The whole "knowing how to photograph colored people" is honestly such a huge deal that no one talks about. My family got some family photos taken for my mom's birthday a few years ago. We're a latino family and the fam included my parents, my sisters. My niece and my brother in law who was the only white member of our family. The photographer sent us the finished photos and her color correction fixed my BIL from looking washed out but somehow the rest of us turned into orange cheetos. I had to quickly color correct the dozens of photos on my crappy computer before my mom had a chance to start printing photos to put up in her living room 😆 The photographer was a family friend who does take amazing photos but apparently we were the first mixed family she ever had to edit...

About 10 years ago I had a camera that would automatically detect if someone blinked in a photo. It would make a little chime and alert you on the camera's viewing screen. Every time I tried to take a picture of my best friend who was Asian, the camera flagged the picture with a defect. Fucking atrocious technology.

Just binge watched/listened to every single SadBoyz™️ pod over a 48hr period and a few things happened, 1. My emotional maturity tripled overnight 2. I felt super validated about my struggles with ADHD and bipolar 3. I got back into old Kanye 4. I’ve fallen hopelessly in love with Jordan (I already loved Jarvis, even before big boobie tried to silence him) 5. I have sworn to pursue a vast knowledge of how computers work despite my boomer-stuck-in-a-millennial-body level of tech understanding. My friend introduced me and my boyfriend to Facebook, (we came there from LiveJournal), and back then it was college students using it and you needed an invite and had to be another college student so my friend suggested we just put that we went to my friends school even though we weren't in school at all and even now it still says my boyfriend is a student of such and such school even though he doesn't have to have that and probably never did but he's nostalgic and doesn't want to change it. Also I remember when everyone posted in the "is at a really cool party right now!" "wants cheetos and Pepsi!" (Your username then whatever your status was written in the second person). Nobody does that anymore. Lol.

Btw - the white as a standard. I think it is due to the fact, that until 20th century all the science and develepment of society was very much centred in Europe. And guess who wasnt in Europe in those times - black people. I am not trying to be offensive, but as far as my knowledge goes, this could be the reason. I am European (central Europe, to be exact) and white, I dont really encounter black people - I happened to run into two or three in my life. So no wonder the white is standard here. But for me who wants to be a doctor, I would love some more representation as for how skin conditions on other skin tones look like.

Sorry but that really isn't true about science and development. Gunpowder was first used in China as well as the printing press. The Middle East had some of the best scientists and our numerical system is based off the one they developed. The Mayans had some of the most advanced calendars due to how good they were at math. Scientific and societal advancements were made all across the world and not just in Europe, idk if you learned differently in school but the main reason white is the standard is because of a lot military conquest or economic domination both in more recent history.
