I appreciate all of your comments discussing this! Ultimately this tier list was meant to be a bit loose just as a starting point to discuss C0 four stars, and I'm glad we are talking about it! I will probably respond to more comments directly later, but yes I agree Collei should've been placed higher, she suffers from Dendro traveler existing, yes, but that should not have pushed her to C tier. There are niche uses cases for her frontloaded dendro that you could certainly argue make's her A tier instead. I definitely should've thought more about her but recording brain wanted to move on lol Gorou still deserves F tier in all but the most limited of contexts when it comes to the current state of Genshin though, imo lol. But if Hoyoverse releases more def scaling units my tune may change (slightly)

@@nubeks189you aren’t wrong, but the way kachinas kit works synergizes well with scroll. There are def some teams where a character is only there for an artifact set, like the pyro deep wood holders on Konica teams, where those characters feel awful. Kachina may be a glorified scroll holder, but it feels fine and “just works.”

So Layla actually applies as much Cryo as Rosaria who is always praised for it. She trades damage for defensive utility, and she's less reliable in AoE/due to timing. But They both apply Cryo on skill, then Rosaria's burst at C0 applies Cryo 5 times, +2 at C2. Layla's burst shoots 8 stars, 4 cryo apps total. And she can shoot 3 volleys of stars with her shield, 3 additional Cryo apps. Gaming can melt ALL his damage with just Layla for example, it works very smoothly for single-target/bosses. So I agree with you, but she's better than even YOU are giving her credit for imo lol

I certainly admit to have some bias lol. Kirara got bumped up by being a dendro unit with defensive utility, though. Layla being cryo hurts her because they are few reasons to use cryo, but not 0. I shouldve maybe discussed cryos use with dendro. I believe I ultimately placed Layla as a case of have a relevant early C1, but I can see her being ranked higher for many people since it technically isnt needed. But her entire kit turns off (loses energy and skill dmg when shield breaks), so I think having a tankier shield is quite important to her

Hi, Ningguang player here! (you actually reviewed my challenge account semi-recently) While her c6 is a very nice damage boost, I would argue that her most important constellation is her c2 which lets her recast her skill when the screen is broken (whether by hitbox collision, hp depletion, or burst usage) which is such an important part of a good rotation for her. Every else is pretty much optional dps buff. I would personally put her into B tier as a result, since she is extremely usable at c0 as a dps, especially casually in the overworld at lower levels (similar reason why you put Mika highly - good strong NAs, with the added bonus of being Geo so she has way more flexibility in breaking shields that typical physical swings can't).

As a newer player, this was very informative. A lot of content creators focus solely on c4+ builds for characters, and it makes it very hard to determine what characters are actually viable for newer players or those that haven't had the opportunity to get constellations.

On Xinyan, id argue that c2 is "necessary" to making her work, as it makes her burst auto generate a level 3 shield and it guarantees a crit, meaning she can hold fav and not need to build crit rate at all. Those two factors make the defensive parts of her kit a lot more consistent, where c6 just boosts her damage by a low amount on a bad source.

After playing Genshin for a while (f2p player), it’s actually horrendous at how getting all the four stars is. When I REALLY got back into the game roughly last year, I always wanted to get Heizou (I’m character first-playability second), why did I have to wait an entire year just so I can play as him?? And I’m a lil bias on Freminet and Ga-Ming since I play as them the most (kinda main as them at this point) and I only just now realized that I never had constellations for the two. Yet they’re the most comfortable and fun I have playing four stars wise, Fremi’s more clunky playstyle matches his personality to me, and Ga-Ming’s feels like throwing a nuke at enemies. I always have to think more when playing them-like a bigger challenge to use in comparison to others like Bennet. Always enjoy your videos like these, of course it’s your tier list, but you rank them all with good reasoning (gorou being so low makes me sad but I do agree with the constellation issue he has-)

