Tears of the Kingdom, The sequel to Breath of the Wild is one of the biggest mysteries in gaming today, especially considering the unanswered questions surrounding the iconic Master Sword and the holy relic that unites the series, the Triforce.
But this mystery may be about to be blown wide open, thanks largely to a clue from series Producer Eiji Auonuma and his latest update on 29 March 2022. Fair warning - this is only a theory, and potentially one of the craziest to date. But it just might be crazy enough to be true, and I’ve got the evidence that’s sure to get you wondering about not only the details surrounding the Triforce in the Breath of the Wild sequel, but what the implications could mean for the game and series moving forward. This one could be a game-changer!
This find comes courtesy of research on another theory that’s extending to a whole series unto itself, and it’s for this reason, I’m confident we either have a major find on our hands, or one heck of an Easter Egg. Either way, I’m EXTREMELY excited to share this with you, and I’d love to hear your thoughts. For the beloved tribe who have joined up to the channel, this one is for you, and I hope it will go a long way to keeping your dreams and creativity alive with all the amazing ideas you’ve been kind enough to share. I continue to be amazed at your passion, warmth, and overall generosity of spirit. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for all your support.
There’s plenty more to come, so stay tuned. Keep being amazing and thanks so much for choosing to spend your valuable time with us here at GameSmiths.
Until next time, stay safe and have a good one.

CHALLENGE - THERE HAS TO BE A MUCH BETTER NAME THAN TRI-TIMELINE TRIFORCE THEORY, SO LET ME KNOW YOUR SUGGESTION.

As I was watching the video, I honestly thought that maybe all 3 timelines merged at some point since over 10,000 years has passed in BOTW. It’s a small thought but I think I like that idea. For all we know, there could’ve been a Link against time again to save Hyrule. But another theory I have is that maybe it’s likely that everything in all three timelines happens regardless of what timeline in falls on simply because we don’t know how many years has passed. The likelihood of all those events from each timeline happening before Breath of The Wild where maybe billions of years has passed is higher than you think. But those are my two cents, great theory ^^
@gamesmiths
@gamesmiths 2 жыл бұрын
Sweet handle "Badtothebunny" - love it. I was actually wondering that myself in relation to them merging and I guess in the way it's all been set up perfectly allows fans to come up with their own interpretation of events and how BOTW came to be. In that way, no-one is wrong, and I feel that was a smart decision from the team at Nintendo. This theory was something I hadn't considered and the trigger started from thinking about if they had merged, when could that have happened. But then realising the fate of the Triforce was not the same, based on what we have to hand and as far as I can tell, it really left it open. In that way, I thought you could potentially have 3 x Triforces which is super crazy (at least I thought). Then I was reviewing that short part in the trailer, looked at the pattern and...well you know the rest. I guess my point is that my favourite thing about 'Zelda' is actually the awesome ideas you can generate with the elements of mystery still there, so in my mind, no thought is "small" and I love your ideas. Thanks for sharing and keep being amazing. I make these videos for people like you and me, so your 2 cents is worth more than you know ;)

Love the theory. Going off what you said, I think the child timeline should be called the shattered timeline since the triforce is not unified at the end of it. That I think would mean at least to me that the Ganon we see in breath of the wild 2 is from this timeline, and that the triforce of power only put Ganon in a state of hibernation much like link was in breath of the wild. I also believe that the reason we find Ganon sealed the way we do is because he had at some point before breath of the wild revived and tried to take over again or tried to find the other pieces but was to weak and was easily defeated then sealed away by either the Zonai or descendants of the sages.

Shattered Timeline sounds FRIKKIN amazing! You have my vote on that for sure. The Ganon from that Timeline is just a pure badass - standing there with a stomach full of Master Sword in the Twilight - you can't help but be impressed with that. The thing is the way Nintendo left the timelines and BOTW open to imagination allows for this kind of creativity and frankly, I love it. Great idea and look forward to hearing more in the future. What if, after 10,000 years, the gods forcibly combined all the timelines together. It would explain why there are features, items and places from all timeliness but not quite where they should be (the temple of time/ mirror of twilight). It would also explain why both the Rito and the Zora inhabit this world where previously the Rito were only seen in the adult timeline. This could open an opportunity to see the ultimate versions of each character too (link, zelda, gannondorf) as they could learn/ use techniques and powers from their past lives via memories similar to twilight princess. Idk, I think its a cool concept that wouldn't actually be too much of a stretch. Plus the idea of using the knowledge of the past to save the future Is badass.

