Hello World! XLETTERA released detailed instructions to reflash a GPU if you do not have an soldering kit. Don't forget to say thanks to XLETTERA for releasing the method.
You can reflash it without any soldering in this way:
- power off pc - put another svga - put the hd7870 in a lower slot - disconnect power cable to hd7870 - power on pc - boot windows - connect power cables to hd7870 - windows will find the device
- restart windows but boot from usb key (no hardware reboot)
- atiflash -ai -
atiflash -p 0 bios.rom -f
It works for my hd7870 bricked

1. i soldered the pin 4 and 5 which is SIO and GND
2. it boots, ati flash - AI command scan the card with no vbios

Fixing method for Asus R9 280x, credits goes to wk39017 :) he discovered and released intructions to unbrick an Asus R9 280x Hip Hip Hurray!
1. Find a 8 pin chip on the card. There was only 1 for me.
2. Read the number on the chip and google it.
3. Make sure the chip is a "flash" chip. Meaning it stores the bios. If not, look for another chip with 8 pins.
4. Once you have the right chip find the wiring diagram. You want to short between DI and GND.
5. Solder a small wire between DI and GND. (4 and 5 for me, 1 and 8 for the man in the video). I've also seen SI and GND, but I think that might be for motherboards not GPUs. If your diagram only has an SI and no DI, I'd go with the SI and GND.
6. Follow procedure in video above. *Follow at your own risk. Not responsible for damaging anything.

Last week I flashed the GPU BIOS from HD 7870 XFX to unlock the voltage but it went wrong.
Why? Because i was so stupid that I followed the guide on it and flashed my card with a TAHITI BIOS which actually belongs to a HD 7900 series card

After the flash the mainboard couldnt find the card "Adapter Not Found" so the card was basicly BRICED = Dead or Semi Dead, I looked after an solution at several Forums with diferent methods but no success :( here a few:

until I decided talk to my teacher, YES I said teacher (He is a real Pro when it comes to electronic pc parts) he suggested me to sold a cable from Pin 1 to Pin8 (Arrow is PIN 1 and on oposite side from it is Pin8) on Bios from my card j73.img-up.net/xfx-radeonbb2b.jpg with that my it would disable chip select and my mainboard would/could recognize the adapter with an UNKNOWN BIOS, so basicly the TAHITI BIOS (wrong flashed BIOS that BRICKED my card) would be ignore. So here is my Guide to it...
P.S. MY english sucks and the camera was from my cellphone.

Well i saw the forum too but about the Pin Method there wasnt much of information. As soon i unbricked the card I Changed the XFX bios to a Safire one so that i can do VoltageClock and guess what... I couldnt believe that it worked!!!

Thanks fixed my fxf r7870 dd gigahertz edition. The bios chip on that card is a Pm25LD020. You have to connect pin 1 and 8. But i wouldt recommend soldering. Its a lot saver to use a paperclip and Just clamp in on the chip

I chuckled while reading this comment... Let me explain, at the time where I "unbricked" my card whille doing this video, I wanted also to use a paperclip, believe me I COULDN'T FIND FOR THE SAKE OF _________ (fill the blank space) a damn paperclip in my house (and i only needed one, just one paperclip), since the stores were also closed where a lived because it was a Sunday, I recurred to soldering, it worked well for me, 'cause I had experience with it. Moral of story, have a small box of paperclips, just in case. Another AMD 7870 was saved! Glad you could fixed your card. Spread the word! Fun fact: I had also your card too, try a saphire BIOS and you can overclock it, I advise you also a coolermaster GPU cooler, XFX in particular that model had a poor cooling flow while playing high graphics demanding games, but do all what I mentioned at your own risk!

How do you determine which is the right chip to disable (connect pin 1 to 8) ? I have a failed BIOS flash on 7990 which is a dual GPU card, so I have a total of 4 8pin chips that look the size of the one you're modding. 2 on the front and 2 on the back of the card. They all read the same PM25LD010 , which seems to be the flash module used to store BIOS info.

1+8 or 4+5 are all the time. You will not damage any thing. Just do not connect 4+8 or 1+6 or something else. Try 1+8 first. If the chip is not deactivated try 4+5.

