Yep you can get a bivy in almost anywhere. I like hoop bivis with front and rear mesh (like my Elan) so you can open your eyes and see the stars at night. A side loader is a game changer though. Much easier to enter and exit. Recommend a tarp to complement the bivi especially in rainy weather. I’d have left the beer in the fridge, too heavy😉 I’d heard of sheep worrying, but human worrying?🤣atb
@StuartThow5 ай бұрын
Yeah I really like the look of the Elan, I think I will probably add one to my collection eventually. The sheep though ... never seen them like that before 😂 they obviously like pizza 🤣🤣🤣

I was so close to buying the midge repellent, so cheers for the confirmation on this dude, nice little spot you had there
@StuartThow5 ай бұрын
Yeah I thought it would do better than it did, I was in a nice sheltered area with practically no wind but the midge repellent didn't stop them from coming near me. I will give it another few goes, because even though it didn't get rid of them I only got 1 bite. Don't know if that was just down to luck though! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 😊

Hi Stuart, pizzas made on a ledge (inspirational). Ive got a Abisko lite 2 and really like it. Its low profile, so you can only really sit up where the sleep compartment meets the vestibule. But thats deliberate so it sheds the wind. Really robust tent in my opinion. If you enjoyed the Salamander Bivvy the lite 2 will feel like a palace. Loved the video and extra dinner guest's 👍
@StuartThow5 ай бұрын
Thank you 😊, I'm really trying to make an effort with my camp meals rather than just boil in the bag stuff. Tastes way better even though I'm a rubbish cook 😂 Hopefully I will get better though with practice! Good to know you like the Abisko, really really tempted with it, do you ever double pole it in winter?
@GoneWildCamping8925 ай бұрын
@StuartThow It can be, but I don't go out in the harsher winter months anymore pal due to my asthma. I haven't double poled it, it seems to manage admirable when I've been in it. Being a tunnel tent I probably would think it a good idea if you got one and headed out in harsh winter conditions tho 👍

Great video Stu.👍 I've noticed myself that those Sheep up on Kinder seem to be getting tamer. Your video demonstrates that lol. Also, that was a nice spot where you camped at. It was a good job that you took a bivvy with you for that location mate. I've heard from others, that those repellent gizmo's seem to work better on Mosquitos rather than Midges, dunno really, that was just something which I heard. This was an enjoyable Kinder adventure mate, cheers.🙂

first off dont camp on an obvious animal track, and certainly not where they come to shelter. Second, dont camp near or in your case on the edge of a deep fall, you will get a terrible head ache if you stumble over. three a simple midge net in your pocket is a great help when you are attacked by the little bleeders. I hope that was not a can of beer you had, you brits dont seem to be able to do anything without a glass in your hand. Four did you ask permission to camp on the property, so if you were over time the rescue team would know where to look.Great views though.
@StuartThow3 ай бұрын
Well in the Peak District if you stay away from all animal tracks then you wouldn't have many places to camp, I do like camping near ledges because you often get the best views. I had a midge net and a flextail tiny repel for the midges. Not beer no but a couple of cans of lovely cider, can't beat it on a hot sunny evening. My location though I share with my wife before hand and then at camp I share my location again using my satellite communicator, which I can also use to call for help if I ever needed to. Thanks for your concern but I'm fine and know the risks, have plenty of experience in the outdoors. 👍
