Yeah I think that’s a completely fair comment! It seemed pretty decent to me and I’ve got all the toys I want now, and yeah it’s outclassed by them but I can easily see it being a solid early game truck! It kept nicer pace than some and did well in auto through mud and all sorts! Overall a decent little beast 👍🏻! I’m sure even now it would finish all but the heaviest toughest missions I’ve got left without too much trouble, but again I just have better options now that don’t tip etc! I used this early game. It did everything pretty well for a mid-size truck. Very capable until you can get something full sized.

Yeah I think that’s a fair comment dude 👍🏻 it is pretty good and won’t let you down a lot, especially early game, but yeah eventually it’s outclassed by comparison but so are a lot of things, but lack of engine upgrades in particular is what keeps it an early to mid game truck, and doesn’t allow you to follow it up to end game with bigger engines etc 👍🏻

I recently took the paystar and finished all my Michigan and Alaska missions and found the first set of offroad tires, which are dual tires, are as good as the mud tires in mud and better everywhere else but more importantly, the dual tires significantly reduced tipping. It flipped more with either suspension and single tires than with any set of dual tires.

Yeah a few people have said the same dude and I tried the duals before this video and the wider tracked stuff and it did help for sure 👍🏻! If I was going to do missions in my own time then I’d do the same! I kept the chained on as I didn’t want to try and hide it’s flaws and it kept it relative to others with them on, I find with dual rears that they don’t sit as well in the natural grooves of the road in the game so sometimes you can end up with little to no grip as they bridge the groove and you just get each edge of the outside touching the ground! The P16 suffered with that loads as it’s so massive! So generally I’d rather singles but this is definitely one that it may be worth it 👍🏻! I have to say though I don’t think it was terrible for rolling, just not great, it didn’t want to roll, but it didn’t want to stay on its wheels! As long as your mission route didn’t have some leaning parts then I reckon it’s not bad! The ank loves to roll too and that royal has top weight and no chassis weight so it practically wants to flop it’s massive head over the first chance it gets lol!

The Mud tyres, the ones you are using with chains on, are a trap. They look cool, but the don't have much more traction than the Offroad tyres with doubles at the back. You can get those with chains as well. As far as I know the Paystar's Offroad tyres are unique amongst the American trucks. They are wider than the highway and all terrain tyres, they even stick out beyond the guards at the back and they really help with stability. All the tyre sets with singles at the back make the Paystar's wheelbase to narrow and it falls over all the time with them on.

Yeah I checked out all the duals and wider tyres before I made this video! More tyre width definitely helps this truck, and I wanted to stick to the chained for grip etc but so it’s the same as other trucks to keep that variable the same! But if I was going to use this for missions then yeah I’d make sure I’ve got a decent route and I’d either put dual rears on or the wider ones you mentioned, I’d possibly even lower the suspension as there’s no bigger tyres to be lost, and it sits quite tall as it is! But I basically didn’t want to try and hide it’s flaws, either way it definitely rolls easier than the Tayga and so on, but it’s not as bad as the royal I don’t think! I think it’s not too bad, I wouldn’t want to take it on too many bumpy awkward roads but it’s not like it wants to tip, it just has no weight to stop it either 👍🏻

Actually took a nostalgia trip last month and replayed both SR2 and SR3! They definitely distinguish themselves as a different genre to the likes of GTA. Some people want realism and some want fun, devs have the tough job of balancing those features for the best experience. Allowing the modding community to take things to various extremes afterwards fills those niches and extends the lifespan of the game. Excited for Phase 1 content and map development!

Ahhh nice man how did they hold up lol? Sr2 was a brilliant game too no doubt, kind of like mudrunner as in it was great, but then snow runner and sr3 just took it to the next level! Sr3 is one of the most fun well made enjoyable games of the last 20 years I’d say! It’s underrated because of stuff like gta which yeah was clearly more polished and the driving in sr wasn’t as clean as gta! But they understood fun and silliness, having the zombie island to mess around on and that flying dickhead in his daudalus thing or whatever it’s called! The i need a hero ending to save Shaundy, brilliant game! Yeah it is a tough one to balance, and credit to snowrunner for adding mods officially! Not many do and the likes of EA and so on, would never add official mods because it undercuts their own ability to add something and then sell it to you for more! Really adding official mods just shot them in the foot but in a good way for us! Games should have official mods because as you say it extends the life and keeps it fun and interesting! I got bored of mudrunner after completing everything and had nothing left, meanwhile pc users had thousands of mods! Hopefully they’re not too far away for console but I’m still enjoying and testing the base game stuff so I’m good waiting a little bit longer 👍🏻

Yeah it’s not a bad little work horse to get you bringing some money in and it doesn’t devour 50k in upgrades! I’m looking forward to that too, I’m interested to see how it handles as I’ve had a go in it a few times but never really pushed it to see what it can do! I might do that in the next day or so 👍🏻!

