@@adnan2030 very true, before pandemic i was technically a " Software QA Analyst" but the bulk of my testing was hardware related, the few bits that was Software related was not able to be automated and thus had to be manually tested.

Of course QA can be an engineer. A QA Analyst is typically someone who isn't writing code, or reading code, in order to perform the testing, in a blackbox manner. A QA engineer is someone who could be reading or writing code (to some extent) and have a deeper understanding of the hardware, network and different layers being used. I shifted into QA Eng. when I joined Yahoo! in 2008. The difference was a level of technicality. Beyond QA Eng. there are other roles as well, Automation QA roles, Tools Developer (supporting Quality) - these sometimes fold into the SDET role... and then there is the hybrid technical black box tester - security testing. Today, most Software QA Eng. roles require proficiency in a language (usually Python, Javascript, but sometimes JVM languages or low level languages like C).
