+1, weirdest civ there is imo. They don't seem to have any strong identity. Also how do you manage late game when you're missing both bracer and blast furnace?

@@epicnab their flexibility is their biggest strength. you can go cav early and midgame cuz you have farimba tech later on, their camels shred enemy cavalry, their light cav is amazing for raiding and trash wars, and their cavalier kicks ass. their swordsman line are legit mini huskarls and do amazing against archers. but if you are fighting infantry, you also have handcannons. they even have bombard cannon and siege onager. It can be confusing if a civ doesnt have an obvious strength but dont let that throw you off.

Mohit Krishnamurthy It’s hard to just spam Cataphracts if you actually wanna play good and improve. Catas are so damn expensive so if your opponent rushes you while you research them you’re fucked.

You can trash spam as Byzantines tho. Or if you're in Arena, go fast imp into arb+siege ram push.

@@edwardblom2661 Yeah looking at how some of the pros play, its probably not a good idea against pro players cause gathering resources is very tough but since me and my friends just started playing the game like 3 weeks ago, we aren't really good at attacking early so we just camp till we hit imperial and then just duke it out in 2v2 scenario lol. Thats kinda why I want hera to make a video on it so that I can play the civ properly

Italian on land maps please. They are usually only shown on water maps and I feel that they could be really strong in post imp with their unique units to counter cav and their unique melee to counter gunpowder and rams.

Hi, Very good videos, thank you. I have a question though. Why don't you reset farms automatically at the mill ? I see all pro players not doing it but you often have idle villagers and it takes you time to do it manually. Is it to save wood ? Or just a habit ? Thanks !!

Vikings might be the best starter Civ if you can win by just power eco spikes into castle --> play defensive --> power spike again with Imperial and then head out (maybe with zerks and arbs). An archer opening into castle age then playing defensive going into Imperial seems like a lot less to focus on while they just focus on getting their boom done with constant archer production and producing counters to incoming attacks as needed. Speaking as a noob maybe this is what I'll do lol.

I've been doing the cicero archers build which is 23 pop feudal and double range as you hit feudal but I feel it's a bit slow maybe? I play mostly TGs because I'm still bad there and want to head into 1v1 being at least decent. So should I just go for drush default? I heard men at arms was super meta when the game launched but I dont really know at this point.

Sick micro, hope I absorb the decision making of those micro moves. Can you please tell me what is a good minimum value out of a mangonel? Is one headshot enough? Is going scorpion vs archers fine? I find scorps giving more value for a less micro intensive player. Thnx for the amazing series Dr. Hera! How about Malay on land maps next? Similar TC time advantage with them and perhaps similar unit comp?

They cost 135g135w iirc, so if you headshot 135/135 worth of units from another player it should be worth it.

In fact i first played AoM, and i loved Norse civ there, with many infantry options. Sadly here huskarls are with the goths and throwing axe men with the franks. At least give my the Nidhogg :D

I think that, after this video, I will (or try) to focus less on remembering civ bonuses and focus more on strategy and learning. Knowing perfectly that Berserkers regenerate hp did not help me to be better than 1.1-1.2k. Anyways, I'm not sure I understand: why Vikings are not good in mid game? This is where their free wheel comes in, and you can better sustain any late-feudal or early castle strategy. Sure, they have no bonuses on siege, cav or archers, and infantry mid game is not that important, but a better eco should help in, e.g., knight rush with all upgrades, or earlier ballistics and thumb ring on xbows, or not?

I think if you don't have micro skill as hera, you will probably lose all your crossbow to knight and siege right when you get to imp. At lease this happens to me

why crossbow vs cavalry? is xbow good vs cavalry cuz chinese have no paladin upgrade? If I predicted cavalry logic would make me go for spears, but they get counter by chinese archers, so berserker would have been my choice but I see now they have low pierce armor so not very good either...thats why he goes fast imp to try to beat xbow/knight with arbalesters?
