The fact that he works almost 24/7 to keep Clayton safe and off the streets makes them angels. Even with the $2,100 housing allowance, that’s still all their time and a lot of their personal money going towards his care. That’s pretty dang selfless.
@ChristinaAkintola3 ай бұрын
I feel that working to allow a vulnerable adult to live as independently as possible is as good thing but would not call him an angel. He is getting free room and board plus 42k a year. Also, getting every other weekend off is not the same as working 24/7 (see him playing computer games with Clayton) instead he is oncall meaning he sleeps when Clayton sleeps, short periods of work such as cooking and cleaning and the rest is just hanging out with him

What I really like about Gail is she proves that the way couples handle their finances has a major impact on the overall relationship. A couple that has a reasonable income but is adult and responsible can live very well. Drive around the neighborhood and see big homes with expensive cars and think the owners have big money. They might but they might not. Live below your means, have a written budget, pay off debt then avoid more debt and save for a rainy day.

Preach It! Preach It! Preach It! I have learned so much from this Show. My Cousin is like a Frog leaping from Pod to Pod. Since 1991 she's lived in Six Locations. She now lives in a Condo in a New Housing Development. Some of my Fam have bragged about what they have, but deep down you know they are up to the backside in debt. I wonder if they knew how challenging it is to raise a Special Needs Child. In the UK, an Actress named Mandana Jones has a Son Lorenzo aka Enzo that is not only Autistic but he has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. He's run away from Home multiple times but he channels his Energy in a Artistic School run by her former Co Star Simone Lahbib.

Not everybody gets to do what they want! In order to stay with our budget, we take no vacations, no trips, we don''t have Cable TV, or Smartphones, we don't eat out or buy Starbucks, and only rarely buy new clothing. The only clothing, we buy are shoes and glasses - both of which are for health reasons. We focus instead on our health which means eating organic foods and every meal made from scratch at home. We have just one vehicle, a 2012 Subaru. Our only debt is our condo and HOA fee. We are two seniors on a fixed income and my husband also works three days a week mixing paint so we can have Functional Medicine (paid for out of pocket), our organic groceries, and put money away for our property taxes. Our emergency fund took a big hit the past two years when we had to replace our water heater, our furnace, our dishwasher, and a 14-year old range, fridge and microwave. We are now working to rebuild our emergency fund.

Good for you! Just a idea: if you are in the US, and have a Habitat for Humanity nearby, there should be an associated Restore outlet. You can find decent appliances there for very little money. I got a 2-year old stove for about $400, and will go look for a fridge when my current one poops out. They get all kinds of furniture, accessories, electronics and building supplies - a friend got all her doors and windows there when building her home; so take a look and see what you can find. Also, don't forget "freight damaged" appliance outlets - you can get items with cosmetic damage only and save money there also. I NEVER buy new "out of the box". I simply can't afford it.

I have noticed that nowadays, social workers usually need a master's degree for many jobs in their industry, but the entry and median incomes are low. If you're going to get a MSW, try to get a job with tuition remission so that you don't accrue too much student loans. The downside is that the final semester of studying for a MSW, students often have to take time off from work because there an unpaid internship component. If a person is from modest means, I wouldn't recommend going into social work because it's financially draining, unless that is someone's passion and they don't mind struggling with money for much of their adult life.