It was also never confirmed that BotW sat at the end of "all three" timelines--only that it existed "after Ocarina" and "at the end". Aonuma and Fujibayashi tells us that which of the timelines in particular was "up to the player's imagination". Hence why BotW exists "at the end", regardless of which timeline you look at on the Japanese website: it isn't attached to any one timeline, nor any of them for that matter.

Like this theory a lot too. I have mentioned on other videos that the “tears”, if they turn out to be more literal, could have something to do with meeting and gaining energy from previous heroes / heroes from different timelines. I think in one way or another or to some degree or another we’ll have that. Even before seeing your video just now, I had a similar theory, though yours is likely better considering Nintendo has confirmed that TotK will unite the timelines! My theory on the multiple triforce symbols on the toga was that it is depicting 4 separate symbols overlapping one another slightly. Why 4? In the recovered memory from Breath of the Wild that deals with Link’s knighting ceremony, Zelda confirms that the Master Sword that BotW Link will wield is one and the same as the Master Sword from Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess. She says “Hero of Hyrule... Chosen by The Sword That Seals the Darkness. You have shown unflinching bravery and skill in the face of darkness and adversity. And have proven yourself worthy of the Blessings of The Goddess Hylia. Whether Skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight, The sacred blade is forever bound to the soul of the hero.” Original Hero (SS) Hero of Time (OoT) Hero of Twilight (TP) Hero of the Wild (BotW/TotK) Though each incarnation did not inherit all three parts, a full triforce could still be used to represent each. Also, we’ve already seen the Hero of Twilight learn combat skills from a prior incarnation (Hero of Time in TP) so I feel like they will at LEAST have us revisit the three mentioned in this comment somehow.
@gamesmiths

Thanks for another interesting and thought provoking comment! I completely agree that Zelda’s speech in the ceremony has greater significance and your application to the theory is nothing short of brilliant. It makes me wonder about something though relevant to a current theory I’m working on so if you don’t mind I might reference this in that video depending on how it unfolds with what I already need to cover. For the application, I’d be considering the Hero of the Wild to be a cumulating of the other 3 as opposed to a separation if that makes sense. Either way - excellent theory and really appreciate your time and effort again. All the best 💚🌟

Hi GriffinSentinel - that’s a good point and one I didn’t cover in this video. The Lorule Triforce is interesting in that it was brought back into existence by a wish on a Hylian Triforce and debate remains as to whether this dimension is treated separately due to the timeline split or not. Either way, it’s a great call-out and one I want to cover off in a future theory as it also touches on the realms of Hyrule that I believe come into play in TOTK. Thanks for the comment and it’s certainly something to address. In terms of the symbology on the tunic, I’m inclined to think it is represented in the “Tetraforce” - which is a much larger topic but one fans have speculated on for ages - the 4th triangle present in the Triforce that is a gap in the larger shape, but one that could represent a major point in the series if it comes into play. In my own opinion, Lorule represented in the Tetraforce makes a whole heap of sense being an opposite type dimension - so in the 9 Triforce pieces, Lorules Triforce would be the negative space around the main 3 in the middle that remain separated due to the timeline split. It’s a personal perspective so completely expect most will disagree but hoping to put more around that idea in a future theory. Thanks for the comment and all the best 💚💫🌟

My own theory is that the official timeline is misleading in premise. They are not so much 3 timelines but a single reality fractured into 3 pieces, one for each wielder of the Triforce, literal fragments of creation. The downfall timeline is the Power reality where Ganon got his wish and won for a time. The adult timeline is actually the wisdom reality which would also suffer the consequences of divine will over everything laying in the fallible wisdom of a mortal, in this case Zelda. Lastly the child timeline is the courage reality, doomed by the same sort of strength of character and conviction logic as found in shonen and marvel comics, hence why Ganondorf can stubbornly defy death to maintain his grip on the world. BotW taking place in and resembling all of them makes sense if you think of them as 3 abstractions of the same whole. A good and appropriate analogy would be to stand in front of a broken mirror. The reflections are distorted and at different angles, but they still share the same inevitable view.
@gamesmiths
@gamesmiths 2 жыл бұрын
So I need to be 100% honest with this comment - you’ve broken down one of my own theories planned for a future video - but explained perfectly and the visual representation of the fractured mirror was nothing short of perfection. You have a gift and I think your take just wraps it up so well that it should be in a video. I’m humbled by the support and creativity by this community so often, and this is a perfect example of brilliance that inspires me to work harder in providing well thought out ideas that are both interesting and entertaining. Words won’t cut it, but i hope in some way this reply will acknowledge just how great your theory is. You’ve got a fan in me for life!
@TheWiseMountainGoat
@TheWiseMountainGoat 2 жыл бұрын
@@gamesmiths my evidence goes much deeper, but I had to keep my post a reasonable size. Ganondorf is his wisest and most self aware in the wisdom arc or reality. Wisdom also is the only one that sees conventional technology progress. Power features some of the most OP enemies and versions of Link while suffering Ganon the most. Courage even has Link defying the reincarnation in order to train his successor, something only done one other time if you count the old man theory for LBW as canon. I could keep going. BotW is inevitable because just like a broken mirror, the end results are the same, just from different perspectives, and it's possible BotW2 will end with reality being put back together

