After watching Civil War, I went back to watch the first two Captain America movies because the movie put me in a Captain American mood and I finally realized that "I can do this all day" is Cap's catch phrase. Sorry if that was obvious, but I'm young and stupid. This movie was amazing though, 9/10 from me.

I think Cap honestly had a bit better of an argument here. I agree with what he's saying about not allowing the government to control their actions because we've learned in Winter Solider that government organizations can be taken over by Hydra or other evil organizations. If Hydra or some other group we're to take control over the government again, they would have full legal control over the heroes. I still see where Tony is coming from, but I think I side with Cap a bit more.
@originalscreenname44
@originalscreenname44 8 жыл бұрын
Even if you discount someone dubious using their powers for their own gain, you still have the problem of the governments of the world jumping to conclusions without finding the truth first. They immediately blamed Bucky and put in a "kill on sight" order with nothing more than very spotty photo evidence. Sure Cap was working on instinct when he first said Bucky was innocent, but he did the legwork and found the real villain all while the government still wanted Bucky's head.

I loved Zemo in this movie. First, like Johnny said, the point of the movie was the Civil War itself. it would've been too distracting if Zemo took center stage half the time and the war took the other half. Second, I loved Zemo in this movie because he's a random nobody - a Slokovian soldier - who managed to do more damage to the Avengers than any other villian so far, and he does it indirectly. And seriously? You're surprised Cap and Tony didn't kiss and make up?! Dude! Steve knew Bucky was the one who killed Tony's parents and kept it from him, and Tony, without hesitation, sided with the government when they wanted total control over the Avengers, which is what Steve is against most. I think it makes perfect sense that they aren't close anymore.

I disagree completely about Zemo. I thought he was one of the better villains. He wasn't Baron yet, and he survives the movie so he can always don the mask and truly become the Baron Zemo we all know in the future. Plus, I liked how he was the product of the Avengers mistakes and succeeded in his plans to cause them to implode. Also, regarding finding out about Tony's parents true killer, Arnim Zola told us in Captain America: Winter Soldier when he was proving that Hydra infiltrated Shield

+SilJeff I agree, I just think his plan sucked. Relied too heavily on coincidences and circumstances beyond his control (remember, Zemo's in this alone, and he's supposed to be just an ordinary guy). Plus, regardless of what Zemo thinks, his plan to kill the Avengers failed both literally and metaphorically. No body count, and he just ended up making 2 Avengers teams. One funded up the UN and another funded by the most powerful/resourceful country in all of Marvel history.

Feel free to voice a different opinion if you disagree with me, but does anyone find it interesting how in contrast to both Avengers movies (which seem to go out of their way to make sure that everyone has equal story relevance [except Thor in Ultron, sort of]) this movie has a very clear descending hierarchy of who has most bearing on the themes and plot; 1. Steve, Bucky and Tony are all sort of shared protagonists, 2. Zemo and T'Challa who have almost as much to do but aren't really in on the emotional struggle of the above three, 3. Wanda, Vision, and Peter, who are all firmly supporting roles but of the supporting characters have the most focus and reflect the themes of responsibility most clearly, 4. Natasha, Clint, Sam and Rhodey, all of whom are just as relevant as Wanda/Vision/Peter but who's values and representations relative to guilt and responsibility are alluded to less explicitly. 5. Scott, who of all the powered characters is definitely the one who's absence would be least conspicuous if you just took him out of the movie, but who still works as a representation of anti-authority altruism the same way Steve does. 6. Ross and Sharon, who are mostly there to be the more broad representation of Steve and Tony's sides.

"Nobody likes pairing up with Spider-Man." Except Deadpool, and what makes their relationship so amazing is that Deadpool is the only person Spider-Man really doesn't like because of how similar they are. 😂 Also, people I really see who don't like working with Spider-Man, more older/Ultimate comics than modern comics, are Wolverine and Punisher, and they don't like him because of how much he talks and the kill code. Lol. Also, the angsty Defenders in the Ultimate comics don't like Spider-Man, except Luke Cage and slightly Daredevil.

My primary issue with Ant Man in this movie, is that it really just makes his movie's ending irrelevant. I mean, he's finally cleared and has his family back and then he goes and joins the side of a man aiding a (falsely accused) murderer and get's thrown into jail.

