I think this is the best Sonic game I've ever played (Sonic Frontiers are one of the three Sonic games I have).

Excellent review! Sonic Team really put in their effort on this with the story and gameplay, especially the music! There are some misses that you mentioned, but Frontiers definitely feels it could lead to more Sonic in the future!

This was certainly interesting. I got this game on PS4 and have the Pro model, so the things I have to say about it are most likely different from yours... Pros: - Better controls than Forces - Locked 30 FPS frame rate (I thought the low frame rate would be a problem for 8th Gen players, but it isn't for the consoles except the Switch, yet PS5 and Series X players get the best visuals and frame rate of 60 FPS) - While short on story, there is plenty of interesting directions the characters go in - Open world is intriguing and there's plenty of things to do - Sonic has a great moveset - Fishing with Big doesn't suck, especially as much as it did in SA1 - That Sonic Movie 1 reference when Sonic maxes his Ring count for max speed - Glad to see the Chaos Emeralds and Super Sonic returning as part of the plot - Great soundtrack (as nearly-usual; Vandalize and Undefeatable are my favorite songs) - Epic boss fights (though the final boss and true final boss are a bit of a letdown) Cons: - The Cyber Space levels are a bit of a mixed bag in terms of variety and how long they take to clear (S-ranking 1-2 is a nightmare) - No way to refight the bosses (yet they gave us an arcade mode for the levels which can already be replayed in the main game) - Could've benefited without so much 2D sections I can't wait for the DLC and the future of Sonic media as 2022 was probably the Blue Blur's best year so far...

Nice video. I personally haven't gotten around to playing Frontiers yet, but I've looked at footage on KZbin and could tell that more effort was put into this game than in Sonic Forces. Still, there's obviously a difference between watching footage of a game / watching someone play and talk about it and actually playing the game for yourself.

You need skills to complete cyber space levels in one go. I ain't got no one shot winner skills unless I did it on accident.

The thing about the reuse of level themes in cyberspace that really bums me out is that it's a downgrade compared to what came before it. In 2D Sonic, a level theme gives you two acts, and then is swapped out for something else. The pacing was great! So seeing each level theme lasting approximately 7.5 cyberspace stages each... A bit of a step back :c I get that there's a story explanation for it, but it reads like they reused the level themes first and then worked backwards to come up with a reason for it after

bro, everyone wanted cyberspace to reuse old levels, and now, they complain about it!
@crimsxndemize41752 жыл бұрын
@@em2008onyt I don't see where anyone said that, people were complaining about reused levels since forces,if anything we want to see levels that haven't been seen in 3D unlike the reused green Hill, chemical plant,and sky sanctuary

It should be very clear that Sonic Team was fighting for additional time for Frontiers, Iizuka basically had to fight the higher ups for the extra year the game got just for polish. So they definitely had to cut corners on what they could improve, and Cyberspace stages took the hit along with other aspects. Sonic Team definitely needs more time.

Don't forget the TRUE final boss! I get that Sonic Team was trying to try something new and outside of usual "Sonic" stuff, but the fight against The End was just a bullet hell level. The thing you have to go through in hacking missions.
@darkhorse744 Жыл бұрын
At least this final Boss didn't introduce a brand new playstyle just for it. Sonic bosses turn into Railshooters far too often.

If I could recommend a mod to you, it would be the Tails Physics Tweaks mod. It includes aspects of momentum in the game such as running faster down hill and keeping your speed when jumping, as well as a lot more control over the drop dash, but doesn't break cyberspace since it's still grounded more the original control layout than Showin's. It's the best feeling imo.

A game made with passion but without the budget. Shadow Generations is showing us what they can do with said budget. Especially since that’s giving us a clue of what kind of production value we’re in for in Frontiers 2.

Gonna strongly disagree on the Red Rings, in Frontiers the Cyberspace stages are all pretty short and are things you can get through pretty quickly. Making Red Rings harder to find would make the playtime for them longer and would be more irritating than anything.