What if the timelines had been merging for a long time before Breath of the Wild? I’m going to preface this theory by saying that it does rely heavily on capt burgersons dragonbreak theory, hopefully you are familiar with it. The Zelda timeline has a lot of inconsistencies, but I think that without changing the order of any game I have fixed most of the issues without changing the order of the games. In the downfall timeline between triforce heroes and Zelda 1 the triforce is used by the royals of Hyrule. We don’t know why it was used; however, I believe that it could have been used to unite the three timelines. This would explain why near the end of the timeline branches more lore inconsistenties happen, like Hyrule being an island in 4sa and Zelda 2 could be because the great sea had started to bleed over into the other timelines before they fully merged. This would also explain why the helmorock king is in 4sa. If I was to make a KZbin video about this I could probably come up with more evidence for Here’s a timeline theory of mine

Thanks for watching. Speaking in terms of the Timelines, one thing I have wondered for a while is the role of New Hyrule in the timeline equations. A little left field, but there's every possibility that New Hyrule is the basis for the BOTW Hyrule and could then explain a lot of the inconsistencies we see. I highly doubt this is the case, but fun to think about for sure ;)

I like your theory, its insanely solid, something that most theories doesnt do. Mine is: Breath of the Wild is placed at the start of all, before Ocarina of Time and even Skyward Sword. Thats because we see things that are inside all timelines (like lynels, Goron, etc). When something (not in BotW and maybe neither in the secuel) goes wrong when Ganon attacks and, like we see at Skyward Sword s beginning, Hylia takes everyone remaining to the Skyloft Island. Meanwhile the Hyrule kingdom like we see it in Breath of the Wild changes to how it is shown in Skyward Sword. My theory falls down with many facts, like the lost temple in Breath of the Wild. Anyway great video, hope you make more like this one in the future

Nice video and interesting theory. Really liked the connection in Zeldas speech. A question why are there 3 timeline in the first place? Link beats Ganon in oot and get sent back in time. Therefore there is no adult Link in the future and there is no ending where Link dies? Otherwise we would have a fallen timeline split at every ending of a Zelda game. Hi mbris m, thanks for watching and your comment. To answer your question, the timeline split comes from the official word from Nintendo and has had different iterations stemming back from before the release of Skyward Sword way back in 2011. I’m oversimplifying, but up until that point fans had speculated that all the Zelda games might somehow be connected but it was never official outside of references to other titles in game. With the publication of the timeline and the split at the end of ocarina, it put some sense behind the different states of Hyrule and the greater realms but also caused some confusion amongst fans as well. A re edit in 2018 with the Zelda Encyclopedia caused some more debate and, to cut a long story short, the timeline and how it works can be a pretty controversial topic in the community. As you point out, Link can technically die in any game and time travel occurs in other titles - there are reasons why Ocarina is considered slightly different, but I completely get why it doesn’t make sense to most people. Indeed, Nintendos approach with BOTW was to specifically leave it open ended and up to the players imagination which I personally think allows the player to make the connections themselves to prior games without alienating any one idea or theory. Overall, it remains one of the more complicated topics in gaming and I hope this answer goes some way to both acknowledging your perspective whilst explaining briefly the history behind the timeline split. All the best 💚💫

Remember in Hyrule Warriors, Cia connects the three timelines together, and Link is appointed a BLUE SCARF with the exact design as the CHAMPIONS TUNIC. This explains the Ritos, Zora, various landmarks from the different timelines, and armor from all timelines, along with weapons all in the same place/time.