Here some of my disagreements, just wanna share: - So Charlotte and Mika are A tier because of Furina, and Sayu is C tier even tho she can hold VV and work outside of "Furina teams". - Lisa is such a tasty girlie for dendro teams, she's one of exceptional ways to buff cores damage. Collei's placement is a crime, placing her lower than Kaveh or Chongyun. She doesn't need any cons, is playable with Tighnari and is very functional in Nilou teams. I feel like she is basically like Barbara in that regard, so they should be placed together. Her C4 is a non-factor in this discussion because her frontloaded app is accessible at C0. I understand that that is your opinion, but I just wanted to add some perspective from a person who actually plays Collei. Otherwise, great video!

Mika and Charlotte in A meanwhile Collei at C tells me that this person doesn't really understand much about team comp. The 2 Cryo have like 1 or 2 teams that they can function in and are mid at it. Collei however has great dendro app, can use weapon like Elegy to buff the team and is top pick in Nilou team only behind Nahida.

Thats fair, I ultimately have little experience using her because DMC has more relevant use cases than her. I think I cut out most of me looking at and thinking about her individual constellations, and I decided they collectively mattered enough to the potential experience of using her to rank her lower, but she could easily be in B tier because of her frontloaded dendro

@@Solunerra I feel like this line of thinking is kinda flawed. Would you put characters like Barbara or Yaoyao a tier lower if they didn't have such irrelevant constellations, but instead had something similar to Collei's power-level wise (because of some potential increase in power)? Or would Collei be ranked higher if she had non-factor constellations? Because constellations of those characters do not influence their kit much, and feel more like QoL improvement or just flat number buffs. So ranking them so far apart makes little sense to me. That also got me thinking if we're sticking to the video's title, then characters that do receive massive improvements to their kit via constellations are ranked higher than they should realistically be. Bennett's C1 is a must, it lifts his ult restriction (thank god it does that) and gives him 4 talent levels worth of ult ATK buff, yet he is ranked in the top despite this issue. XQ is also debatable because his C2 improves him a lot, but that placement is more or less debatable. This leads me to believe that they all should be ranked somewhat close together, despite how wild that sounds, because of the original premise.

I'm not sure if this is still the case, but I remember Diona having the second strongest shield in the game apart from Zhongli. Put a sacrificial bow on her and she's also one of the best cryo support batteries available. I really don't know why everybody hates Diona.

Hmm during 1.0 she used to pair with Ganyu but require c6 for that EM Later on she help some Cryo char Battery like Eula Fastforward to Inazuma 2.0 she match with Ayaka for battery But from Sumeru 3.0, all Ganyu/Ayaka/Eula losing meta and people start compare her to Layla In term of using with Wanderer, Diona heal can't not reach wanderer when he's in too high mid air combat, compare to Bennett who is able to heal wide Nowadays, Chasca is indeed need some shield but yeah, the diona burst range can't reach her For me, she is good for cats and cute funny moments 😊

The only two c0 four stars that I need currently are Chongyun and Sethos. Chongyun I will choose over lan yan in lantern rite, but I've already pulled for Sethos Twice (on both of his runs so far), using probs over 100 wishes total for him, and still not a single Sethos. I was sooooo ecstatic that Heizou c0 finally came home on a single ten pull of Zhongli's banner though. I got so lucky with Heizou and he's one of my all time faves alongside Sethos. I don't think I'll ever try to pull for either Neuvi or Zhongli until after I've gotten every other five star at c0... which will probably never happen for me as a completely f2p player lmao. So I was super happy I didn't have to really risk getting either of them and got Heizou early. Regardless though, yes, Genshin has MAJOR issues they need to fix in regards to 4 stars. I have four total four stars at c6 so far and I've been playing for over a year at this point lol.

