I made this dish, added almost a pound of the little baby red potatoes. they were the size of grapes.i added them when the onions went in, covered for ten minutes or so then added peppers sausage covered for a bit then cabbage. It turned out to be a good meal. I will likely add in meal rotation. I liked it alot, so did the wife.

Oh man. I made this today (with a few variations) and it was heavenly. I used Turkey Bacon & Turkey Polska Kielbasa since I don't eat pork. I also used Cajun Seasoning, Black Pepper, Paprika & Tumeric in place of the garlic, and four colors--red, yellow, orange & green--of bell pepper. Since Turkey Bacon doesn't yield as much fat as its beef and pork counterparts, I added more butter, unsalted butter to be precise. I'll definitely be making this again. Thanks!
@EdelweisSusie Жыл бұрын
In other words you made a totally different dish! Love it.

I just made this. As promised, it was easy, and it turned out great! And yes, since it has no rice, beans, potatoes, or bread, it's almost zero-carb. I customized it a bit; instead of green and yellow peppers, I used red pepper and celery. It's delicious, and it's also very efficient. You chop the onions while you're cooking the bacon; you chop the pepper while you're cooking the onion; you chop the sausage while you're cooking the pepper ... etc. So you don't need a lot of prep time, or a big counter, or extra dishes to hold all the ingredients. Thanks, AB!

This is exactly how I cook my cabbage! It’s a go to because it’s easy and damn good You can even add a little chicken broth to get more liquid and serve it over rice. I add chicken to it sometimes as well. It’s a meal in itself. My wife’s family is Cajun and her grandparents smothered the cabbage using oil and sugar and added chicken and onion. The sugar gets everything a nice golden brown. It’s really good!

Working in a restaurant I learned that the best way to get the core out of lettuce and cabbage is to take the head in your hands and smash it down somewhat hard on the countertop or on a carving board, and, voila, you can now pull the core straight out. Also, for onions ... if you don't want to cry while cutting into them, first remove the root. In a circular motion with a small knife start cutting around hard end of the onion. Make sure that you go deep into the onion, but not all the way to the end. Once you have completed the circle around the end, pull the core out by hand or knife, and throw away.
