The whole talk about the aliens is one thing I personally really liked about the prequels. Especially in Attack of the Clones, I felt they got the right "feeling" for the cg aliens. They felt as organic as the live actors. Like the scene on Kamino when Obi-Wan meets Taun We and Lama Su or the Geonosians and their fight pit creatures...and I'll always have a soft spot for Sebulba from Phantom Menace -- I really just loved the all-around look, feel, voices/sounds, and treatment of the aliens from the prequel movies.

Yes the dialogue is cheesy, but it’s cheese that has aged well. The comradery and acting from the original trio is what helps it to be memorable. This “trio” has no connection to each other (unless you count the Finn bridge) and besides John, everyone else is wooden or shouting.

How about a stretch of creativity and imagination and do a movie or series that has zero attachment to previous characters, locations or timeline? Nah, that's too hard, let's do a film about Han Solo, then Lando, then Boba Fett, then Obi-Wan, then maybe a Chewie movie after that, oh I know how let's do a romance with Finn and Rose, the fans will love that!

David Prichard I bet he doesn't, TFA was the first new OT story after almost 40 years so I could see him and Lucas wanting to do a movie that Bridged the the old and young generation together. One thing I know JJ will do in this one is what was left out of TLJ that he set up at the end of TFA like The Knights of Ren.

The thing is rian did a shit ton of rehashing in the last Jedi anyway. It has the same ending as empire strikes back. The villain tries to lure in the hero, hero refuses, the villain has a small victory and the hero escapes by their teeth on the millennium falcon. People give Rian Johnson praise for killing Snoke so fast but it’s not different than Vader killing The Emperor other than it being in the second movie rather than the third except that it doesn’t result in Kylo turning good like Vader did.

Most people's complaints are my positives. I thought the smaller scope of the film was excellent. It reminded me of the eu / comics and it gave you a better idea of han without changing the character. But that inconsequentiality mixed with general fatigue made for a film that appeals exclusively to hard core fans ...that aren't mad over women or black people being in the film.

Actually Sammy, in legends material, Bobs Fett did escape from the Sarlacc pit but he was heavily damaged and scarred (both armor and body). Hell, even fellow bounty hunter Dengar had to come in and patch him up. I can see the Boba Fett movie being about after escaping the pit, and everyone basically thinking that he’s dead or his notoriety has gone down, he tries to cement his name into the bounty hunter business again while there’s new faces that are disrespecting his name. I want it to be a more personal story, kinda like the comic “Twin Engines of Destruction”.

Great show as always!! I am a bit surprised you guys didn't cover how part of the normally loyal fan base has decided not to see this movie (tend to be the multiple viewing kind) as a protest on the overall direction of the SAGA and in particular on how Disney has gone on about responding to those who do make VALID POINTS on why they are dissatisfied. Lucas film seems to have resorted to name calling and labeling everyone as to having extreme views rather addressing some of the well thought and rational arguments on why people are not happy (you cover some in your video). What goes around comes around!

To be clear, is not that Lucas Film has to provide answer to fans that are concerns or raise valid points, would be nice if they did it in an appreciate manner (that would be sound customer service) but people are right that they don't have to do that!! What is NOT ON is to start labeling everyone that doesn't like the new direction and overall planning of the SAGA as extremist just because they don't agree with them (Directors and Producers on attack mode) - that is just a bad move
@mrhopadopalus6 жыл бұрын
MaguzMc International if Lucas films didn’t maliciously attack the fans their wouldn’t be so much anger toward them they force all these political messages far more than the other 2 trilogies Rian Johnson and his snoke theory shit, it’s just not a good relationship, you can disregard what the fans think and just look at the last Jedi as apart of an established universe, it takes the force and warps what it was already established to be, it breaks light speed by weaponizing it contradicting past conflicts with in the universe. The argument that “fans hated it because it wasn’t what they wanted” is invalidated by the fact that the movie breaks rules and changes concepts of pre established universe. That warrants people who are familiar with the universe to say “I didn’t like that it doesn’t fit with in this already established universe”

Since many SW fans have been openly hating on TLJ/Johnson, and have no problem boycotting 'Solo' in theatres (some fans even saying they'd rather pirate 'Solo' than see it on the big screen)... fans may very well refuse to see any of Johnson's new SW films in theatres too.

i would like to point out that the fact solo didn't do so well as much as it did at the box office was because the past 3 star wars films The Force Awakens, Rogue 1, and The Last Jedi all were pretty much made as a cash and grab for kids to get their parents into by merchandise based on this film for Christmas. Not only that but ever since Force Awakens came out, there were people everywhere here in Sacramento, CA who were lined up in droves so they can see the kickoff movie off their Christmas vacation. I mean I myself went to a 7:00pm 3-D showing on opening night on December 15, 2015 (the same day my dog, pepper died R.I.P.) and I went to the Cinedome while is was in its remodeling phase and it was literally pouring rain and the crowds were all the way at the end of theater. Point Saying the only reason why I think is maybe because even though original 6 (except the 3-D animated The Clone Wars Spin-off which was released as a kickoff film for theaters in August 2008 to start the new upcoming fall TV series on Cartoon Network) were only scheduled as summer releases where as the latest three were scheduled as Christmas releases and this felt like it was a little early for a Star Wars anything to be released in this day in age