No off field (given the newer enemies have beams that go through then jade screen) and bad damage. Only change i would make, is dropping Bennet to A tier. In my opinion, if he's not buff your character, he doesn't do anything. Without a shield or a heal, you basically don't receive any buffs for your character 80% of the time. This is especially true for main DPS characters. If we look for other characters from S, they're still doing their job, even in C0: Sucrose still groups enemies and buff your team, Kuki still can be used in hyper bloom, Chevreuse and Ororon still buffs characters in overload and taser teams, Xingqiu and fischl still are the best off-field applicators even without their C6 and yao yao is still good healer/applicator. It's just such a big difference in "being still really good at C0" and "being good at C0, but only in some under certain conditions or just require some skill to stay 70% hp"

Of the OG power 5, the only 2 I regularly use are Fischl & Sucrose. Never been a fan of Benny, XL is ok but not compelling & XQ has his place but I rarely feel he's essential. They're all C6 & well built so can be pulled out of the box when I have to (IT y u do dis?) but an 80 character roster means parking many in favour of those I enjoy playing.

Soluna, I understand these placements come from ignorance as these characters are not Polearm users! But Collei and Gorou are 2 of the best C0 units. I challenge you to give both of them further consideration so that you may see their true value! Collei applies as much Dendro as Dendro Traveler, but takes less time doing so, and has fewer energy problems. Traveler applies Dendro once with skill, and with Burst 6 times if it infuses Hydro, 7 if it infuses Electro over 15 seconds (at C2!!). If we give him Sac sword, that's 9 (at most) dendro apps every 20s, 80 burst cost... yikes... Intoducing Collei with Sac Bow: Burst initial hit applies Dendro, then every 3s for her 9s burst duration. So 4 apps. Skill has no ICD, thats 4 more apps with sac bow. Floral ring also applies Dendro once at C0, if you SPREAD (haha!) them out, you can get 2 floral rings. 10 applications of dendro every 15s, 60 burst cost. For Traveler, Sac is one more Dendro app. For Collei, it's 3 more. It's just more Dendro per Dendro! But she is a quickswap character through and through, which makes for really good synergy with Candace at C0 who applies hydro when swapping. And I didn't even mention her big multipliers and spread damage, and you can build more ATK EM because you waste less on ER. Constellations add 2 more dendro apps and 60 EM party buff, but even at C0 she is as close to 4* Nahida as we have. Now for Gorou: Petra. EM. Press skill to Crystallize. Press burst to gather Crystallize shard. Your on-fielder now has some 600 more defence, a 35% PHEC damage buff, and creates a shield every 1.5s kinda like Baizhu, but it's guaranteed to take Gorou's EM, so each shield can absorb 4k+ damage which gets further reduced by the defence. 4-5 Crystallizes is more than my Layla's shield. He buffs 5% less than Kachina, but he also becomes a solid shielder for the team! The best teams for this are teams where he can support both a Def scaler and a PHEC ideally, like Noelle/Itto together with Yelan/Furina. But if you're feeling adventurous, the off-field Geo from Gorou can also Shatter every 1.5s, and if you're already building EM I mean... 👀

We live in a world where limited 4* are not guaranteed, and kachina with scroll buffs far more than 4pc petra in both PHEC and geo teams so long as they are not mono geo. In mono geo you need c6 gorou to be relevant. The issue with mono geo right now is that it has a super high investment requirement and ultra low ceiling compared to teams with at least one additional element. It feels bad early game, it feels worse later because spending resin to make it work puts your progress in the rest of the game further back significantly.

I disagree with Collei and Gorou's ranking. Just as Chevy, Gorou has buff in his kit and he can use fav bow (which is free). Of course c6 is relevant but I had him c0 until the event and he works perfectly fine (no energy problems and built with a 4* artifact) I think is fair to put him at B. As for Collei, I have this no pull account and i've been using her more than dmc due to fav bow, also if you need a little more dendro the ring that last for a few seconds is really nice. She gets overshadow by dmc, but she's totally fine at c0 (i think the "problem" is that extra step she does at her E, but that isn't related to c0-6). Also, Sethos enjoyers make me happy~

