Jedistarship She probably was pushed back but she would've caught herself midair off screen. Also, I think this was done to show that she was stronger. There was three things to take into consideration. 1) At this point in time Kara didn't know how to hold back, and didn't care to learn. 2) Clark always holds back. 3) Even if he didn't he still never reached his full potential, and that doesn't simply mean he can't fly.He probably doesn't even match Kara's average physical strength until seasons 9-10.

Superman in her universe does not need to be protected either, he was older than her when she arrived to earth. She never needed to be badass from the start. It better to see her journey into becoming a glorified badass.

From what I recall, that was an issue when Smallville wasn't able to use the actual Kara/Supergirl yet, so they figured they would toss that in and never speak of it again. Then later, they were able to actually use Kara, and so her inclusion into the story began. But I guess she wasn't ever actually that popular because I barely remember her being part of the show.
