QAnon is basically a modernised version of Satanic Panic.

✨ So, I can confirm as a child of the '80s the "Satanic Panic" was a thing in the states. It was worse depending on where you lived I suppose you could say, but it was something you would see on the news or in magazines (like Eddie was reading from in the first episode). Most kids/teens didn't buy into it; only certain adults did. Let's just say that my first boyfriend looked like Axel Rose from Guns 'n' Roses, and my parents did NOT know he even existed, LOL! Sometimes, that's how it goes. Suffice it to say, I have a spot in my heart for Eddie. He doesn't deserve the crap he gets from Jason and them. 🦇 BTW, sorry about the "mutant birds." 💖

What a I never understood was why Jason wasn’t the main suspect. Like the boyfriend is always the first suspect, especially when they had reason to believe she was cheating on him (she was at Eddie’s house). Then he ADMITS to hunting down Eddie AND being at the scene where his friend died. He admits that Eddie didn’t touch his friend and then saying a bunch of nonsense about the way his friend died. He’s speaking frantically, calling for violence, and making no sense. All while admitting that Eddie did NOT go near his friend when he died.

That would be an interesting way to reframe the situation if the government swoops in to clean up the mess in Hawkins but I think the satanic panic is just too strong in a smaller community like Hawkins and statistics on domestic violence and how often women are unalived by their partners are less widely know in the populace of an 80s small town that I think even crazy satan magic would seem more plausible to these people than the perfect jock boyfriend hiding some extremely violent tendencies because you know... it’s easier to be scared of things that you don’t understand than to take the time to learn.

Jason was the first suspect for Chrissy, but he had an alibi from his basketball friends. why he wasn't a suspect after Vecna killed Patrick, i don't know. seems like all of those boys would have spent the next 24 hours in questioning after that kill.

@@justinroberti Probably because the other guy with the hat was also a witness and saw the same thing. Eddie meanwhile was at the same location as two of the three victims. Jason sounds crazy but they have the other guy who could also testify so it does make sense for them to see Eddie as the more likely suspect, especially with the satanic panic going on. Eddie was the perfect suspect since the cops would've wanted to close it quickly and Jason was far more 'respectable' from a societal sense, so they would definitely push all guilt onto Eddie, an outcast and 'freak'.

So we now know from El's memories that she was relentlessly bullied by 002 & his gang and THEN they cornered her and gave her a telekinetic beat down...when she was still a tiny little girl! The writers are showing a correlation from that childhood trauma to what she had to deal with at school with Angela. No wonder she was so upset & finally snapped at Angela at the roller rink. Angela was just as horrible to El as 002 was.

El didn't react to Angela because she had been bullied before. Eleven couldn't remember anything before her experience at Hawkins Lab alone. Like Dr.Brenner mentioned, Eleven's brain was protecting her. The human brain is weird. If we encounter trauma, depending on one's physiology (of the brain), it can be suppressed. This is why we never had more context on El's situation before this season. Secondly, think of her experience in the Nina Project as someone playing a VR game! She's re-experiencing everything, training her mind again. This is why the project is working. I believe that if El's memory resurfaced earlier this might not have worked. Mutant Birds btw.

I'm exactly the same, as I got bullied literally all through school, then went into work as an adult and got bullied in various workplaces (and the church!) too. something to think about is that yeah #2 and his gang are awful, but they’re all still just kids that have been raised by BRENNER. they’ve all been experimented on and degraded and abused by the same dude. Brenner literally in this episode made them compete against each other for his approval. so yeah it makes sense to me that the older ones have gotten more awful as they have more experience and control over their powers (and more time being used by brenner)

The Satanic Panic. It was bonkers. There was a very famous case involving a group of teens that were nicknames the West Memphis Three. There have been a few documentaries made about them. They were convicted of the murder of three little boys with no evidence and given life sentences, except for one who was put on death row. They eventually got out by taking an Alford plea, but the whole situation was beyond fucked up.