I used this truck so much because of how good it was that I just hate it now. I remember staying up the whole night just using this truck and got sick of it and moved on. To me it’s like an ex you irrationally hate lol. Might go drive it for some nostalgia though! great vid 👍🏻

Haha I get what you mean dude! I love the Navistar and I’m not sick of it, but at the same time I practically never use it because I’ve got so many other trucks to play around with and try out! You can definitely over do it in some trucks and they can get boring! Well except the loaf of course haha! Yeah do it dude it’s pretty respectable for an early game truck! Climbed mountains etc just fine! You could try some wider tyre sets to help the rolling too 👍🏻

If I could take them back and cash them in quick enough I would but I just don’t have time between doing all this, if I need quick cash I do the container contest in drowned lands which I can make more, faster than I can take these back, one day though I’ll have a nice million or so in spare trailers lol! Ahh nice man, haha you can’t go wrong with a loaf lol 👍🏻! It’s not your classic scout though, it’ll do fine doing all the usual scout stuff but it doesn’t shine as a plain scout over others really, although it rolls a lot less etc and is better than a lot of them on some surfaces! But It’s how it gets everywhere and can find spots to rescue that it shines like no other! And it has broken levels of winch strength lol! But either way you need a loaf in your life so it’s a good plan lol 👍🏻! Alaska is fun but there’s not really any scouts that like snow, they’ll tolerate it lol, but taller trucks with bigger wheels help a lot on snow 👍🏻! Either way enjoy dude!

Yeah I went and checked all the dual rears out before I started this video, but personally I prefer the singles, they sit in roads that have kind of grooves where trucks pass over time, whereas the duals have a tendency to sit either side and you have got most of the wheels not touching the floor! But yeah for tipping wise, I have no doubt they’d help 👍🏻! It wouldn’t be too bad to just remove the suspension too as it sits very high to begin with and it won’t cost you bigger tyres! But lip clearance will be an issue as those mud guards will sit even slower!

Also a tip is if you throw a truck into low and then knocking it back to auto in mud gives it a slight boost

Yeah thanks dude I’ve noticed that too 👍🏻! Plus even when you’re in high (works sometimes in all gears) just tap L1 and it’s like it quickly drops the clutch and you get a little boost! Doesn’t work all the time, it’s like it’s capped to 1 per minute or something so you can’t just tap it 4 times a second and boost your way up anything but I’ve definitely noticed it! I’ll have to find a good example on my recordings and put it in a video 👍🏻

@@itsmrlonewolf try auto, switch to high, and then back to auto. On an 8 speed It will basically go 1st, 5th, 6th-7th -8th....... essentially skipping 2nd,3rd,4th getting you to top speed quicker

with.joe.90 if you keep tapping L1 when you set off, it’ll jump through the gears even quicker dude, it’s not to the point you can make it go up all the gears in an instant, but it’ll jump from say 1st to 3rd to 5th or 6th like a second or 2 after you’ve set off if it’s a quick truck 👍🏻

The fender flares were a popular add-on from what I could tell during the period. Adds significant MPG on highway They were an option all the way till they stopped making the trucks.

It’s Mr Lone Wolf I’m watching someone on twitch drive around it and it looks epic! To start the map is a Smithville Dam sized map I think and is cut in half by a massive valley that’s covered in ice which when you drive through on some parts, actually breaks and slows you down like you see in the trailers! There’s also lots of military buildings around the map with a bunker to the east side which is next to a lake with the bomber in. It looks really exciting so far and I can’t wait to try it.

The idea/benifit of offroad gearbox low - low and low+ with difflock is basicly to be able to slow the tires (crawl) enough to avoid wheel spin as long as your tires are moving and your not spinning in place then in therory you cant get stuck diff just locks the wheels to spin at the same time

Yeah there’s ways they could still keep this truck how it is for early to mid game! But if it unlocked a load of things at level 25 or something, like bigger tyres, bigger engine and so on, it would still be fun and fully useful in the later game, but without helping too much early game before anyone is level 25! It’s a decent truck, but it gets outclassed by better stuff eventually! Not bad for what it is though! Bigger tyres would be really nice 👍🏻

Exactly. Its not bad, I just went with the azov because it seemed to be able to pull heavier loads better. Then again lack of off road tires kinda killed me early game. Now, a fun truck would be a unimog or a land rover forward control. Maybe not as big as the azovs in length but tall, wide tires and can haul containers on their backs. Swear if I had a good pc id love to get into the modding bits. Finally see all the differences of the tires too.

