Literally breaks my heart to see japan so empty, I was just in Osaka last year and it was so different back then.. was supposed to visit again this April but had to cancel my travel plans and I’m still so upset I missed japan this year! Thank you for the video which really takes me down memory lane, there is no other country I want to fly to except for japan once this annoying COVID is over for good!!!

Absolutely loved the walk through the side street with the history! So interesting! Also totally relate to how bizarre it is right now. I live in Washington DC and in comparison the tourist areas are like a ghost town. I keep reminding myself over and over that we are in the middle of a pandemic...but it’s still sooooo weird.

This is one of my fave videos. Love the back alleys and hidden little shops and shrine. Osaka seems like a very culture rich and artistic place. One thing I always look forward when travelling alone is the hidden spots. Usually these places have the best aesthetic & stories.

Like so many of your viewers whose Japan trips were interrupted, I cannot wait to travel to Japan again. Your video brought back memories of getting lost in the Namba/Dotonbori area. Had no idea where we had wandered to and had to ask several people how to get back to Namba Station!

I've done something like Takoyaki before. I am a volunteer at "Lebenshilfe" (Lifesupport), a non-profit organization that takes care of people with disabilities. But we used a cake pop maker. We filled it with everything we liked. It was great fun for my group.

Love this vid. I was at Dotonburi just last year during Xmas. It’s quite shocking to see how different it is now. I also tried the takoyaki place by the river and it was decent. Next time, i will try my luck at the ferris wheel and the udon restaurant you’ve recommended. Stay safe and continue exploring and eating.

I kept repeating to myself too but it is REALLY sad and depressing seeing how empty Dotonbori is. When I went last year it was shoulder-to-shoulder traffic, standing around long lines for street food or waiting to be seated in a restaurant. I really hope those businesses survive long enough to take in tourists again.

I would love to visit Dotonbori when its really empty like this. Went there first time in 2007 it was similar to this, and the last time we visit (Jan this year) it was so full of tourist! Anyway, I would love to be able to visit Japan for the 6th time 😁👍 Hopefully next year? On a side note, that Takoyaki place doesn't have a Japanese people working there. Mostly Thai or Vietnamese. It was a surprise to see an actual Japanese worker there. 😊 And... Shinichi-san, did you know you get more than what you paid for? I think in the menu it says 6 pieces?

I might be wrong, but I think after they removed the neon lights from the Glico sign it doesn’t light up at night anymore. I remember taking video of it at night when it still had neon illumination, but when I tried again a couple of years ago, after the change, I waited for it to light up but it never happened 😥

Osaka is very empty because there are no foreign tourists. The area might be busier on the weekend. Were you there midweek? Rion Ishida was in Tokyo when you were in Osaka. He found Tokyo very crowded. He's back in Osaka now and I think you're back home in Tokyo. Mikey Chen is locked down in a 14 day quarantine in South Korea. Say a prayer that he's getting decent food...
