On April 8 2024, the US deployed two modified WB-57 Canberras to follow the total solar eclipse happening that day. Apparently, NASA still uses the Canberras for observational/research purposes. I don't know if the currently used Canbarras still employ cartridge starts.

I think that the NASA WB57 Canberra uses American engines so possibly not, but I'm not 100%sure

Is David and Peter Walton still involved with the aviation side. Many years ago my company brought a B747-200 in which we tore down over a period of time happy days remember hiring a marquee for an air show that was hosted at Bruntingthorpe, they were real nice guys, give them my best Charlie McEwan (Mach Avia Ltd)

100 Sqn used to visit RAF Kinloss in the early 90's with their Canberras, they used cartridge starts. The Nimrods on SAR standby used LPAST's, two different ways but the same idea.

Awesome video. Sad about it all coming to an end. Buccaneers have already left. I hope nothing gets scrapped.
@ianstewartaviation26343 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching it is sad and Covid-19 may have helped it’s demise anyway, the only aircraft scrapped so far I believe is the Super Guppy and frankly I see the tristars and VC10,s going the same way.
@sturmtigerking42633 жыл бұрын
@@ianstewartaviation2634 so has the guppy been broken up then? I know it was moved to the scrapping apron. the Tristars apparently might be bought by an American company same with one of the vc10s. How true that is though. If the guppy has been scrapped then that is sad as 11 years worth of work from volunteers went into that.
@sturmtigerking42633 жыл бұрын
I just checked and yes, sadly F-BTGV was broken up

Well, if you haven't got a BRE snorting flames and smoke, banging its way through the start, you might as well have a jet of smoke for a whiney engine!
