There will never be enough words that I could say to thank Jared and Adventures with Purpose for what they did not only for me and my family but for a whole community of people who loved my Nana. When all hope felt lost they came in and found closure for me and my family. They showed the upmost respect to our every wish and were willing to come across the country to risk their lives to do what they did. So Jared thank you so much again for everything!! Without yall I would never have found peace after such a tragedy !! What you do is truly the most selfless act one could do. You risked your life for a stranger when you didn't have to. Please everyone donate to Adventures with Purpose if you can. What they are doing is helping so many people find peace and closure when all seems lost. Thank you. I will FOREVER be thankful. And thank you for creating such a beautiful documentary that I know is going to save lives and help people.💚

Jaime, I want you to know that every heartfelt sentiment you've expressed is reciprocated tenfold. I am sincerely grateful that Adventures With Purpose has been able to provide some solace to you and your family in the midst of your profound loss and that you have allowed us to share your Nana's struggles and her story. Losing your Nana, Rochelle, was undoubtedly a tremendous hardship. To endure such an experience is unimaginably difficult, and our deepest sympathies are with you. The love that you and your family have for Rochelle shines through in your every word, and we were incredibly humbled to be able to honor her memory in our search and recovery of her. The Adventures With Purpose, "Purpose", has changed from diving for trash to clean up the environment to what it is now, to provide assistance to those who felt as though all hope was lost. To know that we have achieved that for you and your family is both humbling and empowering. Our work is often challenging and requires great sacrifice, but messages like yours remind us of why we do what we do. It reinforces our mission and gives us the strength to continue our work, despite the difficulties we may encounter. Your words are a testament to the fact that every risk we take, every river we dive into, is worth it if we can bring peace to even one family suffering from the loss of a loved one. The fact that you've taken the time to encourage others to support our mission is so incredibly generous of you for as you know, we step into every mission free of charge. Your strength and resilience, in the face of such adversity, are truly inspiring. It's this kind of selflessness that fuels our mission, and we thank you for spreading the word. The documentary, while created to highlight our work, is most importantly a tribute to the lives of those we've found, like your Nana. It's our hope that this piece will inspire others to take action, save lives, and assist people in finding peace, just as we've been able to do for you, but also allows others to find AWP in the same way your family did, and was able to reach out to us for assistance. Thank you, Jaime. Your enduring appreciation means more than you could possibly know. We will continue to honor your Nana's memory in all that we do, and we hope that you and your family find comfort in the memories of the love you shared with her. With deepest respect, Jared and the Adventures With Purpose Team -- For those who don't know -- Adventures With Purpose (AWP) is an Underwater Search & Recovery Dive Team dedicated to helping families of missing loved ones for FREE. its very sad that in this age of information and ease of communication, we have lost the sense of unity as a society. How much wisdom used to be handed down, from the elderly to the young. lost my grandma two years ago, and its been crazy. One really don't know what one has till its lost. Hope you can find everyday peace and happiness. Don't give up, and don't second guess about calling these loved ones and seeking them out. while you may think its a bother, i promise they will treasure it once you're gone!

That's the issue with modern society. 50-100 years ago many kids, parents, grandparents even great-grandparents lived in one house and often at least one family member was staying at home all the time while the other one was working. But nowadays, due to the horrendous prices for rent and for buying/building a big enough house, it pretty much became impossible to live that way, especially in bigger/more crowded cities.

My grandfather took his own life at 76. When we think of suicide, we think of teens and young adults because “they’re gone too soon.” Even a day before you’re meant to go is too soon. The elderly are the forgotten demographic in this conversation, and it’s heartbreaking.

This is why I'm so grateful my parents moved within a couple miles of me - while they did it to be close to their granddaughter, I am happy they're close so when they're losing their ability to care for themselves, I'm close by. This video means something special to me. I am a U.S. Marine Veteran. Last year, I attempted to end things by swollowing 3 bottles of antidepressants and mood stabilizers while on a hike in the mountains of San Bernardino. I knew the chances of being found was slim. Therefore, my selfishness would never be discovered. I was discovered, and my life would be saved by the San Bernardino Sheriffs Department after I was found. I truly believe that today, I am alive only because of devine intervention. I currently see a therapist through the V.A. I have not been right in the head since my daughter died on the 6th of May 2022. I was allowed no closure. My mother tried to hide her cause of death. Add this to past military trauma, and some may understand why I broke. However, through my failure, I have found a new understanding of life. Thank you for doing what y'all do. You have a voice, use it there are people who care, and would love to help. Ending things is never a good option. Hurting yourself hurts more than you. Don't be selfish like me!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for treating every victim you recover with such kindness. You always ensure their dignity by calling them by name or by their association to their loved one. You never call them as just a “body” you treat the deceased with such respect and compassion. In other words, you bring the human touch that can oftentimes sadly be so lacking. Your compassion and dedication to your cause is admirable. I hope you’re feeling better now.