You could even use crocodiles clip, either way if you are not confident about soldering your could ask a person with more experience in soldering to do that for you. Paperclip never tried. Thank you very much for your repply. I can't find anyone who can solder my card. I live in a place where those tipe of things are more then unconventional. I can't do it neither. About the paperclip. I have an open system and I can insert the GPU in a riser. So it's not hard for me to hold the paperclip. I can hold it even with a hand :)). The problem is that I don't want to damage anything. If you have time in the future, can you try the paperclip method?

ADITZApeKZbin (InfoBestGames TM Corp.) I could try the paperclip, but for that I had to brick card on purpose and for now I don't have any bricked card that needs such a procedure. But you can still be positive about that, think about it your card is already bricked so you either can fix it or don't, because the only possible way the completely ruin the card is to smash to the ground. by using your method you van either save it but not destroy it completely.

(Pictures down)-Sorry for my bad English.All right. I tried. Again, for those who didn't read from the beginning. I have an ASUS DUAL-RX460-2G that I was able to brick flashing a bad BIOS. On the back of the card is only one 8-pin-chip close to the PCI EXPRESS screw. I assumed that this is the ROM chip. I used a basic clip to connect the pins. First I tried 1+8 but I got the error ,,adapter not found,, second 4+5 ,,adapter not found,,. I assumed again that the basic clip is not working and probably you need to solder a cable. I searched on KZbin, ,,BAD FLASH Adapter not found rx 460 paper clip,, and I found this video ,,kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZqvdXdnnd92qJY,,. This guys say to connect 4+8 with a paper clip to disable the ROM chip. I did. I installed my gpu and I turned on the PC. After few secconds the cilp become red and some smoke was comming out of it. After that my computer shut's down. So, soldering is not necessary. Bad thing for me is that I can't unbrick this GPU because I still getting ,,adapter not found,, in ATIFlash 4.17 under Freedos. And I don't know why... Maby is not the right chip? But I don't have any other 8 pin chip on the back of the card.. I don't have another GPU, so I tried this procedure on an old AM2+ Asrock with an integrated graphics. I,m gonna buy a cheap GPU and I'm gonna try it again on my main PC with ASUS M5A97 rev 2.0 and 2 PCI Express slots. Now, if I am connecting again the pins 4+8, who gave me shortcircuit, the PC does't turn on. Just with 4+8 bridge. But no smoke is comming out. Of man, I am so sad.. Maby I really bricked my GPU now. !Vents still working.. Help?

ADITZApeKZbin (InfoBestGames TM Corp.) You must be sure which pins you have to use (connect), it is different the architecture, GPU model, bios model. You stated that smoke came out... I am going to ask the following: Did you pick the right Bios? Did you cut the bridge while you were flashing the card? Did you used a second cheaper GPU? I used(borrowed) an cheap nvidia with VGA interface. Hold up... YOU did flashed the bios! But you did not remove the bridge? Is that what you are saying?

Guillaume Serrurier if you have a i7 as a cpu than you dont have to be afraid from the upcoming games. Remember to use the latest catalyst update it improves the hd 7870 a little bit, not much but you can see the diference

And if it is so, I am glad you saved your GPU as again I am sorry i could not reply directly to your GPU problem, again I dont have any experience with NVIDIA GPU and AMD GPU (Higher then HD 7870) and before I give any wrong advise, I rather be quiet. Go ahead! I can't guarantee the pins will be the same on all R9 280X (i suspect they are), but if you follow the steps you should be able to figure it out.

None of this helped me my bios was pm25lq0020 in dataset, pin 4 and 5 should be connected tryed but still Adapter not found I took out the chip and then flesh it with the programmer it's now working perfectly

lotfi nasri well I can advise that you show ask a friend to borrow you a GPU (VGA Generation) or you could try with what was told to you in the forum. The only thing I can say is that I this video I had an old working nvidia GPU with VGA interface and it worked

I know it needs a better camera with better focus, since I dont have this GPU anyomore I can't make the same video with better camera. Are you asking if the GPU is not producing any kind of heat? The GPU only produces heat when a certain programm for example an DX9 process demands a graphics performance.

