Snow Blowing To Make My Walking Trails. 2-18-20

Hi! Friends! ..... I sure do find unusual things to keep myself busy during the winter. Ha! Ha! ... I enjoy walking in the forest several times a day with my dog Bear. But as winter progresses, and last's for 5 or maybe 6 months, the snow can get very deep, and become icy, and difficult to walk in.
Due to my health problems, and "Golden Years" aches, and pains. Ha! Ha! There is no way I can use snow shoes, or cross country ski's. And I would have to get more dogs to pull a dog sled. Ha! Ha!
.... So I came up with another idea! I make my own walking trails in the forest with my snowblower!
When I walk the trails I make sure I pick up any branches, or anything that could cause problems with my snowblower. Shear pins in the augers are inexpensive, but can be a pain to replace.
Then when it snows I am ready to take my snowblower for a walk. Ha! Ha! Sounds pretty silly, but it works great! And allows Bear, and I to enjoy our walks in the forest all winter long!
..... I apologize for it being difficult to hear me talking over the loud motor. (that might be a good thing. Ha! Ha!) The snow blower is very loud, so the auto voice control in my camera automatically turned the volume sensitivity down. ..... If the noise of this video bothers you, and becomes unbearable, and annoying while you are watching, you might choose to turn your volume down. That's ok. After all some of the best old classic movies were silent. Ha! Ha! ....Then you can sit back, and enjoy watching a silly old guy having some fun doing something unusual, and different in the forest. Ha! Ha!

Hi! Trish and the party cats! ... Thank you for the nice comments, and watching my noisy video! ... Ha! Ha! I didn't think anyone would hear it when I said I was the noisy old thing. Ha! Ha! That Stimpy has good hearing. Ha! Ha! .... Oh! no! I just got hit with all of those snowballs from Stimpy! I should be more careful when I open up his notes! Ha! Ha! After I got done with my trails I snowplowed the driveway, and the trails around the house. I am pretty worn out now. I was just laying with my heating pad on my back watching tv. When I went to get up I was as stiff as a frozen Gumby guy. Ha! Ha! If my aches an pains don't tell my age, I suppose it shows my age when I know what a rubber Gumby guy toy is. Ha! Ha! If I remember right they were green. Ha! Ha! I hope Nacho the dog's surgery goes good, and Nacho is ok. Speaking of furry friends. Bear is going to be 8 years old in a few weeks on March 16. Time sure has flown by. I might make him a birthday cake again. He don't usually eat all of his cake then I have to force myself to eat it. Ha! Ha! But he loves his home maid Bear treats I make for him. Thank's for the nice comments on my Instagram pictures. That worked to take pictures with the phone after I gave Instagram permission to access my pictures an camera. So I took those snow pictures today with the phone. ....When I was trying to figure the sending pictures out, I wonder who all got surprise pictures? A picture even sent to my brother. Ha! Ha! It's good my pictures are all family friendly. Ha! Ha! On this video you couldn't tell, but Springs flow into the swamps, and those parts don't freeze. Spring swamp water makes great Catnip Whiskey for the party cats! and it is a great water supply for "Rat Showers" too! Ha! Ha! I never saw a rat take a shower before. That was pretty cool. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! I am reading this note. As my old High School English teacher would say "my subject matter" is all over the place! Ha! Ha! Told you I am tired. Ha! It is pretty old, and don't have modern safety controls. The new snowblowers won't keep going when you let the controls go. .... It was funny once. I was snow blowing one of the trails, and the snow covered pine trees were blocking the trail. So I got the idea to go through the trail anyhow. Well a long story short. I got stuck in the pine trees, and by the time I got out of the snowy trees my snowblower had taken off, and I was looking for it in the bushes. Ha! Ha! I hope you are having a good week. Hi! Carol! Thank you for watching my video, and also thank you for your nice comment! .. The creek don't usually freeze over because there are Springs feeding it, and the water is always moving fast. It will freeze over when the temperature stays below 0 degrees F for a while. Then the ice layer melts quickly when it warms some. A lot of water flows through this creek because there are Dams, and lakes up stream that flow into it. Then the water ends up in the