A great point which MatPat covered in Game Theory which was a great watch and well worth checking out. The response to that video from Nintendo Black Crisis was great as well - 2 great creators and well worth checking out for sure. Both Hyrule Warriors games do a really good job of providing a well thought out story that makes it so much fun to play the game, and I agree the blue scarf is a ringer for what we see in the Champions Tunic. In some ways, maybe it was a precursor Easter Egg, and a nod to the work the team did on the game (at least in my whacky imagination, I'd like to think that's what happened). It may not be a popular opinion from some, but I loved Hyrule Warriors and story - It felt like fan fiction come to life and when Patricia hit the screen, I had the fist in the air in salute. You gotta love that entrance from the baddest Sand Seal this side of the Gerudo desert.

this would not be the first mention of another Triforce , Lorule had an upside down Triforce what if the merging of timelines has happened long ago and that Master Sword was from a timeline where something happened to the og like Zelda sent Link back in time with it removing it from her timeline so another was forged to replace it that was infreior and that is the BOTW master sword , so now the timelines merged another master sword around is the OG from Skyloft , or the Upgraded Golden Master Sword from the other timeline

Hmm this is a tricky one. From my understanding, there can only be one Triforce in existent the peace of courage that Link had when being send to the past shattered to prevent there being two Courage. But since that Link had bean worthy of it the past Courage broke off causing the triforce the separate unexpectantly. Either that of the pieces Swap places but I assume Adult one shattered because of that event. I short The triforce seem to go out of it's way to make sure only one if it self exist. At first my thought was may referencing the shattered pieces but that was only 8. I for one feel that a merger doesn't seem quite right. ummm might be something completely new.

Thanks Andrew - some interesting points there in how you work through the logic. You may be onto something - we don’t know when each point in time takes place relative to the other and as in two of the timelines we see the Triforce reunited but the essentially disappear - where does it disappear to? I’m pretty certain we are going to see the Triforce make an appearance even indirectly in TOTK so it should be interesting to see which way that plays out. I was mentioned! Haha, I was mentioned. My friend, this was truly epic. If this is true, in either direction mentioned, we are in for a truly epic adventure of epic proportion. I wonder what goddess best represents each timeline? As their are three split, and three golden goddess, could they, and they respective peaces of the triforce in part be what aloud the split, as they chose individual scenarios to watch happen given their chosen individuals? If the Golden goddess had more intervention in the use and protection of the triforce than previously mentioned, this could be them bringing it back together after realizing that inspite of separating the time lines, the same scenario happens no mater what. As long as the blood of the goddess, and the spirit of the hero unite, the hatred of demise can never advance. This also gives the triforce more agency in its own destiny for a reason, it is in toon with, or is spiritually connected with the Goddess's themselves. So, there is something new to naw on.
@darthazgorath9570
@darthazgorath9570 2 жыл бұрын
This theory is somewhat confirmed in Wind Waker, as it was the goddesses that flooded Hyrule by choice. I would say that the fallen timeline is the timeline of courage as link's spirit has to rise from true defeat to face Gannon and then becomes the most powerful version of himself across the splits. The child timeline is the timeline of power. Gannon makes his largest power play here, and we see the triforce of power intervention in the "devine prank" And the adult timeline is the timeline of wisdom. It's literally called the adult timeline, and in here we see some of the most logical steps twords trying to achieve peace when they figure out that the curse is most likely bound to high rule, and they simply just need to trap Ganon and get out of dodge. Yet, in all three, as i stated, the blood of the goddess and spirit of the hero are united against Gannon, now, he is the only thing that truly hasn't reincarnated, as he remains his memory's as the other 2 lose theirs. Again, just a thought.

Haha! I was waiting to see if you would pick up the mention. I had your comment and a few others from people who were kind enough to leave their dreams and hopes on the thread, so developing a theory that could make any reality a possibility became a bit of a goal. In the brief time we have until we actually know more, there's a tangible reason for anyone's idea to be a reality, even if we all know the one scenario we think up likely won't be what we ultimately see. But that's not the point, and the fact you whipped out the word epic 3 times in one sentence tells me 2 things - firstly I am wrapped you appreciated the call out (because the idea of 3 x Ganon's IS epic), and secondly, saying epic 3 times may have invoked the Goddesses in your favour my friend (fingers crossed anyway!). Personally, if the outcome is nothing like the theory proposes, at the very least, it's a super sweet Easter Egg of how it could be and a way to let people imagine! Oh, and don't worry, I havent forgotten our last thread. I'm working on some stuff in the background as well as swamped in my "real" job, but if it's still cool with you, I'll reach out when I've had a chance to decide on next steps. My headcanon is as follows: If it has been such a long time that all the other games have been lost to history, then perhaps the Triforce could have influenced things during that time such that no matter what timeline it was, it all eventually lead to the same events: BOTW. In that sense, BOTW could actually be a re-unification of the timeline. Unless a multiverse was created, one universe for each timeline, in which case perhaps divine intervention by the Triforce and/or by the Goddesses could have merged it all back together.