hey what's up, well i'm sort of serious doubts, i haven't brick my bios... yet... But I'm having a weird problem, i have an emachines t6520, which is a pretty old one (2005), anyway i found a ATI HD5450 on my home, so i decided to put it on that old computer, however, everytime i plug the video card the computer doesn't show any signal (the "not display issue") so I been asking a lot and people tell me its just that the mainboard is way to old (but it has an PCI x16 slot) so Im so disconcern, some guys on internet told me it should work fine, some other say i need to flash the bios (which i never have done before, but i'm sort of afraid to do it), i was thinking i just should get a new board, but i'm out of money, however, i just want to put that video card into that board... (i've tried setting the bios to run out of the integrated graphics, but no video configurations or setup is being shown in the bios settup omg.) so i guess the bios its just too old, but i'm not quite sure what to do... can you tell me xD you seem like an expert...

i am not expert just to be clear. well you can try to use a vga cable to a tv or a second monitor, by then you can see if there is any display at all. If you think the bios is old, you can update it, "maybe it is", just see which bios does match your mainboard and get the latest one you can do it to the chipset too, use somebody laptop or even a smartphone to download the bios and then move over to a bootable USB (google it how to do it). Last week i had a problem with my BIOS from mainboard the cause was a USB3 Device after an BIOS update it recognized immediately and updated the USB3 device drive.

***** it depends, by "reading" your problem it could also be the comon case of bottlenecking which means the PSU that you have doesnt have enough power to run the graphiccard, which PSU do you have?it could also be a problem from the motherboard too i am not sure either.

Well the BIOS electrical piece is in every single GPU card that has a BIOS. The problem is that it can be in different places according the elctrical plan of each card, with Nvidia i have no experience or whatever.

This was for rx 460 -> I was not even able to flash the bios because ATIFlash 4.17 under FreeDos gave me ,,adapter not found,, all the time. 4+5, 1+8, 4+8(!do not brige that), 1+5. I tried all combinations but ATIFlash under Freedos gave me ,,Adapter not found,, every time. The trick for me was to connect 4+5 and go under Windows. Download ATIwinFlash last version. But If I tried to start the program, an error pop up. But not the basic error ,,Cannot detect any ATI card,,. The error was ,,Error trying to read the ROM,,. And I knew that the ROM CHIP was deactivated. Your method worked :). The pins connected with a clip like this was working too ,,i.imgur.com/dlk9uIX.jpg,,. So is not necessary to solder the pins. Now. Because the ROM chip is deactivated, let's repair this GPU once and for all. I used the integrated video card to boot. The bricked card was in the first PCI Express slot (the one closest to the CPU). Before starting to do anything, make sure you are not overclocked. Allright. Boot in windows with integrated video adapter. 1. Download Iobit Uninstaller and uninstall all programs that run in background, all the antiviruse software, any overclocking tools and any drivers. Best is to have a clean install.. 2. Disable the Windows Update Service. 3. Use DDU to completly clean all video drivers from your computer. 4. Use AdwareCleaner and Wise Registery Cleaner and CCleaner to completly clean up your PC. 5.Make sure you restart Now Download ATIWinFlash... So... Every ATIWinFlash come with an AtiFlash that can run under CMD, but not under FreeDos. I opend CMD with admin rights and I did the following: 1. cd /d "D:\Desktop\MODING\atiflash_277" // replace ,,D:\Desktop\MODING\atiflash_277,, with your path.This command is used to navigate to a folder from cmd. 2.AtiFlash -i //To see if the atiflash can detect my GPU. And for me worked only from windows. :). On classic ATIFLash 4.17 under FreeDos didn't work. ,,Adapter not found,,. 3.I searched ,,Asus Dual-RX460-2G support,, on google. After that I went to Specifications, to see what specs my gpu have, to be able to download the correct vbios. After that I went to VGA BIOS collections and I downloaded the correct one. By the way... This is it -> www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/192942/192942. I renamed it to ,,bios.rom,, and place it on atiflash_277 folder. 4.I used a screwdriver to remove the bridge that connected pins 4+5, before flashing. 5.AtiFlash -f -p 0 bios.rom // Wait for flash to finish. 6.Shutdown your PC, and unplug it from the wall. 7.Power on, but now go to bios and change to boot from onboard to PCI EXPRESS. if you mean the electronic piece then its the BIOS j73.img-up.net/xfx-radeonbb2b.jpg if you mean the cable its a simple thin conductive cable that i got from a bricolage shop. The cable connects the pin 1 to the pin 8 in BIOS so that the BIOS will be in a kind of "emulated" for a short time. For the 7970 you must search the BIOS piece, google it or ask an expert in Forums :) because i dont have the card.

