practical, to the point with good demonstrations. perfect length video too. lots of violinists talk for 10 min. before they ever demonstrate anything! nicely done!

Thank you so much! My teacher always said to prepare a string crossing, but your explanation with first the elbow and then the wrist made it click in my mind.

This is great timing for me! I’ve been practicing a Bach piece and a minuet of mine and having trouble with quick string changes (one featuring up bow on A then D and immediately back to down bow on A; and a grupeto down bow on A with an immediate up bow on E) I’ll be using your method in practice and focus on those two parts and see if I can learn it effectively!

How do you do it in Concerto in a minor first movement Vivaldi in measure 63
@JoyLeeViolin Жыл бұрын
Hi Fan, here is a video for you. Near the end of the video around 8:00 you will be able to get an idea about the measure 63. I hope this would help. Happy practising! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXm1hHyemdCJfq8

How about string crossing at frog, both separated and slurred downbow and upbow from a to e / d to a / g to d ? Thank you very much.
@JoyLeeViolin4 жыл бұрын
String crossings at the frog is harder as the frog is much heavier. However if you can utilize the finger joints well, it can certainly be done nicely. Happy violin practising!

When I go from note G on D string to A string I get like a 'pull off' on the D string which I don't want?
@JoyLeeViolin6 жыл бұрын
I am sorry but I can't picture the problem. can you explain better?
@JNITLOST6 жыл бұрын
The string I leave rings out. For example going from D to A I get an unwanted extra note on D. Maybe I am not clearing it properly? Thank you

Hi Ahmet, I believe I played an etude piece in my own version to show this specific technique. However the same kind of technique can be worked with Kreutzer etude no. 13. I hope you can try. Happy practising!

Thanks your video. I want to ask a question, when I play E note on A string use my little finger, the bow space (up and down) is very narrow and my bow is very easy to touch E or D string. How can I overcome this? Do my little finger need to slightly press down E string to avoid touch it?
@JoyLeeViolin3 жыл бұрын
Dear Gguitar, when you place the bow closer to the bridge the string will have higher tension , therefore you should have better a chance to keep the bow on the same string without touching the neighbouring strings. Also try to adjust the right elbow height as it has to be readjusted constantly as it changes. Here is a video you might find it helpful. Happy practising! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJzdlH-Zmb2agbs
@gguitar1413 жыл бұрын
Oh, I just see your reply . And I catch the method by moving bow closer to bridge by myself, haha.. I think the bow technique is really hard which need to examine thoroughly for each motion…..thanks for your video, I know it’s hard to teach by video, everyone’s motion are not the same.

Hi thanks for this material it's really useful! Could you do a video about playing in higher positions, like 4th position. I'm working on Bach Allegro in A Minor and getting a bit stuck on the section with slurred runs and then just after it.