Very good first buy truck, helped me in Michigan very much. In the other maps I used other better trucks, but I still use it for som things. It has a very good feauture, it can have a flatbed, a crane and still attach to a trailer. So I keep it in my garage and use it sometimes. For example, I took it to the new Rift map, but in the end I went and got my Tayga instead.

Haha that’s usually the thing with the Tayga, once you find it, there’s not too much point in using other stuff beyond for the sakes and fun and challenge of it lol 👍🏻! Yeah I will get around to them dude, it won’t be in the next couple of days or so as there’s more important useful stuff to review, I’ve tried them too haha, not too keen lol! I really didn’t like the steering on the 42-20, it felt like a cat 745c but worse to me lol but I’ll still review it and give it a proper chance! As for that 73210 lol god damn that’s got some chin on it haha! If it was a truck racing game, it might be fine, but for off roading, that’s about the worst choice of chins you could have! I tried it and it caught everything lol! But again I will review it soon and see how it does, you never know, I thought the kolob long nose thing would do my head in and yet I’ve kept it I liked it so much! But yeah, some option to remove at least some of it’s chin bumper would be nice! I still and will always love this truck. Its very well rounded and versatile. I always use the dual rear wheels to add track width. I cant wait till you get mods, and hope that you'll be able to give my edits a go. I won't call them mods, because they're not!

Yeah it honestly grew on me throughout the night! I can absolutely see the appeal of it, especially early game! I had the Navistar and I reckon this would be better quicker than the navi, once you get the upgrades for the navi it’s a clear winner but this thing is a decent little beast! I’d actually like to keep it if I can afford to do so lol! But loaf addiction isn’t cheap lol so we’ll see! I like cruising and going slow since the game, I feel, is more geared (see what I did there?) Towards taking a lot of time. The slowest game you can't stop playing hahahahaha. Captain ___America lol the Navistar is pretty good! But it was also £141k in cash at the start so I can see the appeal lol! It’s worth a try if you’ve got the money spare! Haha yeah considering I love racing games too, this is definitely slow and yet I can’t stop playing lol! Haha I like it 👍🏻, I did most of my playthrough with the off road boxes, I think part of why I love highrange apart from the speed gains is if I need to get to somewhere to make some footage, I’m not looking for the full snowrunner experience lol I just want to fly there to get started! Yeah I get what you’re saying dude, in my own personal use time I’d set it up a bit differently, but for the sakes of these tests I like to keep the tyres all even and it shows how much it rolls compared to others, but yeah there’s ways to reduce it with wider tracked tyres or dual rears, or yeah lowering it which isn’t so bad on this as there’s no larger tyres to lose by lowering it! It’s just those rear mud guards, they’ll be even lower when it’s lowered! I wish they were removable 👍🏻

High gear for the offroad gearbox is pointless on my trucks I assume it is supposed to be a kind of "5th" gear overdrive, where once you are up to a decent speed you shift into H and save gas. When I shift into H it just slows my truck down. OK, I save gas per minute, but it takes more minutes to get there, so what's the point? I use the offroad mostly so that trucks without permanent diff lock can engage Low+ and retain diff lock at a reasonable wheel speed. Is High gear broken, or is that not what it's for?

Yeah I agree dude that’s my biggest gripe with the off road box, and why I just don’t see the advantage, high range in high saves so much time flying along, and the 3 low options I don’t ever find I NEED, like basic low will do the job, I’m not arsed about squeezing an extra mph in thick mud when I’m only going about 4mph to begin with, I’d rather go 90 instead of 50 if that in the fast bits though lol 👍🏻! H is just pointless in off road! You may as well use the high low as it’s the same basically but doesn’t stall! I’m guessing it’s a game balancing thing though, if H in off road was too quick then it would render the actual high range box kinda useless, that said it’s too much the other way, it needs to be a bit faster! Same with the scout gearboxes, they need some little tweaks too

Sam Diefenbach yeah I really liked the long nose kolob a lot! I even kept it after the review! The ank is an old favourite of mine but god damn does it like to roll lol! I wouldn’t take it on the missions where I’d like to make it first time with no rescues or taking my time too much lol!

