Ed Ames (b. July 9, 1927) is a highly acclaimed and veteran traditional pop singer and actor with an operatic baritone who became famous during the 1960s. As an actor, he is best known for co-starring as Mingo in the TV series, "Daniel Boone." Prior to going solo as a performing artist, he had served as the lead singer of the hugely popular 1950s sibling quartet, The Ames Brothers. Ames' best known songs include the nostalgic "Try To Remember" (1965), the romantic "My Cup Runneth Over" (1967), and the haunting Gregorian chant-styled protest song, "Who Will Answer?" (1967).

This was my grandma and grandpa’s wedding song in 1967. It was sung at my Grammy’s funeral by a guy who sounded a lot like Josh Groban. Cannot stop crying when I hear this song now. RIP Grammy, I still miss you lots.

Thank you for the chance to truly experience the ORCHESTRA, too. Put headphones on, close yuur eyes, and really listen to that orquestra beginning at the 1:05 mark ... what magnificent arrangements; so much more unpredictable than I had remembered them to be. And I never appreciated the subtle brilliance of Ed Ames' singing when I was younger. He could have oversung so many moments in such a hamfisted manner with that magnificent voice of his, but he infuses the sound with more and more love. Thank you to this channel, thank you to the orchestra, and thank you to Ed Ames. For all these years, I never forgot your great gift to us.

It's such a shame that so many of these great artists had to lip sync on TV. This is one of those. Believe me, I know. Ed Ames was my favorite from the time I was 3 or 4 years old and I'm now in my 70s. I have played this song from his album 100s of times and this is lip synched. No one sang this better, not even Gordon MacRae, another of my favorites. Maybe that's just how it was back then.
