So I've Been Playing: METAL GEAR SOLID V THE PHANTOM PAIN [ Review PS4 ]

I feel like I should mention that I cut a great amount of things from the review. ...and even though it's gone now, I still feel the pain... THE PHANTOM PAIN!!! But yeah, some things regarding how going for a stealthy or non-lethal approach could impact your experience in a negative way. Or how not experimenting whatsoever, could make for an incredibly boring play through. I choose to not include these things, mostly because of the video being too long otherwise, but also because I didn’t experience these things at all, and had a great time all the way. So I felt like I needed some more time to think about a few of these things, before I decided to comment on them. Luckily, because I run a gaming channel, I am obligated to make a GOTY 2015 video. So I’ll be sure to bring this shit up when that time rolls around. As it is now though, I’m very happy with how this video turned out. I hope you have as much fun watching it, as I did making it, and a bunch of other corny bollocks like that. Day good!

+Gary Morris Thanks dude! I'd really like to review the Shenmue games quite a lot actually! But currently, I'm not to sure yet as to how I want to actually play and record them (emulation vs buying an actual DC). As for the others: I'll probably get to the Bioshocks at some point, I've been interested in Condemned for quite a while but I'm not sure if my PC can run it and capture at the same time, and I'm not too familiar with The Darkness and/or Fear Effect, though the latter does look like it might be my cup of tea. So yeah, you'll just have to wait and see I guess. I honestly don't really plan my reviews all that much, and I basically just review whatever I felt like playing at the time (as the title may suggest). So I find it a bit hard to make promises as, I myself, don't even know what's next. But Bioshock and Shenmue will definitely happen!

It's funny because glaring problems aside I wasn't sure why V feels so far removed. But you nailed it around 15:15. I miss that OST I'm used to in 1-3.

So I love Metal Gear as a series, I actively forced PerrydactylShow to play the damn games so he could experience the hype that comes along with them. However this instalment if you will, feels more like a follow up to Peace Walker than an actual core-instalment to the franchise. Yes, some answers finally came out that connects nicely into the next story instalment: Metal Gear. Great. I am very glad that ties up why certain events happened in the later games. But I still felt a story or two went unsolved, untouched almost. If anything... Kojima went ahead and provided more damn questions at the end of it all and I clearly am not getting them anytime soon. Unless DLC happens.

+Tentacle Touchy Sadly yeah. A LOT was cut out story wise, and heaving just played through Twin Snakes as well, it is quite jarring to see the difference in cutscene density. That said though, I pretty much expected it to be Peace Walker 2, so it's not like it didn't meet up to my expectations or anything. Also I would LOVE some additional story DLC, and perhaps a new map as well.

Great video! Glad to hear it still feels like a MGS game. A lot of things I'd of seen the game made it seem like it was pretty different from the rest of the series. Definitely will be picking this up soon. We gonna get a full A Capella cover of the crew quarters theme? I sure hope so.

It’s funny to me how closely your opinion lines up with mine almost exactly on everything in all of your videos. Well, except this one that is. The thing that defined Metal Gear to me was the story buffet it always had to offer. I enjoyed every second of the ridiculously long scenes in 4 and of course in all of the preceding titles. Whereas TPP, to me, was like a happy meal, sure there’s a bit of fun to be had with it, but it left me hungry and unsatisfied..

I think to me it was fine, because I wasn't expecting much from it in the first place. Peace Walker had me bored at times and missing the cutscenes, so when V came out I already assumed it to be more like PW then MGS2 or 3. So me enjoying V came more as a surprise then a let down. It is a very flawed and sadly unfinished game though, not denying that haha

ThorHighHeels Indeed, I do know what you mean, Peace Walker is definitely one of if not the weakest in the series. But I guess I was hyped up for a few reasons. For one it was going to be a next gen console Metal Gear opposed to the last couple of games being on psp. Then there was the fact that it was going to be a numbered title so that definitely bumped the hype up for me, where as Peace Walker and Portable Ops were just side games this was going to be a main continuation, so that had my expectations soaring after Guns of the Patriots, which was to me a masterpiece. Still, TPP unquestionably has the best gameplay, it could have easily been the best in the series, if only the game could’ve been finished..

+Cur Newb Yeah I getcha. I mean, the few things I said did legitimately annoy me while playing. But as for some of the greater issues people have had with it, I simply didn't experience any of them and had a pretty great time playing the game all the way.

It really sucked that venom snake barely had any lines in the game (not including cutscenes) SPOILER Yeah yeah I know he isn't really the TRUE Big Boss but I just think that he should at least HAVE some character (besides being the avatar of the player of course) Edit: after playing mgs pw Big Boss doesn't talk much in gameplay too compared to the comic cutscenes