Castle Rock lake on the Wisconsin River. In Spring time when the snow melts and the rain starts it will overflow into the swamps. It's real pretty, but it can breed lots of bugs. That is a good thing about snow. Hi! Bob and family! .. Thank's for your nice comment, and thank's for watching noisy video. Ha! Ha! .. Burr! It sure is a winter wonderland here. I think what winter wonderland really means is, winter makes me wonder why I live here. Ha! Ha! It is nice, and sunny this morning. But it was only +5 degrees F. when I got up this morning. Now at 9 am it has warmed up to +19 degrees F. When it is cold like this the wind can take the life heat out of a person. The weather guy on tv keeps saying it is going to warm up with the sun being higher in the sky, and the days getting longer. But I think he has been just making that up to make everyone feel better. Ha! Ha! Don't worry about it Bob. I know what you mean about the notified bell thing. It seems to be hit an miss sometimes. Kind of the way I run some days. Especially before my coffee kicks in. Ha! Ha! The snow has been very slowly melting. That is why I make the trails so Bear an I can take our walks. Otherwise winter gets to long when I am trapped right by the house. I can't walk in the deep snow because my ankles, and legs don't like doing that. Then I could fall down, and roll to the bottom of the hill like a big snowball. Ha! Ha! I was afraid the noise of the old snowblower was going to drown out the sound. I was thinking about removing the noisy sound track, and narrating it on the computer with a microphone. But then I probably would take away from the real life excitement of the video. And by the time I did all of that I would probably loose interest in uploading the video. Ha! Ha! I haven't been doing many things like I use to do. Sometimes I feel like a hermit, woodsman living in the woods. Except I know I am not that, because I shave, and shower every day. Ha! Ha! Oh! You know, when it´s cold and snowy I feel much more calm and happy inside than when it´s sunny and warm. I don´t know why, and I know that most people are feeling the opposite. But when I first arrived in the USA and it was snowy and cold and the landscapes were so beautiful and wide and not so many people around, I felt at home the first time in my life. A lot of people enjoy outdoor activities in the snowy weather. It is nice to hear you had a nice visit when you were here. This country has a wide selection of weather, and landscapes. There are a lot of places that are quiet with lower population, like here where I live. The northern areas have changing weather like I have here, as you head south it gets warmer, and then after a thousand miles or more, it's very warm with no winters. There are lot of very nice, and caring people in this country. Sometimes the news makes it look like we are a bunch of loud, mean, bullies. Trying to push each other, and the people of the world around. Loud, and pushy people always seem to get the most media coverage. The snow can start in November, and last until late April, or maybe even May before all of the ice and snow is gone. Some winters have less snow, but are always cold, so the snow we get stays around for a while. Once the snow gets deep in the forest it takes a long time to melt. So when I make trails in winter Bear, and I can enjoy our walks in the forest all year long. ... And the good thing about winter walks, is I don't have to swat mosquitoes. Ha! Ha! That's quite a cool snow blower you got there Mike, not that it would be of any use in the Philippines lol, but in some parts of the UK it would come in handy.. But you could take it apart, and build a nice Go Cart for your daughter. zoom! Ha! Ha! I agree, I like living in this area. I have lived in the cities, but I prefer living here. When I was young, and working I had close friends in town. Around here it is harder to make close friends. There are too many old people like me here. Like me, they aren't to much fun to party with! Ha! Ha! LOL! ... The virus is still spreading pretty fast over here. We have some sick people even here where I live. Hopefully it won't get very bad, because this community don't have a large medical hospital. ... It is almost 60 degrees F. today. So the snow has all melted. The water in the creek is very high now from the melted snow, and rain. This morning Bear an I took a long walk and enjoyed the sunshine. It's 1:00 clock in the afternoon here. Hi! Elden! Thank you for watching my video! and thank you for your nice comment! ... Winters here usually can last about 6 months. Some