No idea about matchmaking on PSN as I only play Room Matches, but the Chizuru bug seems to be PC-only. These issues make it only harder to dream about cross-play, SNK can't make the game even work properly on all platforms. BTW, game needs a connection filter for player rooms ASAP.

I play PS5. It seems like a 50/50 thing. Half of the time if I try to find a match it'll take less than a minute, otherwise it'll take literally 5+ mins. And I've tried doing what others have said with training standby, but it's the same 50/50 situation from the couple hundred matches I've played.

That breaks my heart. I love KOF and it has so much going for it. But SNK is crippling themselves. I just wish they would fix the matchmaking and the glitches. From my experience waiting in training mode speeds it up for some reason, but even then it still takes too long, and more often then not I end up rematching the exact same player over and over when I'd like some variety.

To be honest, I don’t get where all this is coming from. I’ve been playing on series s since launch, (a console which one would not expect a majority of the player base to be on) and the longest I’ve had to search for a match is maybe 2 or 3 minutes in the wee hours of the morning. I don’t think people are lying, but to compare this to a launch like sfv, or even other snk titles like samsho 19, is just not correct from my experience. Edit: (I’ve played about 200 ranked matches, maybe that isn’t much, but it’s worked just fine those times I payed. What I DONT like is how matchmaking it’s self works; for example, I’ll be matched up with the same opponent 10 times in a row and it isn’t a very balanced way to match people because it almost always ends in me winning 10 straight or losing 10 straight respectively.)

Dunno why anyone is surprised, this is exactly what happened with Samsho. Bugs for days, long ass load times, horrific netcode, and busted lobbies. Yet SNK didn't even ACKNOWLEDGE any of these problems, and continued to shit out DLC characters for a game people couldn't even play properly. KOFXV is doomed to suffer the same fate, languishing for years on end with no support from the devs.

@@o_oro-q1k umm sure... It's the mechanics. They make no sense to me... Like why when I successfully AA my opponent can they land faster than I recover and combo me? Why does my grab always whiff on oki? Everyone just jumps constantly, that''s annoying.... Some characters (gato, rock) have obnoxiously op jumping normals that can't even be AA'd without instant DP inputs meaning you have to spend the whole match buffering dp in case the enemy jumps at you randomly. On top of just plain not enjoying the gameplay that much and still trying to get into it I found that the community was really lame. Since matchmaking is broken I would use 'rooms' to find matches. I would post a room for 'beginners' which would proceed to fill up with champion level players (normally that's fine I can learn from them but...) who, apron noticing I'm new, would stop playing normally and just do some cheap gimmicks on me until I quit. Things like picking that stupid fat american characters and just spamming hyper armor grab and other nonesense like that. Being pissed off from the lack of finding good matches and make my way to reddit and discord. I find some matches in a community discord and, again, it's only got champion level players in it (because I guess the game is already dead even though it's only been out for a couple months?). I tell them 'hey, I'm only a couple days in maybe you can help me learn". They then proceed to stomp me and when I ask 'why does grab always whiff on oki?" or other questions about how the game works and guess what they do? Instead of answering me and helping a new player out they linked me to the Justin Wong video of him memeing on a little kid online (i'm sure you've seen the clip). They then spammed memes and gloated about their win rather than helping me or answering my questions. I go to reddit and ask the same questions on the sub reddit and was completely downvoted and, again, memed on. Responses were basically 'get good' with another person linking the exact same justin wong video. This is fking unacceptable treatment of new players especially when your game is brand new and ALREADY struggling to keep it's playerbase. Overall the game was a huge waste of money for me and I regret purchasing it. I pretty much never want to play another KOF again, ever.

I miss the good old days in the arcade when a smile and a nod is more than enough to land me a match, and if you go often enough you eventually get to know all the regulars and recognize the ones you can match up against fairly, and the ones that will just eat your money. I laughed and cried through every KOF those days all the way up to KOF2003, including the 2k2plus and Neowave crack versions. Good crazy times.