@@gamesmiths I believe that the first wish made upon the Triforce, the wish for the destruction of Demise, hasn't finished yet. I think the entire Zelda series hinges on that one wish. The wish is why it brought Link down to the surface instead of JUST destroying the Imprisoned - it knew Demise would be revived in the past. The wish is why Link and Zelda keep being reincarnated - because Demise's curse causes him to be reincarnated over and over again as Ganondorf and Ganon, the Triforce is reincarnating Link and Zelda whenever Ganondorf reincarnates or comes to power or appears in Hyrule. I believe the Triforce's ultimate goal to fulfill the wish is to have the curse of Demise be broken. That's why it's influenced the events of the games the way it has, and why it's influenced the events in between games the way it has. The timelines have to be re-converged because that's the only path towards breaking the curse. All of its actions and influences have been with the main goal of working towards breaking the curse and destroying Ganondorf. There are limitations. For example, the Triforce of Power, when the Triforce is separated, HAS to go to Ganondorf because it is he who embodies power the most. And it can't just give Link multiple wishes because except for in Skyward Sword, he doesn't have a perfect balance of Courage, Wisdom, and Power. Despite this, it is doing what is necessary to get Demise's curse broken. It's basically playing a million-year 5D Xantos Chess game to be able to fulfill Link's original wish.

I have a video in the works I think you might appreciate - it has some aspects akin to what you are talking about although a few select differences. The way I plan to deliver it is less of a theory basis and more like a narrative so I’m a little nervous on how it will be received and guarantee it will be controversial, but I’m excited about the idea and your theory further cements my hopes that others are also willing to be open minded about a different perspective. Great work, I thoroughly enjoyed it and it’s a great theory. I really want to say more on specifics you mention, but if you don’t mind waiting a while, we can pick this concept back up. Hi RathDragonfang, a great point brought up by a few others in the comments too and one I should have addressed in this video. It’s a hard one to answer in the comments but there’s a few ways the Lorulean Triforce can be viewed. One aspect is the missing fourth or Tetraforce theory (ie the triangle in the middle of the Triforce) which makes a lot of sense in that it’s not physically there but does exist in another realm which I find quite intriguing. I dont think this is crazy at all! This has been (ya know, more or less lol) my theory since I played BOTW. BOTW isn't a game in a "Merged" timeline. Its a game taking place during the merging. Its an ongoing process. It was the dual wishes of Link in Adventures of Link and Daphnes at the end (more or less) of their respective timelines that sealed it for me. To fix Hyrule, in the eyes of the Goddesses, the timeline split needs to be repaired. I think the dragons are magically reforming the landscape. Forming the lakes, canyons rivers and mountains. Literally bringing the three worlds together into one. You get Mega Death Mountain. You get Link to the Past Zora, OOT Zora, and even The Rito all in one place. Sheika structures are there to prevent this (slow from a human perspective but extremely rapid from a geological perspective) shift from destroying peoples homes. And naturally, merged worlds means Super Ganondorf. And he has a Triforce piece. Which is going to prevent the triforces from merging. If we had to collect all of the triforce pieces, it would be 8 pieces and Ganon like the original Legend of Zelda. Just saying.

A great question and something raised by a few people. It’s something I didn’t touch on in the video and I’ll own that as something I really should have covered off. Being that the Lorule Triforce was born out of the wish made on Hyrule’s Triforce, it could be argued that they are 2 sides of the same coin, albeit in different worlds. But that’s just one version, and it could play a larger role than that. Good pickup, thanks for the comment 👍

@@gamesmiths well I think an incredibly important question to answer for this theory is "exactly how many instances are there of different triforces" assuming your theory it's a minimum of 4 including lowrule. Especially since in mm there's imagery of the triforce around stone tower temple Edit: the lowrule triforce was repaired by a wish, but it existed beforehand

Hyrule Encyclopedia was the source for the Triforce whereabouts - p 10 Timeline and following this, the section specific to the Triforce and outcomes in all timelines. It does cover all games prior to BOTW, so as far as anything endorsed from Nintendo, this provided the basis of the theory. As far as the Triforce symbolism in mm - there’s quite a few theories about that. One of the front runners is that it’s a mockery of sorts, but as assets were not reused from OoT, it can be argued there’s more to it. Interesting!

