I wish if it was just that. It's the whole idea of "Empowerment". Let them eat all they like. Just don't deny facts and change logical laws. I was very fat when I was a teen, like 115kg fat at 15 years old. I took a whole year out in my early 20's to eat very healthy, have positive influence around me and work out. When I looked at him, I noticed the big guy trying to squeeze himself into his chair. My husband was totally leaning on him. I felt pretty bad for the guy. He looked so uncomfortable. The things is it’s fine to be worried about our health but I have a medical condition that makes it very easy to gain weight and very hard to lose it. So I have been mocked for my size for my entire life (I am not morbidly obese or anything) the way people would treat me less than human made me want to die. I was put into therapy in 4th grade because the constant harassment made me extremely depressed. The harassment almost killed me. I hate the fact that people say it’s ok to be fat and that it’s healthy to be fat because I’m just going to say it it’s not ok to be fat. I weighed 289 at 15 and it was not muscle it was fat and I didn’t use the fact I’m fat to get people to change the size of hallways to fit my size. Nah, we don't sit and think "man, that fat lady shouldn't be happy". Not at all. If you pay for the seat, it's all yours. I think we all just wonder how someone can be so happy whilst paying the ultimate price for their addiction. I'm not talking about the extra seat, though it was probably quite pricey. I'm talking about your health and your ability to live an active and joyous existence. When we see someone in such a condition, we are in awe of the absurdity. You have to buy double seats, can't walk about normally, can't even breathe without assistance but you're still laughing at us. When do you decide you've paid enough for your addiction and start taking your freedom back? When do you decide the life that was meant for you is worth the effort to stop eating in excess? Fat positivity was never meant to enable morbidly obese individuals. It was created so we value others despite their differences. It was supposed to create love and compassion for each individual and to shatter beauty standards. It led me to look at the person inside the body that carries them about. But, when I see the hurt, pain, self-loathing and punishment going on within this obese human body, I see the soul has been fractured and lost its will. It has been weakened to a state of instant gratification based on addiction. I do not see real happiness but a facade. You cannot be truly happy if your existence revolves around gorging yourself into an early grave. It makes me sad to see that an entire movement is preaching acceptance over change. Eat every single thing you want. You're entitled to enjoy it. When you can no longer move at all, will it have been worth those extra portions? The overindulgence? That's simply your choice. If you're happy with that, at the end of the day, who are we to judge?