My first KOF game, and I really enjoyed it for that first week, even though those cancel windows are really small and I could never cancel into super. I come back after playing a metric ton of Elden Ring, and I got no matches in 20 minutes. What a bummer.

If you hold the buttons after inputing the super the game repeats the inputs up to 10 frames. That should help you getting supers at the end of combos. Be careful if you have a super that can be held, though (like Kyo's fire), as soon as you see the flash of the super let the buttons go =P.

@@AndresLionheart I'm familiar with the button hold trick, but compared to Guilty Gear or Skullgirls, where you can cancel pretty much any time after the move hits, these cancel windows are still small for my taste, plus it doesn't really show you where the window is even in training mode. And now at this point, I've got no reason to work on it since I won't really have people to play the game with anyway.

I played online one day and it matched me with a rotation of 2 ppl. Any connection, any rank, anywhere and I only get 2...after I fought and won the match against those two, they kept refusing to fight me again...can't blame em. So yeah.. matchmaking.

Its too bad... KOF15 is so much fun! Part of what killed Soul Calibur 6 were bugs and the bad matchmaking. It didnt help when a patch would come out that would fix some bugs, but introduce others. While the matchmaking was leagues better than KOF15, it was also sited as part of the game people didn't like.

When a few minutes go by and I haven't found a match, I've had some success switching my region from 'Any' to 'My Region' or vice versa. Maybe this requeues you or something, but in my experience this tends to give matchmaking a 'kickstart' and I usually find the next match shortly thereafter. Could be placebo but it really has worked for me- I think drilling combos in training standby and switching regions every so often is the best way to mitigate this problem. Try it if you're having problems. Then again I've apparently had better luck than most with matchmaking and rarely wait more than a minute, even when queuing up at 1 or 2AM. Which I'm very grateful for- I think KOF is the most fun I've had with a fighting game since SF4 and one of the high points in the genre to be sure

I don't know about PC but on ps console if finding a match is taking too long, just exit ranked match then reenter and you more often than not will find a match super quickly, I do it all the time on PS4 and it works.

I usually queue up for games in kof while in training mode and it seems to find games much quicker. I do admit it takes a while (maybe a minute or two), but it does seems to help

that's so brutal... I was literally ready to spend my 80 bux and play my first KoF game but then I saw the reviews... Checked reddit then found this. Really too bad, I don't know why the PC market is getting so shafted these days. If you're going to release on our platform at least have the respect to give us a working product. Elden Ring was another huge disappointment on the pc front at launch. There is a decent chance that I just forget about kof forever and they lost a potential customer, especially if they never adress it (it sounds like they wont).

What's an even bigger shame is that they tightened the netcode. I used to have bad times with people over 100 ms but now they're much smoother. The netcode is better and I can barely enjoy it. What's so odd is that SNK isn't 'lazy', they've been very quick to fix other things so I genuinely think it's not that they don't WANT TO fix it, they just don't KNOW HOW.

I play while training and I find a match every time. I just don't see you none of your issues that other people are having and that's in almost everything that I play. I am so lucky one example that comes in mind the Marvel's avengers game the bugs that game has horrible bugs I almost never experienced any of them. The Falling through the floor. But once you land it's playable for the most part. I still play as maybe small stuff like when you complete a mission you don't get your perks and that has happened to me but in a nutshell I don't experiencing the stuff that other people experience

For what it's worth, there seems to be less people playing in ranked as well... I logged into the game randomly, it took me less than a minute to find a casual match... but it took 4 mins or so searching ranked before an error ocurred and had to search again, then it took about 3 minutes to find a match with someone who cancelled (my filters were similar rank/any/all for both searches). So yeah, it seems there's also more people playing casual, which might be compounding the issue. Edit: tried casuals again, got matches in seconds... se yeah... might be a factor.