Thanks for your comment. A link to the past occurring in the Fallen Timeline is right after OoT - A link between worlds occurs in the same Timeline and ultimately the Fallen Timeline leads to The Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link where the Triforce is reunited. As for the Lorule Triforce, it’s a great call out. My reference point was Hyrule Encyclopedia which shows the Triforce throughout time and does not address the Lorule Triforce in the sequence which may be due to its inherent connection to the Triforce in Hyrule used to wish it back into existence. Debatable of course, but hope that answers your question. Have a great day 👍

BOTW is in the Fallen Timeline because it is a bit like a remake of the original.. there isn’t a mention of the triforce like the original and it’s post apocalyptic like a lot of the fallen timeline games (except like ages/seasons) If cannon: Age of Calamity is in the Child Timeline because it features time travel and makes more sense than the adult. The next Zelda Game (BOTW2?) whatever it’s called is in the Adult Timeline because at the end of windwaker, Ganondorf is set to stone and sealed under water by the triforce. And he returns in the trailers. If this hypothesis holds up I believe the Trilogy are meant to be the same game and the same universe all canon and all at the end of their respective timelines not yet reuniting the timeline but because of time travel shows how each timeline is affected by the interplay of time travel.

I can see your point re: the Fallen Timeline and in many ways, I could see a fit there. But I'd be lying if I didn't wonder about the options of the other timelines, all of them, none of them or, dare I say it, the X factor of something new on the table that changes everything we know. The time travel mechanic is an interesting element that seems to have different rules depending on direction, interpretation and most likely, where the team want to take the series. There's no doubt the producers and directors have had to apply some retrofit to what we now see and stipulate they hope fans will be forgiving in the discrepancies. I can only speak for me, and I'm cool with that. Coming back to your comment though, I'm sold with that idea because somehow being able to address a history and future with narrative would be jaw dropping. @@diamondmemer9754 Ok, so I'll add my small contribution to that very well thought out theory. The blood moon. It does not fit a pattern (Chaotic and dependant on factors including how many enemies killed), is pretty darn important in Majoras Mask....and last but not least, the Lunar Children from Majoras Mask are some of the creepiest encounters in the series...that doesn't specifically help the theory, but they are super creepy...and it can't hurt to consider their relationship to Skull Kid. That's without going into the whole Termina thing and wondering what happened AFTER Link rode off into the Forest Sunset and the Happy Mask Salesman took his weirdness somewhere else. Cool theory - I really like it. I swear I'm going to end up doing fan fiction some day just because this kind of stuff screams awesomeness.

Fantastic theory video Smiths. If you are interested into the Japanese lore of the zelda games, then I recommend you to check out a Channel called QuestWithAaron! He's another one of those zelda youtuber who makes some interesting videos of how in-depth the Japanese Versions are compared to English. His videos showcase how the original Japanese Words/Texts are far more descriptive due to them having a underlying meaning that doesn't exist in English and in my opinion the original JP versions are a lot more faithful and tells the narrative of how these games are supposed to be told more so than english!

@@gamesmiths So this was... My initial comment: Re: The tri-Triforce symbology you've pointed out, it appears we've seen this before in the original MM (deleted off the 3DS version) (Insert “Eye-Jee” link here, you can see it in my channel or just Google the image) I believe it symbolises the Triforce of Courage being separated from Wisdom & Power, while Link was in Termina. Similarly, by TP's logic, Power may have remained separated(still dormant within Ganondorf), which eventually brought about the emergence of Calamity Ganon (FSA being a side-story and a different Ganondorf, altogether). What I find strange about the commentary re: Triforce of Power laying dormant in Ganon/dorf, is that in the ending of TP, not only does Ganondorf not resurrect - following Zant's neck snap - is that at the very end, the Triple Goddess statue, with the 3 pieces of the Triforce unified, are focused on. Then in BOTW we get a snapshot of the Triforce when Zelda uses her awakened powers to obliterate Ganon. Not to mention through FSA's development, Miyamoto uncomplicated the plot, by changing the "Triforce" into the "Trident", to not interfere with the events of the Imprisoning War(which since HH, we know is definitely OOT's events). Therefore, I feel like this TP knowledge about the ToP laying dormant within Ganondorf, may be a retcon, with the symbology abs Link's tunic being a nod to the player, as a decorative Easter egg, much like the dormant MM hanging on his wall in ALBW. What I find strange about the Child Timeline is that if the ‘Triforce of Power laying dormant within a dead Ganondorf is true, maybe in the Child timeline, the 3 pieces are (retconned) to never be unified, due to the alteration made to the original timeline, via the Timeline split, instigated by Zelda, to allow the Hero of Time to regain his childhood… (Perhaps the ‘Triforce’ we saw Zelda use in BOTW were simply the 3 sacred flames (held by the Dragons) which she needed to awaken within herself, in order to be able to vanquish Ganon). Perhaps this is also why the theme around everything to do with Link; the arm, the tunic, the energy(similar to the luminous stones) etc are green/ emerald in colour(Triforce of Courage), whereas Malice itself and what appears to emanate from Calamity Ganon/ Ganondorf and what constitutes Malice, is accordingly coloured red(Triforce of Power), while the Shiekah technology-related themes and magical torches etc are coloured blue (Triforce of Wisdom).