Also, rest in peace Rochelle. Thank you for drawing attention to the despairing state of our elderly. I used to work for years in geriatrics, and eventually, I had to walk away, because my heart couldn't take the heartbreak anymore. So many elders are desperate for company and to just talk with another human being to make it feel like they're still living and it's still worth living. Than you so much for taking the time to talk about the mental health crisis among our elderly population.

And the amount of times i got in trouble for just taking a few extra minutes to let them talk. I had to leave that job. The heartbreaks and loneliness in their voice. I just can't do it and I tell you our govt foes not give a single f*** about our elderly. I think what breaks me in these videos that I’m use to police calling the victims “the body” and here they always call them by their name, as if they haven’t left us. It makes it feel so much more personal and I can’t help but cry
@Databyter Жыл бұрын
To be fair, police usually do use more sensitivity when dealing with families. As an ex Firefighter we focussed on the job and our training, and although we tried to be sensitive to some humanity we had to turn humanity off at times to do the very difficult tasks that we sometimes were faced with. We can't personalize every single death and accident victim and function at our task. We think about it later, and then let it go. When dealing with families, tht contact is usually much more sensitive. It is the nature of documentaries that you catch professional rescue or recovery lingo that is not intended for the family. Of course I agree that AWP is stellar, but lets not sell other divers and LEO's short. A;lmost everyone does their best to respect the sensitivity of a family losing a loved one.

@@EllieDaisy I never said it did? It highlighted their compassion
@Sakine-animate Жыл бұрын
@@Databyter oh of course! No I understand why they do that, I was just saying the fact that they do use their names is what causes me to cry in these videos. Not trying to downplay any of rescuers at all. This just hits different because of how personal they make it.
@rileysmith7367 Жыл бұрын
Part of it is a 100% the fact that they don’t want to get too attached every case. These jobs are taxing emotionally and for police who see it day in and day out, they need to be able to separate themselves from their cases or else they would never be able to do their jobs and would have crippling mental health issues beyond what they probably already do due to the level of trauma this job has.
@LeeLeeCRN Жыл бұрын
@@DatabyterI really love how u put this. As an RN I worked in the ER n trauma 1 for almost 9.5 yrs. My hospital was one of the top level one trauma centers in my region so we got transfers n life flight patients from all over..even out of state at times.ive seen n cared for some of the worst. I now I do hospice part time which we all know is end of life care. Everything u said is exactly on point n applies to anyone that deals with tragic situations n death in their careers. Many staff members have shed tears for patients but never in the open n especially not around the families. But as professionals we've also learned to quickly let it go. If u don't separate your emotions from the actual task at hand u will never last in these kind of jobs. Thx for your bravery n service as a firefighter.😊

I was a police officer for 18 years. I have been involved in many sudden death investigations. It’s not always easy to do this job. In my patrol area we have volunteer firefighters. I have high praises for them. I can’t count how many times they were there to provide their assistance. These volunteers are farmers, warehouse workers, accountants, etc. yet, they have chosen to donate their free time and continue to do so even after witnessing the end of life. You are part of that group of people that are selfless with their time and energy. Thank you

I'm 32 years old and at least 3 times a week I visit my grandma for a coffee, just for a quick talk. I mean she raised me when my mom passed and she was always strong when grandpa passed. It sickens me that people out there just throw the old people away like garbage. Those guys built the foundation we are building our world on. SHOW SOME RESPECT. I know older people sometimes have "weird" views or maybe talk "weird" sometimes, but REMEMBER: your grandchildren will think that of you as well. So, if you don't want to be thrown away later on, then EARN IT TODAY. Visit your grandparents TODAY. Not tomorrow, TODAY. Earn it.

Many times, these smaller towns or counties just don't have the funding to pay for specialized divers and extraction equipment. I haven't looked in a while, but I remember it being extremely costly. That's why this work is so important.

It is because the Mississippi is a beast. Many people who enter the river will never be found. The current is strong and tricky and there is many debris that can kill, trap or injure you. And the deepth is dangerous. Diving deeper than 40 feet is highly dangerous (and yes, I know the car sat at 60 feet). At the time grandma drove into the river the water was 40 feet higher than now (he said that it went from 70 to 30). So the current was way more powerful than any diver could survive. And the temperature could kill you, too. Sometimes there is just no possibility to get the bodies out in a timely manner. There are quite a few hellish rivers all over the world and the Mississippi plays in the professional ranks.