I believe I said “in my opinion.” I wasnt saying everyone has to build Chevreuse, and I believe I mentioned her reliance on your electro/pyro dps unit investment. But Im gonna continue with this point of discussion because I think its valuable. I dont fundamentally disagree with your points, but I think the nuance of “best c0 four star since release” is more complicated than a vague ranking of how reliant characters are on constellations Hyperbloom has many ways to be utilized without Kuki. I rarely use the lady for pure bloom focus but hyperbloom is a reaction involved in my teams I play all the time. So I dont personally agree with that take considering I never use her, especially with Hoyos continued shift away from transformitive reactions and more incentivizing strong carries (though Chev has interesting transformative reactions relevance too, since her release Ive found overload much more compelling than expected). Would I rank hyperbloom teams as more relevant than chevreuse teams? Hard maybe, as it depends on an individual account. Kuki is likely a smarter earlier priority, of course. Chevs problem is her value being dependent on your electro and pyro crit dps units (on field and off), so different players may feel very different relative values for someone like Chev vs Kuki. Kuki is a more relevant enabler for low investment team options to reach decently high dmg thresholds and is a very relevant character in the game. Ultimately, the two units have very different roles and potential use cases (with small overlap in Kuki in a Chev team, though I rarely do so), and I think both are extremely valuable at C0 and deserve S tier. The nuance of who matters more to an individual player is up to them

Faruzan needs c6 to be fully functional. Kuki is great and no one said she isn’t, besides she is in S tier. Tier lists are based on opinions not facts. Most of the time people say “the best” or “the worst” but it doesn’t mean the best/worst among all characters, it’s just a saying not a fact.

Kuki is great now because of dendro reactions but pre-Sumeru she wasn’t outstanding, and you would want to pull for her C2 for her skill to have no downtime. Faruzan has energy recharge problems without her C4 and C6, and her skill only drops 2 particles without fav bow. Her anemo shred and buff is locked in her burst which you need to funnel tons of energy for. Meanwhile Chev’s buff is in her skill and it lasts longer than its cd and her shred lasts 6s but can go on indefinitely as long as overload reaction is happening. Chev is the best 4 star since release because even though she strictly needs pyro + electro team in order for her to function, she isn’t constellation locked nor does she need to wait for a new type of reaction in order to be viable.

i know ningguang and how to play her optimally and no, she is not a character at c0, at c6 she is basically budget navia, same neiche, same usage, however, navia is A MILLION TIMES EASIER TO USE, her damage also is higher than you would expect, she can almost one rotation every single overworld boss at 104 and clear abysses REALLY comfortably, i've cleared the past 8 abysses with her ever since i resumed playing again, at c0 put her bellow faruzan and gorou, at c6 she is statistically better than some 5 stae units at c0but she is so difficult to play it is improbable that you would do better damage with her than someone like tighnari as an example

Man you did Noelle dirty and ranked shield characters higher (Kirara and Layla) based on their defensive utility but ignored Noelle's shield at C0. Also she's really good as an on-field driver where personal damage don't really matter that much specially with Furina, petra and fav is all you need. Some good teams are wetrock and hyperbloom noelle (hyperfridge variant).

In regards to Noelle, she doesn't need C6, you can do very well on C1! the caveat: you build her on a def heavy archaic petra set, meaning once you get c6 you have to start farm a new set for her if you don't already prepared one for her. armed with a Favonius Greatsword she will be your tank, healer, energy supplier and buffer for pyro, hydro, electro and cryo Load her team up with damaging off-fielders, Noelle does the rest for you

That’s not even close to bad luck 😂 (or rookie numbers as other memes say) I started playing a lot starting in version 3.1 but started with a Fischl from when I tried the game in version 1.x and got it from a really early banner, and my Fischl is C4. The 50/50 misses keep giving me Faruzans… so I have C6 Faruzan despite only having one of those copies from a banner with her on it.

