Thanks. I had this idea a while ago but haven't implemented yet. Great to see you have one working for 2 years. Thanks for sharing

Thanks - you were going to do it for Smart Roadster too?

@@phoenixs3 No. I had no idea of the Smart Roaadster. I was looking at converting a regular car and adding actuators for speed, brake and steer.

Hi Seb, I saw this and your other smart roadster video and was wondering if you're willing to be paid to convert other cars as well? I've been looking at the dodge challengers around 2020 but one of the biggest downsides was the adaptive cruse only works above 30kmh and only has lane keep (not lane centering). Do you think this might be a vehicle that's convertible to work with open pilot much like your smart roadster?

Have you considered simply hijacking and modifying the analogue torque signal? I think original steering controller could be used then. FYI I have just converted my roadster to electric by using all of guts from 451 ED3. Different steering rack, but same connector and signalling.

this is dangerous as if it goes wrong theres nothing really limiting the torque applied by the EPAS. this method is far safer and means you dont have to add any piggy back ecu or adapt vehicle wiring harness in any way! Thats really cool i would love to see any build pictures and more details on what the steering rack is like feel free to email me at sebsmith3@gmail.com
