This was the original version actually. It just never worked in the studio for Butch so it kept on being pushed back but finally the last attempt was done acoustically late around 2am after everyone went back to their hotel. But before all hope was lost. It came out way better than expected so Butch flew down a violinist at last moment from Chicago to Atlanta, laid down the strings and did vocals the following morning at 11am and that was a wrap. Siamese Dream was complete and the rest is history. ❤️

No - well, depends really. Its a dark sombre song about Billy wanting to kill his parents but couldnt, so he wrote Disarm. As for this version; the lyric "cut that little child" didnt go down well with all media folk in the uk at the time; hence this heavier version to 'mask' that lyric.

This version of the song is on the Vieuphoria dvd/vhs. This video isn’t too clear on KZbin, but in the dvd the quality is much better and shows that James has a very dull expression while he plays almost as if he didn’t want to be there. I wonder if at 0:54 billy gave him that look because of it?? Just an observation

I KNOW Corgan can SHRED, for a fact. I worked at a rock club and I had built a guitar that I was telling some coworkers about and Billy asked to see it and he ended up plugging it into his live rig (this was in the middle of the day during soundcheck) and he strummed some chords, played a Pumpkins riff, THEN FUCKING SHRED UP AND DOWN AND UP AND DOWN AND UP AND DOWN THE NECK! The dude can shred with the best of 'em. It's beyond me why he put up with Ol' Jimbo as long as he did (FYI, Ol' Jimbo is back in the SP's as of late. Yes, 3 guitarist a la The Eagles) My only guess is Billy wanted 2 guitars to sound big live, play complicated harmony parts live and finally so he could play rhythm and concentrate on singing. That's my only guess. Im not familiar with what guitar parts are his or James' throughout the albums. But I do know James is not a necessity, nor was a bassist we won't name by name. The Joe Rogan/Billy Corgan pod cast was fuckin great. Check it out if you haven't yet.
