Funny enough Pelikan13 is the same dude that created Sonic Fan Remix with Damizean and had also a similar drama around SFR because people kept being quite nitpicky and the thing went back and foward quite a lot ending in silence and dropping the whole thing altogether. Also personally I'd look at Fight N'Rage as something far more bang-for-your-buck worthy. There's a ton of characters to unlock, a few branching storylines that actually take place during regular gameplay (there's one situation that seems like a binary decision but has a sudden third option by accident, it shocked me) and a real incentive to not go continue crazy despite the technically infinite continues when your score gets converted into coins you can use to unlock more features. Even if it's 20 bucks right now it often gets discounted on Steam.
