Corgan's solo is obviously epic for so many reasons - no doubt about it. Hands down a superior guitar player. But the continuation of the solo during the bridge by Iha is so, so critical and well executed every time I hear the live versions of this song. When Billy starts singing again and takes over the power chords, it's just a perfect example of everyone in the band knowing their role at any given time. Iha doesn't get the respect that he deserves!!!

yes, and of course it doesn't do any harm that Billy is a perfectionist.

Every time I hear a great SP cut, I can't help but think of David, my college roommate at Cornell during the late 80s/early 90s. He expanded my musical tastes immensely by turning me on to SO MANY great alt-bands and their albums! In 1991, he gave me a cassette recording he made of Gish, and said to me, "Try this, it doesn't hurt at all..." lol In '94 he lost everything he owned, including his entire music collection. to a fire. Then, about 15 years ago, this world lost David to his addiction. Such a great, but seemingly cursed and hopelessly flawed human being. Thanks for all the great times in and after college. I'll always miss our friendship, but hang onto the memories, bud.

Yeah pixies never had the catalog sp had. It's just masterpeice after masterpeice with them. They have so many great songs. That a mind blower like starla can be elusive to people that don't dive into the band. I truly believe sp was more than just that. I believe as pompous as Billy is. He was our modern day Mozart. Not sure anything can beat this. Pumpkins have always been my favorite band and will forever be so. The first time I heard Siamese Dream in the 90s changed music for me forever. Mellon Collie is a roller coaster ride of emotions and is the 90s version of Dark Side of the Moon. Nothing ever released can top these two albums.

@hollowify_tensa_zangetsu3 жыл бұрын
@@MyBeautifulDarkTwistedFantasy6 not at all. Mellon collie was more creative and brilliant then anything Radiohead puts out. I know siamese dreams was the album this gentleman said was dark side. But siamese is meddle and mellon collie is dark side.if we are in comparison of floyd and pumpkins. Radiohead is amazing dont get me wrong. But they have a formula. Pumpkins always tried to evolve. Even if it was not what "critics" wanted. Radiohead is "critics" darling 1st born. Pumpkins just like RUSH were left field, misunderstood, and at the mid 90s NO band DARE put an album out that was completely different from there others. Radiohead only did this from pablo honey to kid A after that they could do no wrong. Pumpkins went gish,siamese, Mellon collie,Adore,machina and so on. I see evolution every album progressed them to what they became. And they are pink floyd of the 90s.

My top for Pumpkins carnage was probably the height of their ‘96 tour. There’s a particularly good version of XYU and Porcelina floating around out there. Best fucking band in the world. They were, at least. ❣️💔🖤 sold out fan as a teenager. I would have died for SP. My room was a shrine. I had 300 boots by the time I was 16. So fucking sad to see my band fall off so hard.
