Adama: "You're right, there is no Earth. It's all a legend." Roslyn: "Then why?" Adama: "Because you said it yourself.. It's not enough to just live. You have to have something to live for. Frankly, a secret like this would be precisely what the senior commanders of the fleet would keep from its civilian “overlords”, providing that the military survived from the Settlement of the Twelve Colonies through the Cylon War. Of course, that would probably mean that not-an-Admiral Adama would also not know the supreme secret, either. Hence, they found the Way To Earth, because even Adama didn’t know that the myth was also true.

I can't even imagine the gamble Adama had to take in that speech. Knowing if anyone knew or found the reality that Earth was only known to the final five and to certain Cylon members. It would have been mass mutiny, civil war among the humans left. But Adama gave them one tiny sliver of the thing that binds us as humanity and gives us the drive no matter the personal cost to succeed. And that is hope ,hope that the human race could make it elsewhere. Hope that the mythical Earth of the 13th tribe did exist. We know it somewhat did. (No spoilers). But the painful decision to lie to the people at least for a while, gave them the drive to survive. Adama was a true hero ,and honestly? This show should be mandatory viewing to ALL military officers to show that despite this being a fantasy, the desire to lead their people to a better tomorrow CAN and MUST be instilled to inspire hope. Because without hope ,without a purpose ,people simply resort to their base instincts and fight and kill to survive. We in the modern time (starting of 2022) should remember the struggles of our ancestors and forebearers. We should remember that they weren't perfect, they had their moments. But in the end, they prevailed and raised the bar for the future just a little bit more. Because of their struggles, we now have a society that does strive for peace, that does try to make it better for our future. And while yes there is still the dark times (pandemic) we still continue. We will survive as long as there are brave men and women who still carry the banner of humanity and think not about what is happening, but what could be. As long as those who still believe in hope, family, peace, and above all, justice and what is right. We will survive as a race. But not as long as this "woke" garbage prevails. It must end , for the good of us all. We do not say "so say we all" as we are not all united. But for those of us who still believe humanity has a chance, we say to ourselves. "So we believe".

I, however, have to disagree, as there are a few characters that could give a speech as good as this: Capt. James T. Kirk; Capt. Jean-Luc Picard; and one Thomas J. Whitmore, the President of the United States during the Independence Day movies. However, that does not change the fact that as a leader, Adm. Adama is very effective at rallying his troops, and at reminding them why they fight -- as any brilliant leader should. Notwithstanding the fact he had to tell a lie to get the job done, this is still a fantastic speech -- one that will go down in television history.

Much as I admire BSG, and this scene, COVID does not relate to BSG, Firefly does. Why? Because it is simple: If China created and released COVID from a biolab, as a bioweapon, then it is equivalent to what the Alliance did on Miranda. And as on Firefly, when the Signal was sent out, we are still not sure what to do about it...but I, for one, echo Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: "I aim to misbehave." Because while unity is all well and good, it is too easily manipulated for malevolent ends -- and unlike being in space, we are not bound to live in a regimented society. Because we are not, it follows that dissent, more often than not, leads to better decisions from leadership, as well as being much better at discovering the truth of the matter. And in the case of a pandemic, _which is not a war,_ truth, backed by science, is more important than anything. Without truth, we lose what makes us unique, and we become that which we have fought to change in the last 250 years: Slaves and prisoners. Only by questioning what ensues around us, do we remain free, and do we maintain our autonomy.

They expanded on the original and did keep the spirit. When the ship battles happened, they were something important to watch. And when Adama broke the prop model ship (found in RL, that was a museum prop-opps). I wish they would of sprinkled the old theme song in more often. The first episode and the last is where I heard it and for closing, "So say we all!"

No sleep, jumping as far as possible every 33 minutes, with jump drives not meant for the workload to escape the Cylons came bearing down on them hellbent on their annihilation would age even the most disciplined person. Baltar explained it best, in his monologue about the toll of humanity's flight from their worlds. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWSokIOrh6x2oMU

This makes every speech ever done by a politician no matter which party or ideology., sound like Amateur hour by comparison. This is how you get people's attention., when they are so tired and afraid they are have literally zoned out

For the longest time I thought "so say we all" was a call back to the original Battlestar Galactica somehow but apparently EJO adlibbed it, which is pretty cool.

I read that Olmos' speech was adlibbed (not scripted). If that's the case it proves that EJO is a talented actor.

I wanted to see more of the priest in this take of BSG. I also want to think they didnt find the real Earth. I hope the next reboot takes it in another direction.

Honestly, what I'm hoping is that the next one has the Galactica and Pegasus, plus a number of other Battlestar's and other ships, hunting down the last Cylon's, who are closer to the version from 1978, before they can find Earth, which everyone believes to be less advanced then the Colonies due to the 12 having more reason to advance quickly due to war or something. Then, I dunno, at the end they find the last Basestar nothing but a shattered hulk staring down the guns of an Earth Battlestar.

I always wondered who told the Twelve Colonies that Earth was the planet the Thirteenth Colony settled?
@Arroway2357 Жыл бұрын
I've wondered the same thing. Did they let the other tribes know before they left? Did they send someone back to the Colonies with the information? Its a Pythian Mystery.
