I enjoy solo camping or with my dog where allowed. Also cold country areas. Have you ever considered a roof top tent? They are ready in a few minutes and great if it's raining or snowing, as you leave your mattress and bedroll inside so it is dry and warm. also being off the ground keeps you off the path of runoff from heavy rain. Tim , another enjoyable video.Love the bird and flowing river sounds. Showing us places that we can look forward to exploring. I drive an AWD SUV, a tad restrictine,but this area looks accessible. Not keen of fording fast flowing rivers with 210 mm ground clearance and no skid plate or winch. Safe travels.
@timbates4wdadventures3 жыл бұрын
I wish i could take a dog, but it's hard with the National Parks. Roof Top tents isn't really for me for a couple of reasons. Firstly they take up all my roof rack space and secondly is the weight factor. Im looking into tents at the moment. Good stuff Tim. I enjoyed this one. You got pretty excited about that ice!!! I think you could do with a square jaffle maker instead of the crumpet toaster. Im also 100% with you on the solo camping. I’ve got it pretty much down pat with a swag mattress in the back of my 100 series and everything I need but minimal gear. Set up and pack up about as long as it takes to open and close a door and unfold and fold a chair. I’m not sure how you go talking to yourself all the time. I think it’d feel weird. I listen to true crime podcasts.

Gone Bush Yeah mate, the amount of ice on top of those puddles was amazing. That ol toasty maker, I couldn’t replace it. It’s over 40yr old. Makes the best toasties Lol. I just pretend I’m talking to other people when making the videos, seems to work. Lol. I really enjoy solo camping, great times in the bush on your own. What, no gum-leaf in your billy-tea, mate? What kinda swaggie are you?! Ahhh, fail ;) Great choice of campfire chips with broccolini & garlic porterhouse -- you beauty! But as for your chips, next time try doing them in duck fat, instead of olive-oil -- it is _sensational_ for chips! Can't beat it. I used to live in Far East Gippsland (out the back of Orbost, Newmerella, towards the beach), and camping in the Snowy Mountains was a regular thing. Went all over, including there, and I certainly remember how warm Omeo district was in August! I'm up in the Mallee now, and though I've got a little out-of-the-way camping spot not unlike that one, it's been a long time since I've visited the high-country, so you're making me nostalgic! Might be time for a visit... Another great video; and you've earned yourself a sub. I agree with other commentators ~ your lack of unnecessary, over-the-top hype is *delightful!*
@timbates4wdadventures3 жыл бұрын
I've not been one for the tea leaf in my morning billy. Just the tea leaves makes a really nice morning brew on the campfire. Duck fat you reckon for chips on the campfire. Sure have't tried that, but im open to anything. I'd like to try some of the beach camp areas down past Cann River, some nice country that way from what i hear. Being up in the Mallee is a big change from East Gippy. It's nice country around the desert. Thanks a lot for your sub, i greatly appreciate it. Cheers Tim.
@Loribyn3 жыл бұрын
@@timbates4wdadventures Just teasing! To each their own, of course. I like one, especially a flowering-gum (a red-ironbark leaf [and I love a bit of ironbark to smoky-cook meat on the campfire -- delish!], or a leaf from a river red-gum in flower) but only the one; and with a lamington for afternoon-tea ... heaven! And definitely try the duck-fat! For shallow-frying chips, especially in cast-iron on a campfire, it just adds something special. Olive-oil is a winner on the broccolini, for sure; but so are duck-fat fried chips. I find it's a bit like doing a steak in butter ~ just that perfect combination. As for the beach camp-sites down past Cann River, yeah -- they were good when I was last there, but that's a long time ago -- I don't know about now. At the peak of the season it was getting a bit 'touristy' for my taste, at least around Cape Conran, Marlo, etc., (but I too like camping alone, off the beaten track); but in the off-season I'd imagine you'd still find a decent campsite that isn't wall-to-wall people. The ones I remember all had facilities however, so you probably should expect at least some other people, I think. Maybe not -- it is far enough from Canberra or Melbourne to be 'remote'. And it is nice country; certainly worth a visit. Lacks the awesome beauty of the High Country though; or that of the west Victorian coast, along the Great Ocean Road; but it _is_ nice; good for boating and fishing, some surfing, but less so for swimming -- most of it is generally a bit rough for swimming, except in the protected bays and inlets; but great for bush-walking in the coastal forests, especially around Cabbage Tree Creek -- some lovely old-growth rainforest through there. There's the Lind and Croajingalong NPs, and of the latter Wingan inlet is a great spot, for bush-walking and camping, with UNESCO World-Heritage sites, and easy/light 4WD tracks.

Thanks Tim for a brilliant video, did bring back a lot of memories I travelled Australia 1996-97,I was very fortunate to travel from Coffs Harbour through Queensland ,Cape York, Arnhem land all the way over to Darwin, Part of the journey done with an old Toyota high ACE van camping pretty similar the way you’ve just done in this video and the rest of it with a swag and a friends old Toyota Landcruiser. Such an amazing country !
