Hey Paul, what did your 1080ti hit the power limit at stock setting? And did you ever try an sli oc? Have a strange issue with the 1080ti in sli. At the desktop with precision x opened, I noticed in sli the second gpu (red) hit the power limit multiple times in the graph. No benchmark was running. I quickly disabled sli and restarted precision x. With the single 1080ti now running, i still saw the power limit go up and down on the 2nd gpu, but its disabled in nvidias control panel. Can you help? Im freaking out here! (Edit). Sorry, this is all at default settings. Nothing was applied yet.

Very nice video! If anyone plans on water cooling the 1080 ti use a Titan X pascal waterblock.. It will work with this card and solve the temperature issues.

Paul, I just installed a fx-8350 and 1080ti founders into my computer and now my computer is slow and when the screen turns off it won't turn back on. Why does that happen? It wasn't like that when I had my fx-6300 and 960ssc. Also I have a 600m power supply in my build.

i must be lucky then as my 1080 ti FE is at 2050 on core and 5850 on the mem, temps never ever get over 78 degrees at all. What temps does it throttle down? 83 ish?

probably likely reaching CPU bottleneck. Less frames = more time for CPU to do its tasks. It's one thing to run minecraft at 500fps, it's another thing to run a demanding game at 100+ fps.

It all depends on what resolution you wanna play at. But I suggest you to wait for new line up from AMD graphics cards Vega and then decide. Even then, if it doesn't fulfill your expectations, there might be price drop for nvidia, when it gets released.

This is awesome, finally a consumer grade, 4k single gpu setup! You could argue 1080 is, but that thing dips into the 40s. I'm talking max settings, 60+ fps.. That means next generation it'll probably be time to give budget gpus strong 1440p potential :o

Just a recommendation when showing the FPS Charts; keep the color of the bar for a particular resolution the same across all the charts. For some reason 2560x1440 is yellow for Rise of the Tomb Raider and immediately afterward 3840x2160 is yellow for GTA V. It makes it a bit more difficult to follow the resolution you're interested in across all games tested if you have to try and find your resolution on the legend and then view the numbers without pausing before the next chart comes onscreen.

Paul, great review. One thing, though. I'd still include the 9** family, specifically 970, 980, and 980TI for people like me who have more than likely waited for 1080TI release to consider a possible upgrade. I feel like 1080 v 1080TI comparison is great, but it doesn't really target a demographic who might be considering dropping 600-700 bucks a few months after having dropped $600 already. Thanks!

I'm so damn sad about this release. As soon as they announced the ti and the release date I sold my rig and ordered all new parts for a new build. All my parts are showing up now, I have money for this card, but because I live in Canada we apparently don't get them up here for another couple weeks :(