assuming you can furbish her with a def heavy Archaic Petra set and a Favonius Greatsword, c1 noelle is very good. You will not do any damage with her, but she consolidates tank, healer, energy supplier and buffer roles all on her own. That means you can stack up your team with three damaging off fielders

Im kinda new but it hurts that the only character i have any constellation on is barbara, that just happened to get c4, and im not going to get another character untill citlali comes out so its sad im missing fischl (my main team and only 1 built is keqing, fischl, dendro mc, yaoyao), and the second team ill use that havent built yet is going to be (heizou, xiangling, citlali, bennet) so learning xiangling wants constellation a lot makes me hope she is in citlali banner. Btw im not sure what character to have on field for 2nd team im guessing heizou but i think he needs a constellation for it doesnt he. If anyone has used a team like it and can advise me on it that would help.

The lonnger you play the more you get a lot of random 4 star dupes, but of course it may be hard to get a specific one without them happening to run on a five star banner you wish a bunch on. Hence why I feel the context of evaluating constellation dependance in four stats is relevant. I think youve got a good start, and I wouldnt be surprised to see XL with Citlali!

Candace C1 is evil. It took me hundreds of pulls and I did not get it via gacha. I got C0 on Cyno's banner (when Candace released), then I tried to get C1 on Baizhu/Kaveh's Banner, I got one Kaveh and one Baizhu and zero Candace (and I think I went like 70 pulls). And on Xilonen's banner I went 150 pulls and got no Candace. Again. I was only able to get her C1 with that Sumeru Event. And only for a constellation that was supposed to be in her base kit to begin with. Also, about Faruzan, I think her C6 is very weird. It does a lot of things, that could have been more spread out through other constellations. Like, the Crit DMG could be C6 and the random skills being triggered could be C4, or vice versa.

Bennett's c1 is also necessary for Arlechinno, he can't buff her if she's below 70% hp (I've pulled on two of his banners and got the 5 stars but he's still c0🥲)

You should definitely do it, the only characts he doesn't work are niche, and in nearly all team his c6 "ruins" he's not the best in slot

His c6 doesn't even affect Eula and ayaka that much tbh. They still do really good dmg with it; Eula does 25k normals, you just have to make sure to get rid of pyro gauge on enemies and have them applied with electro during her burst so her skill procs superconduct; and ayaka gets some free melts on her skill and burst... Keqing is the only one that has absolutely zero synergy with his c6.

Its my favorite constellation in the game, and I find it rarely interferes with anything. Only time I remotely cared about it was it overriding Lynette C6, but even then I could make the argument a pyro infused Lynette is bettet than anemo infused lol

As a Layla player, I disagree with her placement being so low! No hate or anything, but her c1 is not needed at all. Her kit is very reliable and complete without any constellations. Her burst is cheap and easy to get up even of you don’t have an ER weapon on her. Her shield is the second strongest in the game (behind Zhongli), she has 100% uptime on her shield, her off field cryo application is very reliable, and shes cheap and easy to build! Shes not the best 4 star by any means, but in an Arlecchino melt team or Wanderer team shes genuinely more useful than Zhongli because of her element. Also… Shes really pretty. 😊💗

Same with chongyun, it sounded like you wanted to put him on a-tier but lowered him to b-tier since he's not very meta unit over all But as far as you said and what the video title said, thats not what you wanted to archive with this tierlist. I had some text on screen earlier on mentioning that the end result was trying to balance relevance of the character to build them (a more meta ranking) in conjunction with constellation reliance. With Bennett I dont disagree that he could be A tier. I just dont see Bennett getting replaced any time soon, such that even if you only have C0, you will probably want to build him is my general thinking, especially since he is a very common rerun and exists in the paimon shop it means for the vast majority of players his C1 is fairly accessible. Its fair to say that he or XQ should be in A tier or B, maybe, but I decided to take a perspective of considering the unqiueness of a character kit. Bennett is so relevant that even with C0 you probably should use him, and XQ is relevant because of being the most accessible high hydro output unit (among other valuable aspects he provides at c0). All of this depends on the state of an individual accounts investment level, too. Ultimately I just wanted people to think about C0 four stars more and discuss the nuances, which is what we are doing here