I get that a good chunk of people are lacking in knowledge about the Black Panther, but they will explain any questions you had about him from this movie in his solo film. Basically, his powers is somewhat of a spiritual thing, where it's like the Wakanda Panther God, and only people in the line of the Black Panther has access to something like that and bam he has powers. Black Panther is also one of the smartest people in the Marvel Universe and is also one of the most skilled martial artist dropping Cap easily more than once. He also outsmarts someone like Tony Stark on a daily basis. He his the King of Wakanda, one of the technology advanced countries in the Marvel Universe. T'Challa is also an acrobatic, master strategist, hunter, scientist, etc. I personally see him as a better Batman. I do recommend reading his comics, they are a fantastic read and his character is just fucking awesome. Lol.

I am 100% Team Cap... as of right now, because I don't see any reason why regulating the Avengers will produce any fewer innocent victims or collateral damage than they currently are. If there was some situation in which the Avengers were endangering people that they didn't need to or were intentionally causing damage that really didn't need to happen, then they'd have a leg to stand on. But this was all kicked off because a dozen people got blown up in Wakanda? Yeah, that's terrible, but that's kinda to be expected when you're dealing with shit on the level that the Avengers deal with. I feel like the villains in general aren't brought up enough in these discussions. Like, why didn't Cap say "You know, there's only so much we can do when an alien army led by a demigod falls out of a portal directly above New York. I think we saved just as many people as can be reasonably expected in such a situation; why are you blaming us instead of the aliens? You could've at least mentioned that there were aliens. From the sounds of this conversation, this happened because we were messing around." All that the Sokovia Accord would do at this point would result in more innocent casualties and more collateral damage while the Avengers drown in red tape; it's not like they would do anything different than what they're currently doing once they get there.
@SuperfieldCrUn
@SuperfieldCrUn 8 жыл бұрын
Naxiro Dark I don't really get that feeling. I didn't see Man of Steel, but from what I've heard, Superman didn't really care what he had to destroy in order to take down Zod. The Avengers try their best to mitigate damage, while obviously valuing life over property. It's not quite a comparable situation when the same amount of damage occurs during a face-off between two people and a full-on invasion of a major city by a military force.

This was best marvel movie in a long time. I founded Age of Ultron to be a okay movie but this was the better Avengers movie without it being a Avengers movie. Zemo was villian was kinda not needed at all. The whole 5 other winter soldiers plot was kinda pointless in the long run. Captain America point of view was kind of underplayed. IronMan's point of view was explained more and had more screen time about it. So I felt more for Ironman then I did Captain. Ant Man, Spiderman, and Black Panther stole the show. Tom Holland's Spiderman is one of the best version since Sam Raimi's movies. Black Panther was the best part of the movie. I'm shocked he was as flashed out as he was in the movie. Seeing as he didn't have his movie to do it.

I went into the film thinking I was going to be Team Cap, but I actually ended up being Team Iron Man, despite the film's attempts to push toward Cap. I wish I'd gone into it with Johnny's "no sides right" mentality. I think my viewing experience would've been better if I'd had that perspective. I LOVED this Spider-Man, he was perfectly cast. I can see how he wouldn't add much to the plot, but he gave a humorous, up-and-coming vibe to the film that I appreciate. I wish Hawk-Eye's motive for his decisions would've been better shown rather than him being a chatter-box. Overall, this podcast has a lot of great points I didn't consider, is fair & fun, and makes me want to re-watch the film.

I like watching videos like these. I really do. I just hate how human nature is to be in the moment and forget everything afterwards. I won't defend BvS but I saw another video where they were trying to find out why certain things happened and acted like they couldn't figure it out or like a reason was never given and I'm like "Yeah…. there is a reason. .-. Did you watch the movie?" Same thing here. I feel like Cap's side is already backed up both by his previous experiences and by his current experience THROUGHOUT this movie. Why didn't they blow up the jet hanger? Because they're not trying to be "Criminals" too. They're trying to "take in" Cap and his team. Tony isn't going to listen to Steve about his parents death when he's in the moment. And this is predictable considering the movie displays his massive guilt for the death of others, including looking up the specific person the woman by the elevator mentioned because he probably agrees with her and blames himself as well even if he shouldn't. He's projecting the same ideal onto Bucky. While Cap is basically fighting against being controlled by someone with an agenda while trying to save his friend from being controlled by someone with an agenda and then being blamed for it and taken in by Tony which is exactly what will happen TO Tony and everyone else if they sign the papers and end up doing something they disapprove of that the rest of the world dislikes as well. Cap is being wise as hell, yo. :L

Yeah, I agree about the BvS thing. They act like the fight had no reason explained but it was perfectly well explained. Batman saw the destruction Superman could cause when he had to fight someone who was his equal and concluded he was too great a risk to keep alive. Cause if he is a hero a thousand thousand times but the villain just once, the world is doomed. It's an incredibly jaded and cynical perspective but the movie does hint that this is a Batman severely changed by past tragedies, namely Robin's death. Plus he is fed some misinformation to make things worse.