winters are worse than others. So I spend about half of my life being cold. Ha! Ha! On the bright side there are no wood tic's an mosquitoes during the cold weather. Today it is sunny, but only 13 degrees. You are right. It is best to try and do the snow clean up right away before it can get icy hard. The snow blower is really old. A friend gave it to me before he passed. So I like to keep it running as long as I can. The electric star is nice. Sometimes I have to start it by hand if it stalls for some reason., But it is kind of hard for me to pull the rope. So I always pray that it don't stall in the forest. Ha! Ha! Yesterday I felt like I got run over by a train after cleaning up snow. Ha! Ha! When it gets below 17 degrees, or so I have to be careful. The cold air can make my chest hurt. That usually starts hurting the day after I spend to much time outside in the cold. My circulation isn't the best, so all of my mussels ache just from walking, especially out in the cold. So I try to take it easy with what I do now. I do things in slow motion. Ha! Ha! Then you can get out an about and do more things without slipping all over the place. It has snowed a bunch here over the winter so far. The bad storms have been missing this area so far. Hi! Thank you for your nice comments! ... You are right. That is an oldie snowblower. The company that made the motor is no longer in business. I have done some work on the motor to keep it running. Points, condenser, and carburetor work, minor stuff like that. A friend of mine gave me the snowblower before he passed. So I like to keep it going for his memory. .. I agree I am ready for some nice Spring time weather. Spring is my favorite time of the year as things come back to life. Except for the biting bugs. Ha! Ha! I hope you have a great week. Hi1 Angeline! .. Thank you for watching my "noisy" video ( Ha! Ha!) , and thank you for your nice comments! .. I agree, the snow is pretty in the trees. It seems peaceful. Until the wind blows, and the snow falls out of the trees, and goes down my back! burr! Ha! Ha! ... I think this was the third, or forth time I used the snow blower on my trails so far this winter. I don't do it every time it snows. I do it when it starts to get deep enough to make it difficult for me to walk. We have been lucky here where I live not to have gotten any bad ice storms so far this winter. Then I have to wear slip on metal cleats on my shoes so as not to slip and fall. Even if I wouldn't do the trails any more this winter, and it would snow more, the snow won't get as deep in the trail, and the snow that falls in the trail melts faster than the deeper snow in the forest. The snow in the forest tends to take longer to melt because it is more shaded from the sun. Today it is sunny, but only 13 degrees F. burrr! The days are getting longer now, about 3 minutes longer each day, and the sun is feeling warmer too. ... I really ached yesterday after doing the snow clean up the day before. My circulation isn't the best, so when I walk, or do work things outside, especially when it is real cold, my heart doesn't seem to keep up with my body's heat loss, and mussels requiring more energy. So I can get tired easily. The next day body mussels seem to tighten up, and really hurt. ...but... That could be because I am old an out of shape. Ha! Ha! I am careful with my back too. So I try not to over do it. I don't shovel snow, and I let the snowblower do the work. These "Golden Years" aren't so golden, they are more of a brown color. Ha! Ha! But I can't complain, I am upright, and still doing things, so I am doing ok. ... I also was happy to see Bob make more songs for us to enjoy! Cool! Bob is always friendly, and nice to chat with. I enjoy hearing how his family is doing. The kids sure keep Bob busy doing all kinds of things. I don't think I have enough energy left in me to keep up with the young ones anymore. @@ilikoldies Hi Mike, it was very interesting watching you use the snowblower which would definitely make so much easier for you and Bear to have your walks in the forest!! The snow does look really pretty on the trees with the sun glistening through. You should have a nice warm bath with some magnesium bath salts after doing work in the yard, would help with your muscle tightness and spasms. You should eat a banana each day as this helps keep your heart and muscles healthy too. 