I understand there will be some more "mainstream" fans of Ed that aren't familiar with SBTV and its relevance in Ed's career growth. Before Ed was the "star" he became, Jamal Edwards (founder of this channel SBTV and the series F64) pretty much gave Ed his first true immersion in front of the camera. He truly believed in Ed's talent and would put Ed into countless opportunities for no cost because he truly believed in Ed's talents (and it's not just Ed he did this for. Half of the UK's surge in the past decade could be attributed to Jamal and SBTV including the likes of Jessie J and more). He wasn't Ed's manager. He wasn't his agent. He didn't earn anything from Ed's album sales. He just gave Ed the shots he could because he truly was an aficionado of talent and great musicians and felt they deserved to be elevated if you could help them. Jamal was known to give people a shot irrespective of whether they could afford it or not. He loved music and was an anchor for many stars, both established and those that are upcoming in the British scene. If he thought you were talented/hardworking he would just give people a shot because he understood his position was to elevate the talents he came across, irrespective of whether he made any money from them or not. Just a through-and-through fan of music. He is a BIG loss for the world. An incredible shining beacon and did so much in the short time he was here. From music, to art, to inspiring primary school kids. And with this in mind, you can probably try to understand the hurt that Ed is going through. The one person who believed in you when no-one did. The one who was in your corner and would always be by your side pushing you. And you both made it through the unimaginable to become great successes... it feels like it was the moment where you start building the second chapter and become a dynasty. Begin gearing towards reaching for even more and start laying the next frontier infrastructure for music together. Neither were supposed to lose the other. That's not how the story is supposed to go! I can only imagine the huge pain and emotional heartache and burden this is for Ed, for Jamal's family, for the whole SB team.. and for the whole industry. Because I for sure will remember what Jamal's contribution was and the shining light he was. Rest in Peace Jamal Edwards.

It may be in all honesty which is crazy cause it doesn’t even have his signature guitar & the chorus is the only part he sings. Ed can rap for sure but this just hits on a different level, raw emotion & experiences put into a song.

This is probably one of the most raw and heartfelt tributes I have ever heard. Definitely hits hard for those who saw Ed come up at a time where Jamal created a platform and more for artists that didn’t have one. I remember the days I used to convert SBTV videos into MP3 files so I can listen to them on my way to school and Bluetooth them to my mates. Ed is clearly a generational talent and has proved how versatile of an artist he really is. I know Jamal is proud and happy for your blessings Ed. Stay strong and carry on blessing the world with your art through Jamal’s legacy. Thank you for everything Jamal.

My mum used to take my CD player off me when I was younger when I’d been a little shit because that’s the only thing that would make me listen. I could not have put it any better! I met Jamal once back in 2012 at an event put on by Richard Branson for young people looking to get into business. The beaming smile on his face in the photo I got with him says it all - the fact he was at an event like this to help support any young people he could goes miles for demonstrating his personality and selflessness. I remember watching Ed on SBTV from the start and this song is such an incredibly powerful tribute.

Substract hit me to my core. I lost my dad just a few days before Christmas 2022 and I have troubles expessing the pain I have in my heart. I’ve been watching Ed since his Chubby Bunny challenge and he’s been my go-to artist each time I was going through something in my life. Good or bad. For over a decade now. And when I needed it the most, here comes Ed with Substract. Puting his heart out and being vulnerable to the world. Really inspiring. This gig…ah. What a tribute to Jamal. You’ve done an amazing job and it is a wonderful gesture to put this song onto SBTV Channel instead of yours. Jamal is surely proud of you, Ed, and he will tell you that once you see each other again. I hope, my dad will be proud of me too, when I see him again in heaven. May all the ones we lost fly high and protect us from above. Rest in peace. 🤍

Raw, heartfelt, the pain of grief and yet the comfort of memories. What an incredible song, may Jamal rest in the peace. With Ed, Jamal saw way back then what the rest of the world is blessed with now. Such an emotional and amazing performance. Long live SBTV ❤️

I’m an Ed Sheeran tribute, but that is one song I won’t cover, that’s totally personal between Ed and Jamal and I think it should stay that way. A beautiful tribute.❤

I hope this song, along with the 2 Ed dedicated to Jamal on his record Subtract helped Ed to process the loss of his best friend Jamal. May the beacon of light Jamal brought to the world never fade, even in his absence.

I remember meeting Jamal one night in the smoking area of a club in Vauxhall. He was incredibly humble with a very welcoming energy, even though at that time he had been the major driving force behind the progression of the UK music scene. I still have the picture we took together on my phone, and will keep it with me forever. He was one of a kind, and influenced so many lives for the better. RIP Jamal, your legacy will continue to live on ❤🌠

Heartbreaking. Jamal was so positive, just lifting and loving all he crossed paths with. Beautiful. If not for Jamal’s strength and support, there might not be an Ed Sheeran, world star.

Wow, just watched Brenda on Loose Women, then came here to listen to Ed’s tribute. Brenda said every word from start to finish was true… wow, utterly beautiful, touching, and true… you can hear the truth in every word. Sending all the Love in the word to Brenda, Tanisha, Ed & all family & friends of Jamal’s amazing young life & all of his accomplishments. Come on you blues… we done similar with Chelsea blue ribbons when my love past away, totally get it. #everythingislove 💙 x

Incredibly beautiful tribute. The plethora of musicians that Jamal believed in and gave an opportunity to is unfathomable and the world is a darker place without him.
