@mybeest2724 This. Probably the best story teller in the food industry. And surprisingly he looks healthier now then he did when he was doing Bizzare foods. Its a shame people nowadays want to watch a 30 second short of someone cooking something that doesnt explain how to cook it at all vs someone Like Andrew who can keep you glued to the tv for an hour. And sadly this is why he doesnt have millions of subcribers, because people today have the attention span of a goldfish. Ironically, im sure Andrew has a recipe for that.

There are so many reasons I miss living and growing up in Maryland but probably the primary reason is not having steamed or soft shell crabs where I am now. Just something about a soft shell sandwich!

MD its pretty common to put some bacon on a soft crab sandwich and its built like BLT. nice white toast, mayo, salt and pepper lettuce, fresh Maryland tomato slices, 2 strips of bacon and nice large soft crab. lightly dusted in flower and cornstarch AND because Maryland some old bay!

Soft shell crabs are tops. We always fry like that then make a gravy with dripping, datal peppers, onion, celery, splash of brandy and cream. Place the crabs back in the gravy and let slow cook for an hour then serve over rice. Old Florida recipe ( my family has been here since the Spanish land grants but it shows up around late 1700s in the family cookbooks). Of course it's mutated over the generations but it's base is still true.

I would like to know if, like shrimp, there’s a way to remove any poop that might be in them before cooking. You know how shrimp can be deveined? Is there something similar with crab and lobsters?

What does softshell crab usually cost ?
@mikecollins12313 жыл бұрын
Well I only know the prices here in Maryland for soft shell, I got some last night they had $6 & $7 each for live, so have to clean them yourself. Or if you want the easy way you can buy a complete sandwich that usually is about $14 with whatever fixins you want and a side of coleslaw & fries.

You know the difference between a soft shell crab and a hard shell crab? The CRUNCH...
@JamesWilson-zw5wb2 жыл бұрын
Andrew,Andrew soft crabs are fried in butta only. Its the maryland way, and seasoned with Old Bay. Low and slow,soft crabs can be very toxic if not cooked thru.

Oil doesn't look hot enough and abundant enough for a pan sear of that many crabs. But long as you like the results, that's all that matters.
@Doddz3212 жыл бұрын
I think he realised that himself but tried to gloss over it. The pan wasn't hot enough at all to begin.
