This is the kind of video that explains why a lot of independent mechanics don't want to give an exact price on a job, sometimes there are unexpected turns of events that just can't be predicted! Great job on keeping another E46 on the road.

Whoof, I totally felt that relief when the thread repair worked out and allowed torque to spec. Great repair! I think the most annoying part is not actually doing it, but it not being part of the plan of today.

The educational value of this video is fantastic, especially for those new to wrenching etc. I went through a similar issue on my e39 and the oil filter housing gasket top right bolt (dealer over torqued it). I love m52/m54 engines but the cooling system plastic is irritating. You did a great thing saving this one. Look forward to the next!

This car is going to be perfect! Happy to help with the sunroof cover, I really miss my 330i. I have a 2002 325xi that I’m M54B30 swapping along with a 5-speed swap. Also be redoing everything on the car like the engine, trans, suspension, drivetrain, etc.. Hoping I can document the whole thing for KZbin!

Super helpful series on the e46. I have a 2001 325ci and will definitely be referencing these videos when it's time to go wrench on the car. Thanks a ton for all the help and positive attitude!

I was so envy of you cause until now everything was going smoth for you and for my 330 2001 that I'm also repairing, oh boy, lots of people passed there and did a ton o sh*. Just replaced a bad ECU because of an eletrical mess someone did before. Keep the good work.

I know from personal experience how frustrating e46s can be to work on. Just wanted to say that I love your positivity when things are getting tough. Your integrity of only selling the car if you have fixed every problem you could find. It'll sell and make a profit on it Keep up the good work! I just watch for your attitude no Problems on my 2002 325ci yet...

This is a good representation of why it’s recommended to replace the cooling system as just that - a system. Piece mealing it just leads to the next weakest link failing.

Standing ovation for DIY! Great job young man! You have went above and beyond on this 330 & it shows. The 330 is practically like a new car and who ever buys her is 1 blessed soul. I have thought about this, that car here in NC would have sold for at least 2k when you 1st brought it in. I just don't know how you could get the true $ amount of what the car is actually worth in today's market I'm thinking $7500 would be the price, correct me if I'm wrong. The car has everything going for it cosmetically and mechanically. You have sport seats, steering wheel and wheels with tires. The paint is great the interior is great, I mean what's not to love about the car. This is just me but hears what I'm thinking will go down, you take 5500 and a trade in for you to break even. I've thought about it and I just don't think you will find anymore $500 deals. Anyway I am really excited about another DIY where things are done right!

I remember changing the voltage regulator on mine, two weeks later the alternator bearings pulled a SpongeBob, had to replace the whole alternator but rock auto had a good deal on a reman one, 20k miles later still working great.

Hey, just wanted to say that I did this exact job today. I had to repair the same threads you did as well as the one on the bottom. Your words of inspiration and heli coil demonstration was exactly what I needed. I didn't let it ruin my day and it was something I'd never done! It did mean I didn't get the car running yet but all good!
