i worked at an american eagle for two months during this summer, and my boss wanted us to use the code name 'Karen' for any black woman who came in the store (which, besides being racist, is extremely ironic). She wanted us to watch them and genuinely try to get them OUT OF THE STORE. needless to say, I quit. I then reported her to corporate HR and they did nothing to her! my point here is that I don't think American Eagle is interested in being anti-racist, and also that I wouldn't be surprised if aeropostale and Hollister do the same.

The way we treat the mentally ill is a subject close to home for me, so it was great seeing some of my favorite creators bring it up. Keep up the awesome work (or don't, do what makes you happy)! It wasn't to the same scale, but I was living in pigeon forge when the smokies caught on fire. I had to work outside pushing carts at the kroger over there and breathe in the smoke that had drifted in. The air was so dry all the time and I had a cough for a good while after. My house was actually in one of the areas that had to be evacuated because they thought the fires were going to spread and catch there. Earlier in that day, I took a video from my driveway of dead leaves blowing through the sky in the strangest way. Felt really foreboding to me, and lo and behold, we were told we had to evacuate later that day. We went to my older sister's house the next city over to stay the night. We wound up being very lucky, because it started raining and the fire didn't come anywhere near our house. I was so terrified through most of that experience, I can't imagine how it must feel to live through what's going on over there now. All of you please be safe.

I find it strange that I only recently got into this section of youtube, Jarvis, Danny, Drew, D'Angelo, Mac, and within a month of me discovering all these people they've all been guests on your show. I know i'm not that important that I made this happen or anything. There's probably some data driven stuff going on behind the scenes. I'm just along for the ride.

I think its so important to have a conversation about mental health on the scale of celebs because how many times do us little people struggle with the idea that "i have everything I need and more and im still broken inside" when the reality is that our experiences are hardly relative to our circumstance and that's made so clear when celebs still go through it too. I was crazy when I was broke and couldn't afford to buy food and pay rent at the same time, but I'm still crazy now when I don't have to worry about my finances like that. Poverty and mental illness exist separately even though they overlap in many ways. Theres always a stigma when people look at mental illness from outside of it, she's crazy because of her upbringing, she's crazy because of her relationship problems, she's crazy because of her financial situation, etc. I'd like to see a large scale conversation about the intricacies of mental illness and about how it should be treated with care and understanding. We need accommodations to live and breathe and flourish like how food and water are necessities and whether we're dirt poor or famous and rich or anywhere between I want to see us acknowledged and accepted and treated with love and kindness.