I thought this was the most star-warsy Star Wars movie since the original trilogy. None of the prequels or new movies capture the feel of the original films, but Solo does. The film was okay but they still turned Lando the coolest dude in Star Wars into Finn 2.0 another black male character emasculated, getting no love and made into buffoon comic relief. Kennedy and or the writers clearly had have an agenda to write weak beta black male characters all the time. Korey is also right about Hollywood's agenda to only make interracial love acceptable and mainstream only when it involves white male character. In the first 10 minutes they had Thandie Newton's character kissing up on Woody Harrison while Finn hasn't got any romantic kiss from Rey in two films and they even inserted a token Asian love interest for Finn to try and kill the romance between Finn and Rey. The plantation mentality of Hollywood is appalling.
@Delboy06 жыл бұрын
Kathleen Kennedy clearly has no respect for Black Audiences she knows Black Audiences hate Buffoonish black characters and keeps doing this with Black male characters in the new Star Wars movies. Black Panther shows the money you will make from Black Audiences if you write strong Black characters and they have blown it now and Black people are no longer gonna see any of the Star Wars films and you need black people globally to have a massive hit today and I don't think Kennedy knows this and thinks it is still the 1970s where she thinks having token black characters is enough while all the white characters do all the cool stuff. Bootleg this from now on.

At about 13:00 : You know something I would LOVE to see? If they got Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes to play a Hutt and... whatever race Salacious Crumb is, in the next movie ^_^ It doesn't have to be a huge scene, just a quick cameo where both say something, kind of like how Simon Pegg and Daniel Craig got cameos in the Force Awakens, simply because they were big name Fanboys of Star Wars. At about 17:00 : When it comes to puppets for Practical Effects: I don't see why Disney of all people couldn't do better here, they own the company who is best known for making Practical Effect sci-fi/fantasy creatures: Henson Associates (the Muppet people). At about 20:00: As to Darth Maul: You are right, if you only go by his appearance in 'Phantom Menace', Maul isn't really a character at all. However, the people who were in charge of the animated series "Clone Wars" and "Rebels" really liked Maul, and took great effort to make him the villain we really wanted to see (enough so that his ridiculous survival after being CHOPPED IN HALF can be forgiven ^_^). So, it was nice to see the movies acknowledge part of the expanded Star Wars universe, and my hopes are that he will appear in the Boba Fett movie, perhaps in a 'Versus' situation (although much of Maul's story, including his final death, has already been told, I wouldn't mind some 'retconning' of it if it makes for a better story in the end).

RheyaRu!z that’s bullshit and you know it. No one is going to watch Deadpool for its enthralling narrative. The action and comedy are great, they nail it. Don’t assume I like every marvel film because I don’t. The big differences are marvel actually cares about what it’s Dan base think and they deliver fun action packed movie that cries different genres while making the fan base feel as if they are being catered and welcomed. Lucas film has lost its identity trying to force identity politics into everything and then blame fans for not liking their shit movies. Or they like make excuses blame others without taking any accountability for the bullshit they put out.

Solo was completely tone deaf. They even played John Williams Imperial March as the Empires in universe theme song! That is the dumbest cringiest shit any movie (that's not a parody) can possibly do, it was pathetic when David played the Prometheus theme on a recorder in Alien Covenant and its pathetic when The Imperial March is played in universe in a recruitment video for the Empire. Also the best part of the movie was when that obnoxious L3-ET droid was killed and then they permanently imprisoned it within the Millennium Falcon, which was hilariously tone deaf for a character who was campaigning for liberation to be then imprisoned by it's friends instead of just uploading its hard drive into another Droids body, Droids aren't alive so they can be replaced and repurposed like any hardware. Also it makes no sense for Droids to be demanding for "Droids Rights" considering less than 20 years ago in the Star Wars universe a Droid Army brought the galaxy to the brink of destruction and Droids were invading, enslaving and massacring every organic species home planets and star systems. Droids are the main cause of Palpatine being able to seize power as they created a war that lead to Palpatine establishing the Galactic Empire that's now ruling the galaxy. That would be like if after WW2 the surviving Nazi's were demanding for "Nazi Rights" and were campaigning so that they can still practice, preach and promote their fucked up ideology. If anything all organic life in the galaxy should absolute despise Droids and they should enforce strict restrictions on their abilities and their movements. That line in A New Hope of the Cantina owner saying "We don't serve their kind in here!" in relation to Lukes droids makes perfect sense (retroactively) when you consider how organic life would feel towards Droids after the Clone Wars.

That's victim blaming logic right there. Two slave armies fighting each other and do we hold the leaders accountable? Nope. DAMNED DROIDS! Riight.