@@ausgamecollector Really interesting, I can see how it might be construed similar or different - one of the best things with Zelda is the grey areas open to interpretation which is great for bringing people together to discuss ideas. My take on it, as simple as it sounds now, is that it opened up possibilities that I hadn't considered as potentially viable - and in that way there really was room for any idea to be an option. From a purist standpoint, that probably smacks of non-canon rhetoric, and I'd pay that to a degree. The interesting part about the timeframe we have now is that, until we know any better or worse, possibilities exist. Like TGL Mudora raised - it could be any timeline, it could be none of them at all, and the developers wanted to leave it to the imagination of the player - and for me, as whacky and crazy as it sounds, that suddenly came together with that image, and the metaphorical alignment was to the 3 in their own right struck me as either one heck of a coincident, a cleverly designed Easter Egg, or a nod to suggest something much bigger. Couple that with the way the Triforce "ends up" so to speak as far as we know in the Timelines, and suddenly you've solved what I think is one of the more challenging aspects for the long-term fanbase - a way to reconcile the timelines once and for all, but do it in a way that means everyone is right, and no one is wrong. There's every chance that's my own interpretation, and that's the only way I could explain it, it's my imagination of how it would play out - a solution that respects the massive compilations of effort people have put in to their reasoning without shutting anything down, nor any retcons. Done with the type of aplomb I think Nintendo can do, and they could leave room in that mid-space to tell more stories within any universe, timeline or iteration. In that way, the answers to your well placed questions would lie in the way that would be approached in the sequel. I can say I have at least a few ideas that could be equally viable in my head, and already, some amazingly creative people like yourself have run with scenarios that are compelling. It really makes me appreciate the wealth of knowledge within the community, and humbled to be a part of it. Great stuff!

@@gamesmiths I understand you have to find topics for your videos. I'm not criticizing you for that. Content is content, and at least you went into it open to the fact that this was just speculation without much merit. But something I think we often forget about is how art design often works in video games. The art is done to look cool first and foremost. Stylistic depictions aren't always done for some express lore or story purpose, sometimes it's just that some guy in a studio thought this specific pattern looks particularly neat. It's hard to design clothing trim that doesn't use a repeating pattern, for instance, if you want it to be up-down symmetrical rather than just left-right symmetrical. But if you need topics to cover, how about you cover this? I saw some suggestions in another KZbin comment on another channel, that some people want a shakeup in the story. They seem bored of the repetitive nature of Demise's Curse coming back to cause a new disaster. It brings to question some really interesting points about the basic foundations of the Zelda universe: The interplay between three recurring characters. Zelda's (Hylia's) descendants, the reincarnations of Link, and the reincarnation of Demise (Ganon). This fits the setting so well. Not only does the rule of threes make sense for an epic fantasy, but it gives reasons to keep coming back. I made the point that if Ganon were ever TRULY sealed away, or destroyed, Link would no longer have an express purpose within Hyrule, he would no longer be reincarnated as a hero each time evil returns to the land. Villains such as Vaati did not require the divine intervention of the hero of the Goddesses to defeat. Neither did Majora. Ganon requires someone to wield the triforce, ultimately, to oppose him for good. That is the purpose of Link, and Zelda is always there to balance Link's potentially reckless courage with her wisdom and guidance, be it in person (OOT, WW, SS, TP) or spiritual (Spirit Tracks, BOTW). They require one another because alone they are too weak. Ganon requires them because he cannot acquire the entire triforce without their unwitting aid each time he tries to acquire it; It rejects him and leaves him with Power only. Link and Zelda must brig him the other two pieces. These are three balancing acts that work wonderfully, and so that is why with the exception of Majora, no other villain is truly as compelling as the man who follows you through the ages to terrorize your descendants. He is a constant threat. You can have a temporary relief from Ganon, but he's always there in the corner, waiting for the next opportunity. When he is TRULY defeated, the series is done. Link is done. Zelda will have her descendants still, but they will know mostly only peace, never facing such trials that would make a game interesting. I think it would be a terrible mistake to simply 'shake things up' for the sake of making things feel 'new' or 'fresh'. Ending the Curse of Demise ends the setting. What WOULD be interesting is if we could explore other places. We know there are other kingdoms, bordering Hyrule. Other landmasses. Holodrum, Termina, and so on. Give us an adventure where we must save Lorule again. See how Termina survived the Great Flood and Calamity (if it did at all), if it even had an impact there. What about Holodrum? It's across the sea, isn't it? The Zelda series always tries to do these time skips to change the setting, to another version of Hyrule and I ultimately think this is unnecessary.

