I’m a EMT, and Search and Rescue. I have these and they’ve been fantastic. They clean easily which is nice for bodily fluids. But I also have tons others I use.

The awl could be used to sew certain wounds, although i'm pretty sure you would need a smaller one. Or maybe you can use it for emergency sewing clothes and the like.

I would like to see SOG release folding compound action pliers with no extra tools. I would carry it with my sak. I highly doubt they would do that though. Thanks for the great review. It has taken my mind off hoping hr 8 and 1446 don’t go into action.
@txtoolcrib3 жыл бұрын
I doubt they ever will.

It seems like they tried to make a Raptor that doesn't have the offset handles. Which lead to them making the handles thicker. Which lead to them having space to add a bunch of pointless tools. They of course had to use their geared mechanism, because “branding”. All of which lead to not having enough budget left for the shears. So they went with a stamped metal shears similar to the ones they sell in dollar stores.

How are you supposed to crack open a cold one in the ambulance if your trauma shears don't have a bottle opener?

I hear ya. Just doesn’t make any logical sense.

I would say a lot of nurses use bandage scissors also and in the operating room a bottle opener is quite nice to pop the tops off of vials of medicine

These would be great for nurses as well. $80 is kinda steep though.

Great review Ben ,, but why can SOG come up with there own ideas instead of stealing Leathermans. I just can’t stand companies that can do that .
@txtoolcrib3 жыл бұрын
It does seem to be quite similar. Though I think it is different enough I can give them a pass.
@jpvoodoo55222 жыл бұрын
You might need a bottle opener to have a beer when your loved one is bleeding out. I went to this review because I like the compound leverage idea, but I think they over did it with the extra tools.
@davidnagore7253 жыл бұрын
I can understand why you like the rope cutter, but I don't get it. Seems needlessly redundant with the sheers. Still, in theory I like the idea of the secondary tools but the selection could have been better.
@txtoolcrib3 жыл бұрын
I was actually thinking that while making the video, but decided to leave that thought out.

420HC is pushing it at those prices. 3cr for a cutting implement is unacceptable for the price. Is that even eutectoid?

Also w/r/t the (lousy) screwdrivers: if I'm in a situation where I need trauma shears I'm not unscrewing anything, I'm hacking and smashing and prying my way in.
@Ayrton4everrr3 жыл бұрын
Overpriced I think. The raptor definitely looks sturdier. The ring cutter on the Raptor is a unique feature. With the cheap metal SOG uses, I don't see how they would implement it. Maybe that's why they veered off from it. Great review, thanks.