This method is Approved but when you tried the 1st time to boot you did not plug the 2 x 8 Pins cables to the GPU 01:12 and in these new ATIflash versions use "-fp" instead of "-f" just in case because it have been a pain in the back when i tried to flash my GPU it

Correct. Demontration purpose. The ATI menu was running from the USB (Boot), not from the GPU, meaning the GPU needed the PCIe slot but not the power which comes from the PSU.

THIS is for rx 460 -> I was not even able to flash the bios because ATIFlash 4.17 under FreeDos gave me ,,adapter not found,, all the time. 4+5, 1+8, 4+8(!do not brige that), 1+5. I tried all combinations but ATIFlash under Freedos gave me ,,Adapter not found,, every time. The trick for me was to connect 4+5 and go under Windows. Download ATIwinFlash last version. But If I tried to start the program, an error pop up. But not the basic error ,,Cannot detect any ATI card,,. The error was ,,Error trying to read the ROM,,. And I knew that the ROM CHIP was deactivated. Your method worked :). The pins connected with a clip like this was working too ,,i.imgur.com/dlk9uIX.jpg,,. So is not necessary to solder the pins. Now. Because the ROM chip is deactivated, let's repair this GPU once and for all. I used the integrated video card to boot. The bricked card was in the first PCI Express slot (the one closest to the CPU). Before starting to do anything, make sure you are not overclocked. Allright. Boot in windows with integrated video adapter. 1. Download Iobit Uninstaller and uninstall all programs that run in background, all the antiviruse software, any overclocking tools and any drivers. Best is to have a clean install.. 2. Disable the Windows Update Service. 3. Use DDU to completly clean all video drivers from your computer. 4. Use AdwareCleaner and Wise Registery Cleaner and CCleaner to completly clean up your PC. 5.Make sure you restart Now Download ATIWinFlash... So... Every ATIWinFlash come with an AtiFlash that can run under CMD, but not under FreeDos. I opend CMD with admin rights and I did the following: 1. cd /d "D:\Desktop\MODING\atiflash_277" // replace ,,D:\Desktop\MODING\atiflash_277,, with your path.This command is used to navigate to a folder from cmd. 2.AtiFlash -i //To see if the atiflash can detect my GPU. And for me worked only from windows. :). On classic ATIFLash 4.17 under FreeDos didn't work. ,,Adapter not found,,. 3.I searched ,,Asus Dual-RX460-2G support,, on google. After that I went to Specifications, to see what specs my gpu have, to be able to download the correct vbios. After that I went to VGA BIOS collections and I downloaded the correct one. By the way... I renamed it to ,,bios.rom,, and place it on atiflash_277 folder. 4.I used a screwdriver to remove the bridge that connected pins 4+5, before flashing. 5.AtiFlash -f -p 0 bios.rom // Wait for flash to finish. 6.Shutdown your PC, and unplug it from the wall. 7.Power on, but now go to bios and change to boot from onboard to PCI EXPRESS. Samiran Dey If windows couldn't accomplished to install the drivers then do it yourself manually, going to the device manager choosing the adapter proprieties and from there update Drivers or simply go to the manufacturer web page and download from there the GPU drivers.

From the bricked card you have no image output, and is not even bootable, you put the bricked card in the second PCIe slot. Now you put a working GPU in the first slot. At the beginning is connected to VGA port of the GPU in first slot the Nvidia 9800 GT, then at the end when I unbricked the card I switched to HDMI port off my XFX 7870 to show that the bricked card is recognized again by the motherboard.

Yes, the video shows you, that with a contact pin 1 to pin 8 (depending on the board), the flashed chip gets into a "suspended" state, which then the flash can be proceeded as the video shows.

