If this is true, it's not recorded anywhere in the bulbapedia pages regarding Gen 4 glitches or the one on in game trades, and there doesn't seem to be anyone else who's brought this up... so I kind of doubt it's true. Sure, people could just not know, and bulbapedia could be inaccurate... but nothing at all? There is, however, a glitch making it possible to evolve trade evos in gen 4 through the GTS without actually trading them. So we kind of have the opposite of this.

Here’s a questionable one. Not for the player, but for the NPC. In XY’s Cyllage City Pokemon Center, and NPC asks for a Luvdisc. What do you get? A Steelix. This is the most one sided trade in any Pokémon game. A STEELIX. FOR A LUVDISC. BEFORE THE ROCK GYM.

In Ruby/Sapphire, there's a trade in Pacifidlog Town asking for a Bellossom in exchange for a Corsola. Corsola is kind of a pain to find in Hoenn. I think you need to use the Super Rod in the water below Evergrande City or something like that. But Bellossom is even more precious (especially for Sapphire), because you only get 1 Sun Stone in a playthrough and you can only get new ones from wild Solrock (5% chance for them to hold one).

I realized recently the devs probably gave Mindy's haunter an everstone at the last minute because it is possible to get a Gengar in DPPt through having GBA Pokemon game inserted into the DS. So basically they made Mindy a jerk because of a game mechanic GF probably added towards the end of development and they didn't want her trade bogging down the rarity of the GBA insertion Gengar.

About the Emolga for a Boldore, Emolga are super rare while Boldore can be found very easily in caves…located on *either side of the city he lives near*… Oh and on the opposite side of Mindy, we have the absolute *chad* who gives you a STEELIX for a Luvdisc A steelix you get before the second gym, a gym that is weak to steel and ground (the gym leader’s Aurorus especially), for a *luvdisc*…which you’re guaranteed to get in this city using an old rod found in that same city

Keep in mind that traded Pokémon gain experience faster so these Pokémon you trade will be a higher level than most of your team as you play through the game

As someone who had their first game as pokemon Yellow and used that machamp till endgame then played gen 5 parts 1 and 2 with it's clever mechanic for the emolga trade, that girl in snowveil actually pissed me off. For context i spent actual _hours_ training a modest meditite for my team, unclear about the natures until my brother told me. Needless to say I hate icea for letting that trade f*cking stay for "as faithful as possible"

Legends Arceus gave us the Link Cable. Only for it to not be used in future titles. It's ashame we don't have an item that allows us to find wild pokemon that is not native to that specific version.

I like to role play in my pokemon games and help all npcs i find. I usually go out of my way to find the pokemon they want or do whatever they need. Extra points if they give me a good rewards, like the wings/feather things in black 2

That Emolga I got from the hiker actually killed Cheren’s Serperior during my battle with him on Route 10 thanks to Air Slash flinches, which allowed me to beat him on my first try. Long live Apple the Emolga. Sorely missed.

Surprise trades have been forever ruined by people trading hacked Pokémon the worst part is if it’s a shiny you get excited until you realize that it’s a hacked Pokémon. If you receive a pokemon with a website as it’s nickname, perfect stats, and level 100 it is most likely a hacked Pokémon and you need to release as soon as possible so the Pokémon company doesn’t find it and get you into serious trouble and you could even get banned.

You DO realize that traded pokemon grow faster, right? Sure, you could catch an emolga. But Manny's traded Emolga "Minipete" will grow TWICE as fast. But to settle with a nickname like "Minipete"... Golly, maybe it's not worth it for all of that cringe.

The Boldore/Emolga trade is… interesting. In-universe, you can’t change the nicknames or Trainer ID of a Pokémon received in a trade, so the Gigalith the player can get on Black & White 2 would have to be a different Pokémon than the Boldore given to the NPC in the first games. The choices of Pokémon are also notable; the games have a tradition of offering Pokémon suitable for upcoming bosses in in-game trades, and both Emolga and Gigalith have type effectiveness against the upcoming Flying-Type Gym (note that you have to go to Celestial Tower first before you can battle Skyla in the first games).

Ps claire runs and refuses to give you your badge like a little kid but heres the thing in fen 2 and remake she is canonically 25 with the mentality of a spoiled 5 year old kid at least the third gym leader gives you your badge she cry's from losing yes but she doesn't straight up refuse that you won fair and square heck she challenges you to a remake at end of the game clarified hides behind dragon pokemon champion when she loses its sad

Fun fact: apparently Gen 4's code didn't allow for trade evolution Pokemon to evolve through in-game trades, so Mindy's Everstone is just a cover-up.

Friendly reminder...scarlet and violet gives you a trade where you can get traded a haunter...WITHOUT AN EVERSTONE, meaning Gengar is accessible with ONE copy of either game if you do that trade. It's as if Pokemon was trying to say "Yeah sorry about that lady in gen 4..."