This is an attempted measure of 4 star functionality at C0 relative to what their cons do for them. I believe I said in the video this is not a “my take on the meta” list or a “you should build this character” list. It is “based on how this character was designed, how badly will you feel like you need constellations to reach their potential list” with the tierlist being the general framework for the conversation. But you probably just skipped to the end without listening to my thoughts on C4 vs C0 XL. You are free to disagree, but I think that particularly with Mav and PMC releasing, I wouldnt bother building XL pre C4

Mika only needs to be C6 to match up to a C5 Bennett, Mika as a Furina healer for Ayato, Wanderer, Wriothesley is more than enough at C0 because his ATK SPD is Talent Level based and his burst heals party-wide without being closed in a circle

Ultimately its that team wide healers are elevated and I think many casual players may appreciate him. He just loses value the longer you play. Meta wise I dont think his C6 is super relevant because physical isnt that relevant. Im not planning to build him any time soon, but Id be happy to have him on a new account!

What do u think about arlechino with mavuika; me personally il think it will work mainly because I dont have any other natlan characters(lost 50/50 on xilonen banner😢). I think their team would truly be strong. I would love to hear someones opinion on teams revolving around mavuika without a natlan character

You need natlan characters to use mavuika as dps/sub dps / or support. But if you don't care about clearing abyss or imaginarium theatre then it doesnt really matrer.

​@@xcalibur7246Without natlan characters, no. With natlan characters, yes. The reason i said no, is because mavuika as a support, needs her ult to provide the damage percent bonus to arlechinno. Even as a sub dps, her skill only applies pyro for 6 ticks. I just think there's better characters for arlechinno's team. Without natlan teammates, you wont be able to burst every rotation, and even when you burst every 2 rotations, it won't be with max fighting spirit. If you have natlan characters yes because mavuika can use scrolll of the sinder city artifact set to give elemental damage buff as well as damage percentage buff from her ult.

I think if you're not gonna talk about a 4* at all you should just leave it out of the tier list? Gorou is perfectly functional at C0 for his team. He is extremely out of place in F tier if we're strictly talking about constellation gating and not general teambuilding versatility.

I did talk about his C6 a bit and lack of relevant use cases for him, but I cut it out because I felt he was a more obvious placement at the time. I will admit to being biased against him due to my friend that is a dedicted Itto main who has passionately and in depth described how bad Gorou is, and I default to his judgement perhaps too much due to not playing Itto. But I will argue that the amount of buffer options we have in the game now means that Gorous buff just isnt enough. I feel like you are evaluating Itto by 2 years ago Genshin standards. Even for Itto you have compelling other options on invested accounts. Like if you have Furina I suspect Furina/Jean/Itto/Kachina is more relevant than a C0 Gorou team. And you may say that including Furina there is unfair, but mono geo Itto kinda wants ZL, no? We could go from there and discuss the relevance of plunge Itto (he can build stacks with plunges) and Xilonen, but I digress. For less invested accounts trying to get Itto to be the most functional as possible with what they have currently, can and should C0 Gorou be used? Yes, I suppose. So I will compromise and say I shouldve put him one above F tier.

Faruzan does not need C6 lmfao, what are you even on about? She's great at C0, and yes, she gets a MASSIVE buff at C6, but she doesn't *_need_* C6. Gorou doesn't need C6 either. He's amazing as is; again, C6 is massive but C6 is not a 100%-must-have-don't-play-w/o-C6. Also, Chevreuse, although amazing, is not THE best 4* since Release. Kachina and Ororon are really up there thanks to Cinder City, making them way more universal than Chevreuse is. And again, she is amazing at C0, but she isn't THE best since release.