😉 It was such a lovely surprise to hear from Bob again and so special listening to his two new beautiful Neil Diamond songs and covers, he has an amazing voice sounding so much like Neil Diamond!! Having special friends like you and Bob on KZbin make it a wonderful place to be!! Sure hoping his shoulder and arm are much better for him now!! @@RememberingElvisPresley Hi! Angeline! Thank you for your comments, and nice caring thoughts. Hug. I do eat a banana a day with my oatmeal, and of course my coffee, for breakfast. I call it my monkey food. Ha! Ha! I guess the banana, and oatmeal are good for my heart, but not so sure about my chocolate flavored coffee an creamer. Ha! Ha! I did buy some magnesium vitamin pills, and some "Theraworks" . It has magnesium in it. I don't drink that. LOL! I rub that stuff on my legs to help with the cramps. I have tried the bath salts, that helps some. It I hurt bad I take some CBD oil at night. That helps some with pain, and helps me relax, so I can sleep better. I have degenerative arthritis in my body. So I sometimes pop, and crack like popcorn when I do things. Ha! Ha! .. The arthritis is bad in my spine, so that causes pain where it causes rubbing on disk's or nerves. The bad disk's are still giving me problems, but they have calmed down a lot. I lay on my back on a heating pad for a few hours a day in the evening, and watch TV.. That seems to help the most. I have to be careful how I twist, and what I lift. When I was to the doctor last time, I ask her if the Lime stuff could be causing some of my mussel aches. At that time she was concerned that we take care of my back, and heart. When it comes to any operations, or strong medications, with me having such a weak heart, they have to treat me like a big china doll. Ha! Ha! I have been living with pain for a long time. When I was a young man I did a lot of hard work. I usually try not to complain or wine about how I hurt. Unless it is something real bad. Like a heart attack. Ha! Ha! ... Because I figure there isn't to much I can do about it. Some days it is hard not to get feeling down when I can no longer do things. So I just try to do things I can, and try to act happy. {:

@@ilikoldies Hi Mike, yes the oatmeal and banana are very good for our health, my Mum's Dad would eat oatmeal all year round not just in winter months knowing how good it was and the bananas ... we know how healthy the monkeys are and how the bananas keep them fit and able to swing from tree to tree!! 😄 Sorry you have degenerative arthritis Mike, my precious Mum had the very debilitating rheumatoid arthritis, I never dreamt would see her suffer from this as she was always a very healthy woman loved walking and had good and healthy diet. Particularly as Mum got older she knew she had an acid system and know this can cause problems. She didn't eat too much meat as this is very acidic. Eating plenty of fish and Salmon is good for us. Many people drink small amount of carb soda with water as this neutralizes the acid in our body which causes a lot of health problems and good friends of our family included large amount of gelatin in their diet as this is supposed to ward off arthritis. So far I don't have arthritis and try to eat well and exercise well to help prevent this but unfortunately we can't always change what is in our genes but can do lots to help preventing getting different health problems so bad and at early ages. My brother in law uses tiger balm rub to help with arthritis he gets in shoulder and knees and seems to help reduce pain and inflammation ... must be the go get it tiger that helps!! 😉 Have heard that gluten free diets can help with many health problems also, many believe wheat is bad for us, but we are all so different and what might be good for one might not be good for us all. And with your special coffee am sure small amounts is okay, have heard coffee can be good in our diets helping prevent dementia, too much of anything is bad for us so if we follow good healthy diet everything in moderation we can't go wrong. Too much sugar, salt and fats are not good but we all need small amounts of these to keep our motors running healthy and feeling happy. 🤗 Great Bear gets you out for walks each day he knows what is good and healthy for you both and getting at least 10-20 minutes out in the sunshine each day keeps your healthy levels of vitamin D up!! 😎 Hoping you can manage your arthritis well Mike with good diet, exercise and meds and rubs that help for sure. Hi Mike, you don't see many Italians suffering with arthritis and maybe is because of the olive oil they have in their diets also many Islanders who eat lots of coconuts, coconut oil and milk is good for us also. 😊 Keep healthy and happy my dear friend and look forward to your next video. 😃 Hugs Angeline
