Do you use the rest of the injection mixture for gravy?
@travisbromm95504 жыл бұрын
Absolutely fantastic. I threw the rosemary and thyme from the injection into the cavity (I'm not a food scientist but why not?) for an added bonus. Hands down the best Turkey I have ever had. We sent some to other family members who were also distancing for the holiday and they loved it. The skin was awesome (I gnawed on the wings and drumsticks later that night) and the meat was juicy. Unfortunately now the bar is set to high and I have to pretend to enjoy the good ole Aunt Susan cooked in a bag turkey during the next covid free holidays.

My Rec Tec makes that smoky taste so so nice. I always do 2 turkeys the splatch-cock method each one with different brine and seasoning. Then everyone gets lots of left overs to take home and enjoy. Yum yum I’ve been doing the Thanksgiving cooking for my wonderful Family for 35 years - I’ve tried everything - the RecTec beats everything else hands down for excellent taste, lovely moist meat and beautiful presentation. You guys should send a grill to Martha Stuart - I bet she she would fall in love with it immediately

Hello- I know this is an old video, but I'm a new recteq 700 owner, trying to learn the ropes. The title of this video is "Smoked Whole Turkey". Is it actually smoked? At 350F? This seems like a great recipe for a roasted turkey. Curious if people are getting any smoke flavor at all when cooking a turkey at this temp. Many thanks.

Hey Ray and recteq community - I am enjoying my recteq RT-700 tremendously, and I want to try out this Turkey recipe for the Holidays. However, I am unable to find the following ingredients you have listed: Durty Gurl Bloody Mary Rub and REC TEC Grills Casanova's Competition Rub. Have these products been discontinued? Assuming so, do you or any of the folks on this thread have a suggestion on what to substitute for these Rubs? I would greatly appreciate the responses. I'd love to use my smoker to take care of the Thanksgiving Turkey. Thanks in advance, Bill "Recking it in CA"

Is putting a pan underneath not a good idea? Would like to catch drippings for gravy, but not at the cost of uneven cooking. Noticed Ray did not use pan......
@vsavatar4 жыл бұрын
Is there a reason you didn't use peanut or olive oil as a binder before putting the rub on? Also, my injector has volume settings on it between 1-5 mL per squirt (it's the Spit Jack Magnum). What setting do you recommend? I've got a slightly modified version of this in the Rec-Tec bull now. I stuffed some onions, applies, and garlic in the cavity. I'm looking forward to seeing how this comes out.
@recteq4 жыл бұрын
Binders are not necessary, it all depends on personal preference! Ray didn't use one this time because the outside of the turkey was moist enough to hold the seasoning. As for the injector, it all depends on the size of the meat and which muscle you're injecting! Chef Greg typically uses setting #3 for smaller cuts/muscles. You might want to bump it up to #4 or #5 for a turkey this size. 🤘🔥

@curtisgilreath22213 жыл бұрын
No. It’s filled multiple times. But once you have a whole. Use that same whole in different directions. Fewer wholes keeps the bird from drying out. So maybe 6 injection sites total. 2 Breast, 2 Thighs, 2 drum sticks….

If your interested in this recipe forget about trying to get any of these Recteq Seasonings as Recteq removed these several years ago and no longer can be found. It would be really nice as a great company that Recteq would update their Videos to current suggested substitute instead of the typical Big Company middle finger. I thought they would be better than this. Seriously, how long would it take your tech staff to add a substitute this for that.
