs great, I set it to 1.4 GHz instead of 1.0 and the game has a steady 30 fps (for my small city now at least).

@@squarestar326 Hellblade, sure, decent port, but then that's a very linear game with pretty hemmed in environments. Witcher 3 while yes, it's impressive it's running on the platform, has some very obvious technical caveats vs. every other version, including muddy textures, drastically thinned out vegetation, pulled in view distance etc. and the framerate is still just "okay" with populated areas (where the CPU would be hit hard) dropping frames pretty noticeably.

@@yellowblanka6058 i m lucky i never played those on any other plateforms , but i cant wait to have saved enough money to buy me anotger system bc i had no idea there was such a drastic difference tho, i expected it to be better o.c, but from what u said ....yikes! And what about crysis? Or doom? Or remnants from the ashes? Are those faulty ports too?( faulty as in the witcher i mean, not as in arkham knight.😅)

Props on the video, it is indeed amazing it runs at all on Switch. I was amazed when this got ported to Switch. I put in over 100 hours into it, owing to the convenience. It's too bad they couldn't keep patching it and adding expansions, but with Switch 2, I hope they do bring the sequel or a complete edition to that console.

I bought myself a switch OLED and the game went on special on my birthday. Had the switch for about 8 months before it went on special. It's regular $50CAD and it doesn't go on special often. For $50 it's way too expensive but I was happy I picked it up cheap. Even though it's very fun the frame drop is annoying and that's a big reason it's not worth $50.

And how did you get 100,000 inhabitants? I can only reach 20,000 on Switch or 8,000 lately. I’m not dealing with the city I guess, maybe it’s due to the electrical connection or whatever. But I’d like Natural Disasters DLC at least. But I agree with you in all facts you said.

I used to have the same problem, I figured that the solution to this is just to keep your services up to date, once you have the water and electrical running smoothly, your city will naturally explode in population.

I'm able to get this game on switch for free ($10AUD, but I have enough points to get it for free) and I think I'll just hold off for a very long while until I get a gaming PC later this year. Thanks for the true review, but we're living in a world where technology is rabid and everything needs to be fast otherwise the slightest inconvenience can piss you off :P

I saw your video about the game of City Skylines of Nintendo switch, because I'm looking for some evaluation about it. But actually I'm a bit confused because I saw some people saying that isn't a great game, but others also say that is an acceptable game. You recommend me to buy this game?

Cities Skylines itself is hands down the best city building game out there. However, the Switch Edition specifically isn’t the best way to play it, as it does have some performance limitations, doesn’t include all the DLCs and isn’t updated anymore. But as you saw, it’s totally playable, and I think I played around 25 hours for this video. Ideally, I'd recommend it on a different platform if available, otherwise this is a lot of fun regardless, and definitely a must-play. However, maybe people are referring to Cities Skylines 2. That’s a different game, and not on the Switch. It launched with a lot of performance problems, many bugs and way below people's expectations. Everyone’s quite negative about that one. Maybe that's where you get that impression?

Also, I don't have an Xbox or a Play Station, nor do I like to play games on my computer, but I really wanted to play this game, which is why I was so interested in the Nintendo Switch version. Ahh okay! As long as you're fine with some features missing compared to the PC, Xbox and PS version, you'll definitely enjoy it 😁 I'd go as far as to say that it's easily the best city builder on the Switch

I think they should at least let you purchase mods, (especially the older less laggy ones) add a bit more maps and especially let you use buildings and maps outside of their designated themes for more playability