Fire Slash FTW yeah the Tayga is just a beast! Something had to be lol! I love the tatarin 420 but it’s just so slow I hardly ever drive it because i get bored waiting for it to get somewhere! As for the AE, it’s a brilliant truck no doubt, but the steering is just too slow for me and I was hitting all sorts and far too many reversing 3 point turns! But again apart from that it’s up there with the Tayga in terms of how capable it is 👍🏻

It’s Mr Lone Wolf I’ve been using the kolob for most of my hard missions so far as well as the heavy trailers. The most the ank has rolled for me is when I was trying to get to the Drummond island tunnel up the winding road and I got so annoyed that it kept rolling so I switched to Russia, bought the kolob and went and found the p16 also I wouldn’t have found the p16 if it weren’t for your video for it so thanks.

I used it once but doesn't convince me,this truck is all about brutal engine,brutal consumption and very poor stability. From all the trucks i rescued Tayga is the best followed by BM17 and White Western Star and the only truck worth to buy is Azov 64131 and this truck helped me a lot,i can't say it's unstoppable because there is no such thing but goes slow and nice,has a lot of addons,big fuel tank and fair consumption.

Hmmm good question! Well I guess assuming you’ll be filling the bed with cargo and towing some kind of weighted trailer, I think it might be the Paystar you know! That got up the quarry hills no problem with a semi trailer and heavy concrete slabs! The freightliner struggled more but made it kind of 3 quarters! I’ve not done the fleetstar but I remember from the white western star rescue, it didn’t do amazing there so I’m guessing it could struggle with the quarry test! I’d say the paystar if you have the spare money, and maybe the fleetstar will surprise me a bit lol but as I’ve not reviewed it I can’t say 100%! But I can say 100% that the paystar is decent for what it’s meant to be 👍🏻! Freightliner is nice but too pricey really for what you get back! However on hilly maps that will have you leaning, I think the paystar will roll, put wider tracked tyres on that will help! It’s a hard one to nail down lol it’s kinda situational but overall I’m saying paystar for money value etc that will do most of the things you throw at it, just don’t take the piss lol 👍🏻

@@itsmrlonewolf Mostly for cargo recovery tasks where theres more than 2. I like leaving the trailer behing a bit so i only go with the truck. For pure transport, i use the offroad dolphin or the tayga with a low saddle

I love this truck, but yeah the engine and top heaviness limit it. Don't ever raise the suspension. It never needs that. It can get anywhere in the game, although some places will require some winching.

Good question dude! I’m going to assume it would make it even more tippy, as it does with the Navistar and I wouldn’t say that’s bad for tipping anyway! However yeah there’s a chance it could make that difference on that particular hill and set up, it could be just enough weight to push it down enough to grip! You could even try and extend the crane over the front of the truck to try and keep the nose down! I’ll have to have a test around when I get some spare time and who knows if I get any results I may just slip it into a future video lol 👍🏻! Thanks man, good question!

WTF??? physics man the physics in this game get me all the time, you know what i think it is that we roll our trucks so often? ive noticed sometimes when im just going along nicely there will be sometimes like gravity acting the opposite way, i think it also has to do with what you explained and how the loaf just started to move pretty slowly at 39:29 while as in real life at that speed the loaf would have just carried its way down the hill. I dont think gravity is acting the way it would normally, usually when im about to flip a truck over pretty slowly i often find myself not even at an incline to be honest, like youre just driving along just fine, and then all of the sudden your back wheels dig into the mud so much so that the truck has no other choice but to tip over, then theres the troll that added a dip in the road so big your truck goes into the dip it hits for like 3 engine damage your truck bounces out of the dip but it always bounces off to 1 side, also notice how the dirt roads are SLANTED and then on either side of the slanted edge is like that magical mud that just digs in so deep theres one of those in island lake near bob hunters bridge (2 bridges) near the sawmill and the trailer store and then theres like a bunch in alaska pedro bay with ice patches on the road to make you fall into the ditch, the game is loaded with so many troll spots is not even funny breaking my controller would be an understatement. You know the people that tought it would be a good idea to invent the paved road with an ADVERSE CAMBER? yeah fuc em cuz now they got adverse camber in dirt roads too It still gets me everytime man, i crie evirtim '';,,;''

My save got corrupted when they patched the game. Second time through the game I didn't bother with the Paystar, sold all the early trucks. Went to Russia to get the Dan. Earnt enough money for an Offroad Dolphin and got the Tayga. Did the whole game with those. Oh and bought a Clydesdale.

Have you lol? I genuinely have no idea dude I didn’t even know there was one? Was it a big one or one of those stealth background ones? If it’s a background one then chances are it’s just tiny tweaks to fix a few things they broke with the last major update! Maybe just stuff like the steering doesn’t work when you roll over, hopefully that’s fixed, and just little things like that I assume 👍🏻
