I remember when you were living in a car and I just remember how unglamorous it was but you were functioning well. I am still in awe how you upgraded to a more spacious van but you literally have the bare minimum of decorations and literally have plastic bins and a bed. I applaud you. During one of my first US Army overseas tour (or deployment), we were informed about mandatory "combat showers". What is a combat shower? Essentially, what you just did, Ma'am. The whole reason about it was lack of water and the refill time to accommodate everyone on our remote area. Thank you for sharing this insight. I honestly was gonna go for tarpaulin and that pump bottle mechanism method. I like the hard plastic tote bin/box concept for easy clean and don't need to worry about folding up the tarpaulin after use. It kind of reminds me of my humble beginnings back in the Philippines.

Oh dude, learning how to shower after I started living in my truck was a journey and a half lol. I would drive 30 minutes into the woods and hike a good ways into the trees; so inconvenient. Luckily my work has a shower that I use now! Your set up is so streamlined. I love it!!

When I car camp, i put a shower curtain at the passenger side of the door *parking our car when there is noone around* 😁 Then we shower right there. It feels so good. We get hot water for the winter as well. And I love that idea of your showing inside your van that way. Very cool 🙂

Or fill up a jug with warm water and go outside and take a “Brazilian” shower. Or just go to the gym and take an “American “ shower. Or just go to a bath house and take a “European” shower. A 55 gallon trash can is a great way to shower, you just step into it and wash & rinse the most important parts. Then pour out of your van and dry. It's great storage for big items as well.

You know they have those wet body wipes they sell at Walmart. One body wipe cleans your entire body since the sheet is so large and then rinse off with a bit of water. No soaping necessarily needed. Typically, these body wipes are used on patients who are bedridden, but they’re also great for carrying around when traveling.

You could get a rechargable shower head from Amazon ( that's where I bought mine from). It's s drop in for five gallon buckets and gives you a nice low pressure shower. With five gallons you can take a three to five minute shower. It works great

There’s a 5 gallon shower thing that’s 120 volts and u can use an adapter and a thermometer to heat up the water and it has a pump so the water comes out automsticslly. Try that?

I love your efficient shower and hair washing demonstration!!! If you take less than 4-5 hours to prepare, shower, shave, hair wash, clip toenails, fingernails and then everything afterward like condition your hair, lotion, makeup and any hair preparation..... you're doing better than I am. It's an all afternoon event when I shower because it's generally once a week at the gym. lol I maintain during the week with wipes and no-rinse foam soap.

I use a collapsible bucket for sponge bath. I have a pickup truck that has a shell and it's not roomy enough for that. I'll probably upgrade to a van sometime soon.

Wow, great job including all the details but also moving at the right speed. I wash my own clothes when traveling and I use those plastic hangers with 8 little clips to dry everything. Everything clean and dry the next day.

How clean can you actually get with 1 gallon of water... especially when you have your period?

Davina J yes. That’s what I was thinking. How can you clean off the shampoo and body wash with 1 gallon of water? Unless, you don’t put shampoo or body wash.

In my opinion we get too use to using huge amount of water every time we shower. One gallon of water if a perfect amount of water to get your body clean. I think that she is using product that as she mentioned are not “harsh chemicals” which usually makes them less foamy. That may help when you have very limited amount of water. When it comes to period - I am just speak for myself but I never swim in blood, if she is using tampons it’s even less messy. You have to clean your “down areas” anyway. She is doing great job for the environment with all she is doing. In Poland where I live we only have energy made with burning coal which is very bad for the environment. Even if she travels by her van more than an average person it’s still pretty eco because she is not using that much of an energy. I’m very excited with this idea :)

I don’t think we should waste water but one gallon of water is not much. It is a size of a the jug for milk. If we divide that between washing hair and body with shampoo/body wash, it won’t be clean. It is better off to just wipe body with rag and water.

In a standard shower.. If u rinse quickly n turn off the water to soap up then rinse off youd be suprised how little water you use :)

2 wash cloths, 2 gallon ziplock, bags and a sports towel. Was living out of a chevy astro van for 5 weeks. Would go into library bathroom in a small town library used two wash clothes, Neutrogena liquid soap and hand sanitizer. Wore a clean shirt and brought fresh underware in my pocket. Would use a gallon ziplock bag with 2 squirts of liquid soap and one of hand sanitizer with the bag 1/4 of hot water. Would usually wash feet with wipes and a spritz of clean water. Id do hair and top the go into the stall to do bottom half. A couple of flushable wipes then wash with wash ziplock then other ziplock and rinse wash cloth. A sport towel for 90% dry.

I love this idea. My husband n I are gonna get a van or truck and we want simple easy systems that can be replaced easy. I like this shower idea. I could do this daily if needed. All easy n ok. Thanks for sharing