Firstly - what a well thought out comment, thank you. I’m response to your view on the clothing, I don’t disagree entirely, but sometimes the small details are more than stylistic. As I mentioned in the video, I actually wasn’t looking at this for a theory - I was trying to rationalise something very different, in fact more in line with your proposed train of thought, when I hit this issue about how the Triforce was rationalised in past iterations. Well, you get the idea from there, but essentially the notion of validating the past, all timelines, lands, dimensions, narratives, and titles by way of a thread to the history within BOTW struck a chord with me of just how the possibilities you raise could become tangible. If on the minute percentage it were a reality, then who’s to say we are going down the same time-worn storyline? That BOTW could exist to springboard other stories by simultaneously acknowledging the past whilst ultimately challenging the expectations. Without giving too much away, that concept was the focus of my research and thinking at the time, and in many ways still is. I’ve got a few theories I’m working on which explore that further. I appreciate this way of thinking Is not for everyone, and that’s more than fine with me. But personally speaking, if I were driving the narrative, my goal would be enablement. Validation of the lore and history connected to this vehicle that has ushered in a new generation of fans. And from there - anything is possible. Termina, Holodrum, the Twilight Realm, the Minish - everything - exist and are accessible for new stories and gameplay to come. Besides - who’s to say that Ganon is the ultimate antagonist in the sequel? We have a blood moon on our hands, a mysterious ancient tribe of magic welders - for all we know, it could be the tribe who crafted the mask of Majora. Who’s to say the trio as we know today will remain? I certainly don’t claim to know the answer, but I aim to challenge the established view that things have to go in a certain way. And in that sense, I’d say we’re on the same page. And even if you were to disagree, be assured that I respect where you are coming from, and I’d be the last person to claim a side period. I like the creative discussion, and you’ve certainly brought that to the table, so thanks again. I’m going to do what I think is interesting and no doubt generate criticism along the way, which is the only way I know how 😉. Great chat, and I hope you’ll keep the conversation going in future, it’s great to hear that passion 💫

Honestly, I think this is sadly false. If the devs/artists wanted to make a symbol that represents the 3 triforces combined they would just arrange them in a triangle (stage 2 serpinski triangle). Sue it looks like 3 triforces to us, but noone would draw that symbol if they wanted to draw 3 triforces. Sadly this theory makes no sense when seen from this perspective. Nice speculation though. Was invested.

Hi Andres and thanks for leaving your feedback, I appreciate it. Even better, you prompted what was an enjoyable spell of evening research into the mathematical principles of fractal attractive fixed sets and the reproductive qualities at any size or level - fascinating. Then learning about the history - did Sierpinski generate the idea himself or was the theorum a derivative of his observation of mosaic patterns? It got me thinking because if he did, then the pattern being observed and his consequential extrapolation could be viewed in some ways to be an extension of the replication of the pattern he observed - leaping from theory to actual practice. Mind blown! Anyways, back to the video, I completely agree that no-one would draw that pattern if they were applying a self-replicating methodology to the shape. The theory put forward in the video is that we do not have 3 x Stage 1 Sierpinski Triangles (i.e. 3 x Triforces which are united), it is debating that 2 x Triforces are united in their respective timelines, whilst one Triforce (made of the equilaterals) is separated. If you were to attempt to depict 2 x Triforce(s) and 1 x Triforce in disparate pieces, how would that be represented visually. Within a height dimension that is constricted by the height of 1 Triforce ( a metaphor that would imply they are of equal weight), then the representation would look as it is implied in the video. Or at least that's my assertion, doesn't mean it's right. Summarily, the intention was not to demonstrate 3 replications of Stage 1 Sierpinski's (hope I'm saying that right), but to demonstrate 2 x Sierpinski's with 3 very separate equilateral triangles. I hope my explanation put in the terms above goes some way to explaining the approach, and I completely agree that if the theory was based on 3 'united Triforce(s)', the representation in that manner would be false. On an aside, your point on the Sierpinski Triangle was brilliant, and in reading more into it, the fractal nature, if applied to something like the Zelda universe, could imply infinite possibilities and outcomes of all scales, which applied scientifically would make more sense to a genre defining explanation of 'microverse and megaverse' type entities, organisms and even dimensions than you see in things like the MCU. My point here - you should take that idea to Nintendo yourself because that theory applied to the Zelda franchise covers not only the Minish, but anything they want to do, especially with a 3 dimensional logic. Great comment - and thanks again, because it was valuable in learning something new! Have a great day :)