The thing about Cap's motives is that he saw what happens when a government abuses their authority in winter soldier and that power ends up falling in the wrong hands that made him resistant to the sokovia accords.

This was actually my first marvel movie (Spider-Man is enough to get me into any theatre seat) and I personally really enjoyed. My friend who is very well versed on the other movies tried to explain everything to me and while I didn't understand all of it I did understand enough to throughly enjoy this movie. So if you have a way of understanding what happened before this movie then this movie is a great way to learn about all these characters.

Captain america is the only way to go. When someone is offered freedom as compared to chains, they must always pick freedom. That was the point captain america was trying to make, the avengers have to be the ones to decide because governments suck at their jobs.

I don't think they hyped up Caps point of view as much because freedom is something humans naturally want, so they will naturally gravitate towards that reasoning, Iron Man wants restriction, which is something that NEEDS expanding on so we understand why this change needs to be.

7:53 Not only that, but the movie, it is constantly *showing you*, how each side acts through a situation that Cap mention when they talked about it. What's Cap doing mainly through the movie? Going after Zemo which was the master mind behind the attack to the first *official* meeting between the UN to talk about what to do with the Avengers. What does Tony does until Zemo gives him a big "i did the attack"? Goes after Cap just like the UN wanted him to do, and have in mind, that just like Cap discover that there was something wrong between the Zemo and Bucky, Tony could have discover this if he wasn't following orders... So yeah, just think about this and tell me, does Cap needs to speak more, or are his and Tony's actions proving, the point that Cap was trying to make.

I really enjoyed this movie. While it does fall apart a little bit under scrutiny, it still has that winter soldier feel and balances the humor, drama, and action really well. Zemo definitely could have been better and the romance with Cap was kinda freaky considering it's his GF's niece. This is easily a 8.5-9 out of 10 for me

I think Zemo is actually the strongest villain the MCU has had so far. I love what they did with him, with how he knows he can't beat the Avengers so he had to make them kill each other. It's genius. I think it's far better than just another generic supervillain who wants to take over the world. It's also much better than having them team up at the end to face a greater threat like a certain other superhero fight movie.

Zemo's family dying in sokovia made his motivation more justified. Age of ultron was the event that was on the avengers. The chitauri invasion wasn't on the avengers nor was the destruction in the winter soldier that was hydra. Wouldn't make sense for Zemo to have that same hatred.

Honestly, were you doing something else while watching the movie? 1. Cap's reasoning is that they would just shuffle the responsibility to someone else, and that said someone else might have an agenda - understandable considering what happened in The Winter soldier. And, as Sam points out, there is a danger that "oversight" turns into "control"...which is btw EXACTLY what happens in Civil War. 2. What happens on the Tarmac is a chess game. Team Cap has an helicopter there. Team Iron Man arrived in a plane. First move is Cap pretending that he tries to reach the heli. The first confrontation happen, during which Cap looses his shield. But he was prepared for this and had Ant-man hidden in the shield. While he distracts team Tony, his team figures out where Team Tony has their plane, and once he knows it, they all run for it. But Tony has kind of prepared for this and has Vision stationed to guard the plane (so really, why should they blow up their own plane when the most powerful being of the universe is guarding it), so Vision stops the team. Then the actual fight happens, which ends when Giant-man finally manages to distract Vision enough that Cap and Bucky can slip by him.

34:24 Here i disagree, not in the fact that it is underwhelming, in the fact that him being the main bad guy wasn't the important thing. Zemo was the trigger to everything, the trigger of the Civil War, the trigger for Iron Man to coming, the trigger to the final fight. This was the point that they want him to be, Zemo sadly was a sacrificed. But i still think that he could be a bit savage in the next movie, than he would have a better chance.