I do have experience in assembling and deassembling laptops, and from my point of view, it varies, if you have an AMD HD 7870 and compare to the same model for a laptop with a GPU AMD HD 7870M, the design and the location of an electrical component varies from the GPU. The M at the end of the model name, stands for "mobile" I think. Nvidia has also the letter M for respective notebook/laptops gpu models. I never tried build a computer with an mobile GPU, vice versa also never tried.

works! i have just bricked the Hd6670 by flashing the wrong bios no screen and not bootable even i have a working card and put the dead 6670 on the second slot i soldered the pin 4 and 5 which is SIO and GND it boots, ati flash - AI command scan the card with no vbios then i cut the wire and flash the bios done. Your video is an inspiration. Lol. I think I just bricked my GTX 970 G1 Gaming. Although it has dual bios (with no switch), I manage to corrupt both vbios (I think). The first vbios I think got corrupted when I tried to update my vbios with gigabytes' own vbios updater without disabling the driver. It went black and then the second vbios kicked in as a failsafe and I still didn't know what happened. Now, I tried to flash a custom bios and for some reason it failed. And then after digging in the internet I suspect both vbios are corrupted, first vbios got corrupted when I tried to update my vbios (although at that time I didn;t know that I just corrupted the first one) and then the second, I tried to flash a custom vbios and for some reason it failed. I hope you can help me with this. I know the risks, I just need help. Thanks.

until I decided talk to my teacher, YES I said teacher (He is a real Pro when it comes to electronic pc parts) he suggested me to sold a cable from Pin 1 to Pin8 (Arrow is PIN 1 and on oposite side from it is Pin8) on Bios from my card j73.img-up.net/xfx-radeonbb2b.jpg with that my it would disable chip select and my mainboard would/could recognize the adapter with an UNKNOWN BIOS, so basicly the TAHITI BIOS (wrong flashed BIOS that BRICKED my card) would be ignore. this was all on my description but basicly its a electrical piece that has 8 PINS youl find it most probably 1 or 2

I didn't have another GPU so I was totally dependent on my motherboard's post (Thanks to all the LED's on the motherboard) and luckily I remembered all the steps and commands perfectly so I could get all up and running!

Yes. Otherwise you wont be able to flash. You second is reason for cutting before flash. Through trial and error I found it out.

But Even after Short 1 pin + 8th pin , It always failed with the flash. after few Attempt i notice that my backup rom was 512KB. and R9 270x Bios ussually 128KB rom. So i suspect somebody solder a 512KB BIOS chip onto the card. That is why i am not able to flash the 128kb Original Stock bios. So i Took a OLD graphic card's (HD 6950) BIOS chip Out which is also 128KB BIOS CHIP and put it onto R9 270x Card And it manage to verify and flash success. I do not 100% sure yet all works fine, Since I am waiting to download drivers and check on GPU Z about condition of card. I assume card is modified by someone to avoid the Flashing stock, Probably miners.

@@TugasPT I have no clue who did the chip update. But pretty obvious visually as bios chip is soldered by someone. After checking voltage rails all fine except card fails to detect. This is one of those rare cases that i found on a graphic card. and I though it might be helpful to someone reading those comments. if they have issues with bios flash, this could be 1 reason. I will update the details once card is stress tested later on.

Can not answer that with 100% sure, because I only tried this method with 2 GPU, and those were from AMD HD Series. If you know what you are doing and have the schematic the GPU you want to fix you can try, but if you are going to fail or succeed is up to you.

Did you bought the GPU? Is it new, used, or refurbished? If it is new, how does a bios chip is missing? If it is new, why do you not RMA the GPU to the manufacturer? If it is new, you warranty left, how many years? How did you noticed that the GPU had one Bios Chip less than the usual? Who told you to remove a bios from another card to implement in your r9 290 xfx, where did you get the information? Are you doing this professional or as a hobby? Again I cannot tell where you did a mistake, if you simply think switching bios or adding a second bios is going to bring output. Send me private message again, not comment.

Sorry, doesnt become clear in the video, the sequence of your worksteps is a litttle messy. I read the description though. You are calling -ai for adapternumber and then you turn the pc off right? Afterwards you cut the bridge and THEN, start up again and flash your bios right? Can you give more technical background on when you have to short which pins, or is it just not important? Sometimes it´s 4 and 5, then 1 and 8, ofc I know what a datasheet is, but most of those eeprom soics are identical and therefore the layout is.

