i didn't know what to do for the visuals of this video since i'm talking about a light novel lol. And i can't exactly post a bunch of images of the actual novel pages. Dazai probably realised he couldn't get the correct point about the Director across to Atsushi, so he passed Atsushi over to someone who could. Somebody who taught Dazai everything he knew. The best and worst scenario. A retched harmony

You probably have found your answer by now but just in case you haven't. The answer to "who the third person is", it was dazai. He says If three or more people know then the universe will be at risk. Three or more, meaning only two people can know at a time. He kills himself to not cause risk to reality and leaves atsushi and akutagawa being the only two people who can know because he's the third and the universe would implode if he was still alive.

Although I only read the manga version that was illustrated by Shiwasu Hoshikawa, I do believe BSD: Beast does show how much Asagiri has grown as a writer. Beast was more engaging and better paced than the main BSD universe. I'm specifically referring to the beginning arc of the manga. I understand that one of reasons for this is because we already know these characters from the main universe and Asagiri has improved overtime. Overall Beast was a great read.

A universe where Dazai never knew Oda? He would probably have killed himself much much earlier. I'm sorry, but the "evil" Dazai that you want to see, doesn't exist.

Ok, fine. So, it's a bit cringe trying to explain this, because, well, if you're well-versed in media literacy you would already know, but Elise in her younger form is basically a carbon copy of young Yosano under Mori's wing. That she looks older now, implies how Mori (in Beast universe specifically) doesn't have a lolita complex anymore. He's arguably a "better person", or is currently trying to be a better *father figure* to Atsushi, since before, he couldn't be to Dazai and, probably, Yosano (there is no official confirmation whether he actually has met Yosano, but, since she's still with the ADA and still has her sadistic tendencies, I'd argue that yes, hhis abuse did, indeed happen)

I'm currently in your number 4 list... But talking about "the book", anime Fitzgerald actually mentioned it in the "three company conflict arc". As he was actually searching for it so he could revive his daughter and prevent his wife from getting crazy... Altho it took me a few days after to realize that there was actually a connection. And thanks for sharing your thoughts. as i sometimes am queasy to the author's choices in the plot but dont seem to know why.. so some of your points got me rethinking as well

i'm aware the book was mentioned in the "three company conflict arc" i just thought from the explanation in the anime and what happens in the manga that if you write in the book 'his daughter is alive,' then she will be alive in their reality. like she didn't die in the first place so she's just written back into existence basically. i didn't know that you could exist within the book in a whole other 'universe' so to speak. i just thought from the anime's explanation that what is written in the book becomes reality i didn't think it implied a whole world could be created within the book. Because the light novel says they're in a world within the book, while the manga frames the book as what you write in the book becomes reality in your current world. I might just be confusing myself here or i'm making this more complicated than it actually is lol.

@@casualfandomview to be more specific the main BSD manga does later explain that the Book doesn't work that easily. Fitzgerald can't simply write "the daughter is alive", everything written in the Book must have a narrative coherence to become real.

Dude, ugh. God. So. Much. To. Explain. Ugh. Sskk have to fight each other to create a singularity. (It's not explained anywhere, but I think it helps sustain this world within the book) That was Dazai's goal from the start. Also. Apparently, only in conflict with one another they can use these powerful emotions (as well as knowledge of each other's fighting skills, since they've fought to the death before) as well as that certain *bond* only created by their rivalry (just like Chuuya and Dazai. Only a diamond can polish another diamond shtick) to achieve absolute victory over the guild, Fyodor, anything that is to come. As for your dislike of how Oda and Dazai's situation ended up... well... It's supposed to be tragic. It's obviously the intent. This Dazai is the only Dazai motivated enough to do something with his life, to orchestrate a whole ass scheme to make sure Oda is alive. If Dazai were to never meet Oda, he would have just continued to try and kill himself until he succeeded. This AU's whole point is that Dazai *knows* about the book, because he created a singularity with his own abilities and read his og!self's memories. This was the premise all along. If that made it "less fun" for you, well... I don't know what to tell you, since this was probably one of the first ideas Asagiri had. This AU would have been pretty much pointless without Dazai's "meta" knowledge, since this universe is literally all HIS DOING. And, yeah, of course you didn't read the Day I Picked Up Dazai. "More fun", huh. I guess we have a completely different definition of fun. Akutagawa being quote unquote "evil", I mean... This AU is literally called BEAST, so... I don't really know what you thought was the main heart of the story besides this, but if this isn't it, I really don't know what to tell you. Fight scenes? Sure. I don't care. The Book. Well, you see, as this is supposed to be the first novel that delves a little deeper into it, I'd say it makes sense, since never before we were given a clear definition of how the Book works.