Solo is the most consistently "Star Wars" movie since The Force Awakens, and managed to be the also the most original of the new movies. Star Wars has always been about FUN. It's like it took all the best parts of A New Hope, with the western elements played up over the fantasy elements. It's the best one for me. Rogue One, while consistent, had the death star plot (again) Darth Vader (again), the empire are the bad guys (again). TFA was just A New Hope for a new generation TLJ was original only in characterization (for better or worse) of certain characters like Luke and Kylo, the story was incredibly similar to Empire.

Does it really need saving? Or does Hollywood need to lower its box office expectations? It's not the 80s anymore, there's plenty of sci-fi shit other than SW, and plenty to watch outside of movies. Also, to be honest the Star Wars movies are overall 50-50 - the original trilogy was great, the prequels were shit, and the TFA-era has been polarizing. Some people like certain films, others don't. Maybe we just need to stop treating SW like every film needs to break box office records.

Bro, the movie cost $250 million to make and movies honestly only have 3 weeks to make that money back by doing double their budget. It's in the contract relationship they have with theaters: for the first two weeks, the distributors make 90% of the sales revenue from movies and that balances to 50/50 then to mostly the theaters after that. Every movie, from block busters to indie films, needs to make double their budget in three weeks. If Solo doesn't make $500 worldwide in 3 weeks, it IS a financial problem for the distributors who put down credited money to make it. Which is why when these people spend $150, 200, 250, 300 freaking million dollars on films, they NEED to be massive blockbusters all over the world or else. Lucasfilm made the prequels on budgets of about $110-120 million, X-Men movies usually cost between $100-150 and most Marvel movies cost $120-150 million and ONLY the Avengers movies cost $200-220. Star Wars and DCEU are the only popcorn-flick franchises that blow their wallets on literally every film they make, thinking that audiences will watch every single film they make with equal enthusiasm.
@Lordgenome766 жыл бұрын
Good points. I haven't heard that 90% figure before, but overall I agree with most of this. I only said "Hollywood" before, but I think the message goes to DISNEY as well. Star Wars doesn't automatically equal profit. It can be a success if you handle it right, like the DCEU. Unfortunately that second-week drop has pretty much sealed Solo's fate, just hoping they learned some lessons here.

OMG, I just had an amazing idea.... What if Boba Fett was such a feared outlaw because the original Boba Fett teamed up with some of his Stormtrooper brothers to pull a Dreaded Pirate Roberts and all be Boba Fett? MAKE THAT MOVIE, LUCASFILM!
@postmanpat66 жыл бұрын
I did not see Solo. I was very disappointed with TLJ. What made my decision was Lucasfilm calling all fans who did not like it racist and sexist. Also the writer Jon Kasdan saying that Lando was pansexual. This has no place in a Star Wars movie.
@Theyungcity236 жыл бұрын
Aidan Brennan why only have sex with human women when there are sexy robots and aliens? It's very Star Wars
@mrhopadopalus6 жыл бұрын
The fact that he went out to say lando was pansexual was such a political publicity stunt I think all star wars fans are well aware that Lando probably fucked aliens, going out of your way to use the word “pansexual” to pander to the extremist left is the issue, Your right there is no place for forced modern gender politics in Star Wars. If he just said “you know Lando is a pretty promiscuous guy, he gets around the galaxy if you know what I mean” he could have gotten the same point across with out being preachy about it.
@mrhopadopalus6 жыл бұрын
Theyungcity23 but is the word “Pansexual” very starwars? Or is it a word to try and pander to the gender extremist because I don’t think you need to be considered a pan sexual to fuck a robot or an alien. It’s very unnecessary to have to label the character with a concept that has never existed in the established universe just so it can related a current issue in the real world, it’s like them saying “well Lando hates police brutality and the white privilege that sweeps the galaxy”, it’s a real world issue thats not relevant to Star Wars, why is it being shoehorned in.
@Theyungcity236 жыл бұрын
mrhopadopalus but that's what the word means. It's like saying it's unnecessary to use the word cut when someone uses a lightsaber to sever something.

There is another thing I didn't understand about this movie. L3 becomes part of the Falcon. How does that tie into what we know know about The ship? Did C3PO talk to the L3,artificial intelligent computer in Empire to learn the Hyper Drive need work in Empire? It makes no sense! Is that the reason why the Falcon is referred to like a woman?

Nah Boba Fett was a badass character because he just looked badass and was basically the only 'minion' type character, who spoke back to Vader. Im the same Rogue One was solid. I hated the Darth Maul cameo at the end, hes a cool character and i like how the fans helped bring him back but he really wasnt needed in the Solo movie, especially when you think about the FACT, Han Solo later on said to Luke and Obi Wan that hes never witnessed anything of the force in all the galaxy that he has seen.

incorrect Korey. the best thing Disney can do right now is compliment the OT with their Star Wars Story films, meanwhile nix their continuation of the Skywalker Saga (Episodes 1-6). OK they already shit the Bed with 7 and now 8...9 might as well have a Leia funeral in it and be done with it. Wrap it up. Then go on and do whatever the hell you want - by continuing "A STAR WARS STORY" titles with Rey, or Ren, or whatever...Just stop continuing the SAGA AT LARGE.