Question number one do you have the same GPU model as me? Now to your issue... You turn the computer on, with the soldered bridge on your gpu bios. THEN you prompt with the atiflash a command to recognize the gpu. THEN before overwriting the BIOS you cut the bridge you soldered (DONT SHUT POWER DOWN!) after cutting it, you can now overwrite the BIOS with the expected atiflash command (stated in the video)

Ah okay. The issue is solved now anyway, I got myself a usb eeprom flash stick and some kind of clamp with 8 contacts that fit the soic with the bios on it. I then was abled to read and write on the bios chip without soldering. I even found the parameter on the internet that is necessary to be changed in my rx460 to enable 1024 PUs instead of 896. Now I run it with my modified backup bios and everything works just fine. But thanks for clarifying, maybe you can add the "DONT SHUTDOWN" between steps two and three. Doing mods on the hardware while running will be new to most folks :D But anyway.... After I loaded the new bios and I could get the adapternumber on ATI FLASH windows utility, i still wasnt able to get the adapternumber in the corresponding freedos utility when booting from stick. I found this quite strange.

First check on different cables like VGA HDMI on your monitor, remember to make a DOS bootable disk (an USB disk) to run the AMD software to install/change the BIOS. Liking this video wont change nothing :D i mean follow exactly what i did and in the description there are few links that helped me and can help you to save your card :D if your fan is working that means good, it means that your card is not completly dead and that it can be saved

I use a very small alligator clip and carefully place the clip over the chip to connect pins 1 and 8. After ATI flash sees the card, it is easy to pull the clip off to re-flash with a working BIOS.

Tugas Ari Were you successful with the bios update? Try VBE7 program (on techpowerup's forum) with stock BIOS. It wont unlock valtage control, but you can customize fan profile/voltage etc. with this.

Ye mate I searched first for an Saphire 7870 GPU that it was capable to do Voltage Clock then i tracked the BIOS NR. and matched with the BIOS database of Techforums. Why Spahire? simple mate do you know Trixx Software? The software allows to do Voltage Clock (unlike the MSI it needs an EULA) only if the software recognizes an Saphire GPU, basicly it can recognize any AMD Card but only the ones with an Saphire BIOS can you tweak the Voltage. It worked for me an the XFX 7870 is a beast with the Voltage Clock no wonder they blocked it in the BIOS!

SajtosNokedli Remember my card was "DEAD bricked" the atiflash didnt recognized the BIOS that I put which it was an TAHITI=7900 series (STUPID IDEA) thats why I used the Pin-1-8 soldering method and it worked only after I put the original standard XFX BIOS (that it was before i bricked card) i used the Saphire BIOS and it worked. wanna a screen with the BIOS NR?

Tugas PT No, thanks I believe you:D By the way did you have problems with the stock cooler? Now my card is underclocked from 1.256v to 1.094v, 1000Mhz core clock/ 1250Mhz gpu clock. The idle is 35C (ok), after 10-15mins of furmark ~79-80C in games around 60-70-80C, my fan profile is linear (+1C=+1%). These are not so bad results with the undervolted bios, but many other cards run cooler with lower fan rpm and if I want to overclock in the future, 80%rpm+ fans would be annoying noisy. (sorry for writing here, I cant find PM in this new Youtuble+ crap..)

to be honest i find the stock cooler to loud on max rotation (when Its on gaming mode). I bought as a solution the Accelero Twin Turbo its in the video above ^^ and it does it job pretty good :D

+Thanasislt1997 Yes! The process you saw is made by the mainboard and psu, if I had a PSU with over 1000w it would do the same thing. The mainboard checks if everything is runing smooth and well without any error (Like PSU watts, GPU clocks, CPU clocks, checking if the Fans are working properly) before booting to the ASUS bios screen and then follows the normal OS booting proccess

No dont do that, glue is not an electrical conductor, there for you would ruin the card for good!!! As for the other users with issues I will reply each comment on the next days, I am back after the long break I made.

+CopyCat hot glue does not work as an electrical conductor, you need a soldering kit.

They spin, but not with a high RPM. And GPU did not overheat in this card. By being a "Brick" there is no intention that the GPU works, because there is an BIOS block, after bypassing that the GPU starts to work as well as fans.

