So Trevor Noah jokes about Australian Aborigines being ugly!?!

This is a video I have wanted to make ever since hearing Trevor Noahs racist, misogynist routine and with the Black Lives Matter movement it is time to ask are some black lives more important than others. He is South African but on US tv discussing and defending black lives, like the good guy???Who is Trevor Noah to say a race of people he knows nothing about are ugly? Who are you as a coloured South African to come to Australia and mock Australian indigenous. For the record, Noah has never apologised for this routine but did go to a museum to learn about the rape and attempted genocide of Aborigines. That he feels sorry about but he has never said sorry to all the little Aborigines girls who just when they are starting to feel proud of who they are, and perhaps pretty, get a foreigner mocking them.

Plenty of mixed and full Aborigines in the video. Some of these girls are so Aboriginal and traditional, brought up in remote communities and English is their first language (ie. Magnolia, Vinka etc) . You just don't know what Aborigines look like- they don't all look like one thing.

About 1/3 of the women in this video are 100% traditional Aborigines, most have two Aboriginal parents but over the years if you are on the cost, chances are an ancestor mixed with another race at some point. Just because one ancestor was raped, or one ancestor married a white, does not mean you have not rights to your heritage. Australia is a huge continent so there is also natural genetic diversity (just like everyone in Europe or Asia does not look the same) and some Aborigines who live in the cities and aren't outside all the time in the sun, are just a little fairer than their cousins on a tropical beach or in the desert, but they may well be 100% Aborigines.

What you are suggesting is like saying Beyonce and Rhianna can't represent 100% black women in Africa, because they have European ancestry in their bloodlines. There are still full/ near full Aboriginal Australians, but the majority of them are in remote locations and don't interact with other Australians or outsiders often. Aboriginal identity in Australia these days is not contingent upon blood quantums, skin color or phenotype. A dark skinned and stereotypical Aboriginal is no more or less Indigenous than a light skinned Aboriginal of mixed race heritage. Some of the white ancestry in the Aboriginal gene pool is there via rather nefarious circumstances. Such as rape and sexual coercion by whites during early settlement years. Currently, Aboriginal Australians have a high interracial marriage rate of about 70%. Obviously, there are a lot more mixed Aboriginals in Australia. You are suggesting that dark skinned Aboriginal were strategically ignored, to prove a point and I disagree.

They laughed so loud I got up and left. When I got home I looked at my mother and sisters the photo of my grandmother on the wall and burst into tears. Actually, I think even the Aborigines themselves know it was ignorance rather than malicious but I wanted to make this video to highlight what people overseas don't get to see. I agree with you. He's quite clever at times but you have to do your research. For me it's not just insulting to Aborigines but to white Australians because he talking to a predominately white audience in this video, and he expected them to laugh and they were shocked. We get images of both the good and bad side of Aborigines, we know they can be beautiful and clever, while in the US you only get images of poor, drunk Aborigines and you don't see the good side. A bit of research would show him there are a lot of successful Aborigines who are role models to black and white. You insult the Aboriginal race, you insult all Austraians!

I know very little about this Trevor Noah and this silly remark works as a rather poor introduction... having said that, speaking plainly, for my European eyes, Australian Aborigines look different and unique, but most striking is when I listen to them speaking and then I feel a great amount of sympathy and affinity with them. I cannot say how it is to live with them, but what they say, although somewhat unexpected, I think I understand and identify with. How they arrived at that isolated place and how they survived and maintained a culture that perhaps did not differ that much from the one we had here long ago, is very interesting. Maybe this is a naive idea, or rude I don't know, but I think our anthropologists should consult those who maintain rock art alive in Australia in order to have a their interpretation on Altamira or Lascaux. What would we learn about ourselves, I wonder? Just a thought...

Well, I made this video for people like you who think Aborigines look one way, to bust that myth. They actually look many ways- lighter, darker, curly hair, straight hair, some are even blonde. Mostly overseas, they show pictures of old Aborigines in the desert or poor Aborigines, I wanted to show young healthy and successful women.