-> I was not even able to flash the bios because ATIFlash 4.17 under FreeDos gave me ,,adapter not found,, all the time. 4+5, 1+8, 4+8(!do not brige that), 1+5. I tried all combinations but ATIFlash under Freedos gave me ,,Adapter not found,, every time. The trick for me was to connect 4+5 and go under Windows. Download ATIwinFlash last version. But If I tried to start the program, an error pop up. But not the basic error ,,Cannot detect any ATI card,,. The error was ,,Error trying to read the ROM,,. And I knew that the ROM CHIP was deactivated. Your method worked :). The pins connected with a clip like this was working too ,,i.imgur.com/dlk9uIX.jpg,,. So is not necessary to solder the pins. Now. Because the ROM chip is deactivated, let's repair this GPU once and for all. I used the integrated video card to boot. The bricked card was in the first PCI Express slot (the one closest to the CPU). Before starting to do anything, make sure you are not overclocked. Allright. Boot in windows with integrated video adapter. 1. Download Iobit Uninstaller and uninstall all programs that run in background, all the antiviruse software, any overclocking tools and any drivers. Best is to have a clean install.. 2. Disable the Windows Update Service. 3. Use DDU to completly clean all video drivers from your computer. 4. Use AdwareCleaner and Wise Registery Cleaner and CCleaner to completly clean up your PC. 5.Make sure you restart Now Download ATIWinFlash... So... Every ATIWinFlash come with an AtiFlash that can run under CMD, but not under FreeDos. I opend CMD with admin rights and I did the following: 1. cd /d "D:\Desktop\MODING\atiflash_277" // replace ,,D:\Desktop\MODING\atiflash_277,, with your path.This command is used to navigate to a folder from cmd. 2.AtiFlash -i //To see if the atiflash can detect my GPU. And for me worked only from windows. :). On classic ATIFLash 4.17 under FreeDos didn't work. ,,Adapter not found,,. 3.I searched ,,Asus Dual-RX460-2G support,, on google. After that I went to Specifications, to see what specs my gpu have, to be able to download the correct vbios. After that I went to VGA BIOS collections and I downloaded the correct one. By the way... This is it -> www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/192942/192942. I renamed it to ,,bios.rom,, and place it on atiflash_277 folder. 4.I used a screwdriver to remove the bridge that connected pins 4+5, before flashing. 5.AtiFlash -f -p 0 bios.rom // Wait for flash to finish. 6.Shutdown your PC, and unplug it from the wall. 7.Power on, but now go to bios and change to boot from onboard to PCI EXPRESS. TADAAAAAAA. GPU is working now. Thank you again for this video. I hope I can help someone.

Tugas PT Acho que não preciso de falar inglês consigo, eu também acho que é esse microchip, como essa gráfica não tem dual bios (a XFX retirou, já que as outras 7950's têm) dentro do circulo que indicastes está lá um microchip em falta para a 2nd bios (ao lado direito da que tu indicastes). Foi um amigo meu que tentou flashar para os valores de uma 7970, dá mas não com a rom que ele tentou. Mas como esse chip é diferente como faço para por a BIOS UNKNOWN ? Obrigado pela ajuda btw.

ExtremeGame Tuga para pores a BIOS em modo unknown tens que encontrar a peca BIOS da placa grafica, dps dai descobrir qual deles é o pin1e pin8, dps soldas o cabo de ligacao ou seja fazes uma ponte entre os dois pins (pin1 a pin8) basta seguires o video, a unica coisa diferente é o modelo da grafica e o sitio onde se localiza a peca elctronica BIOS da placa grafica.

But did you learned or not? The command atiflash -p 0 biosname.rom is to call if you have one card. The command atiflash -pa biosname.rom is to call if you have a multiple card setup

The command atiflash -i You use it after the Bios flash to check if it worked or not. Slot 0 = is the first slot. Since in IT (informatics) or in ET (elctrotechnique) we start to count from 0 and not from 1. So slot 0 means the first pci-e slot. Slot 4 means the fifth slot.

Noone complained about the command atiflash -i Due to be a command to use after flashing the card went successful. In the video description are the commands I only used in the video. Furthermore it is obvious since it show when you type in, atiflash - ai the slot which the card is using....
